ISIS Destroys Memorial to Armenian Genocide

Just another of those rare coincidences where Turkey and ISIS interests are intertwined.

Or maybe it was, you know, a fair trade, Turkey treats ISIS Jihadists ISIS destroyes evidence of Turkey's past genocides.

The Islamic State (also known as ISIS) destroyed the Armenian Genocide Memorial Church in Der Zor, news agencies in the Middle East reported.

Hundreds of thousands of Armenians perished in Der Zor and the surrounding desert during the genocide. In summer 1916 alone, more than 200,000 Armenians, mostly women and children, were brutally massacred by Ottoman Turkish gendarmes and bands from the region.

Turkey, incompatible with NATO and EU membership.

1 Interestingly Der Zor had been occupied by the Islamic State for some time and now suddenly they destroyed the church. I got a feeling Turkey made a deal with ISIS before Turkish hostages were released, to destroy memorial sites that signify Turkish atrocities against the Armenians. Otherwise why did it take ISIS so long to destroy the church when they were occupying the town.
