Patient Thomas Eric Duncan Dies of Ebola

Breaking via ABC:

Update more there at the NYT's:

Thomas Eric Duncan, 42, the patient with the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States and the Liberian man at the center of a widening public health scare, died in isolation at a hospital here on Wednesday, hospital authorities said.

Mr. Duncan died at 7:51 a.m. at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, more than a week after the virus was detected in him on Sept. 30. His condition had worsened in recent days to critical from serious as medical personnel worked to support his fluid and electrolyte levels, crucial to recovery in a disease that causes bleeding, vomiting and diarrhea. Mr. Duncan was also treated with an experimental antiviral drug, brincidofovir, after the Food and Drug Administration approved its use on an emergency basis.

a former false report of his death, inspired some conspiracy theorists to speculate that he was, you know, the living dead already.

Its too bad he could not be saved even with experimental anti-viral treatment.

Our condolences go out to his family and we pray no one else comes down with this infection.

1 Texas hospitals have been turning out all uninsured patients they can since gov. perry refused obama care medicade money. The hospitals say they are going bankrupt with emergency indigent treatment as patients can't get treatment otherwise. That is why ebola patient was turned out first time he was just one of many!

2 This is the sweetest part of a pandemic, when the patients still have names and papers (the internet, now) is still allowed to report and the ideologues can still point fingers of blame at the Republicans. If it goes big time badly we will have only rumors of numbers and curfews and crazy men mumbling at the bus stops about how we deserve this.

4 captain*arizona, above, here to bring you the BS from the people who brought you this infection, through their own peculiar combination of fecklessness and hubris.

5 A man proposes to his baby momma of 13 years when he sees that Liberia is ground zero for the Ebola epidemic so that he can get a visa to America. Then he gets sick and gets on a plane and infects those around him. And somehow it is Rick Perry's fault? O0000000--kkkaaay!

6 Cpt*Azz seems to think the allowing of illegal immigrants in the US by our current Administration somehow is Texas' fault, I guess because Evil Rick Perry! BTW, are illegal aliens covered by O*Care?
In case you didn't get it, that's a Rhetorical question Cpt*Azz.

7 "Our condolences go out to his family and we pray no one else comes down with this infection."

Duncan's brother stated today that "It was Duncan's skin color that got him killed, had he been white he would be alive today, He said White racism killed Duncan, not Ebola" condolences? not hardly his family blames White America for this clowns death.
Racism did not kill Duncan nor did Ebola, Stupidity did.
