Red on Red: Anonymous Declares War on Jihadis

I can already feel the weeping and gnashing of teeth in the online jihadi community, many of whom use the Anonymous' Guy Fawkes mask as an avatar. Many Islamists see leftwing activists as fellow travelers in their war against Western values. This should be fun:

Some members of Anonymous have vowed to avenge the Charlie Hebdo killings in Paris by taking down jihadist websites.

A video uploaded to the web by the group's Belgian wing also promises to scrub social networks of accounts promoting violent jihad.

This is win-win, all around: more time going after the real fascists, less time going after the imagined.

Update: Ooops, thanks to Rich

1 We are legion.
We are confused.
Half our members just declared war on the other half.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
We do not think very hard about these things.
We would like a sandwich. Mom! When is lunch?

2 Don't get too excited.

Nothing will happen.

In three months, Anonymous will forget they ever declared this, and they'll go back to attacking American corporations and the like.

3 As I said elsewhere, Hacktavists ain't no JAWAS.

4 Pastorius @ 2 Yup, BUT, Islam will not forget and anonymous will be suddenly reminded when an attack happens on them from out of nowhere.
Red on Red is indeed sweet especially when one red doesn't have a clue and is helpless as shit in the face of a perfect murderous religion.

5 IF, Anonymous did take down many of the Islamofascist postings, that could be entertaining.

6 I hope you're right, Obsidian.

7 This would be entertaining, but the jihadi fuckheads maim and kill.

8 We could just mark it down to my pet theory about so many of these types simply being chronic attention whores (their two mommies didnt give them the love they thought they deserved, etc...) and with this Paris situation being the hot topic of the moment, the anonymous wankers have latched onto it for its lime light media attention (one thing attention whores hate is when someone else gets all the attention..).

9 That is the problem with Anonymous. They are basically anarchist-leftists that go after the wrong guys. At least they got it right this time. But they are kind of late to the game considering that many have been trying to warn the world of the danger of the Islamic fascists. The typical response to such warnings is cries of racism, or "not all Muslims are terrorists" (of course, no one says they are, duh!). Anonymous is jut jumping on the bandwagon and want attention.

10 Anonymous (and others) are now up in arms because one of their fellow travellers was attacked -- imagine that. I noticed they did not have one iota of problem as long as it was the right people getting killed, or at least ones not deemed important enough to their cause, not one of their fellows.
That the jihadists would eventually attack them (as they are usually anti-religion in general) should come as no surprise.
The jihadists seem to be of the opinion that the balance has shifted enough in their favor -- I would expect to see more attacks on leftish type targets from here on out -- this is just a personal prognostication, and by no means declares that they won't keep attacking no leftish targets, but I think we will see them challenge the left more from here on out -- they will do this because they think it is safe to do so now.
Of course, this means I will have to defend them, as terrorism is bad...
