Karma Is A Bitch

And I love her.

From News.com.au:

But that wasnít enough punishment for the road rage thug who made headlines around the world last week for falling victim to a beautiful act of karma. Karma struck twice.

At the weekend he was arrested by authorities, Florida television news network WTSP reports. Not only for reckless driving, but for leaving the scene and failing to wear a seatbelt.

You could even say karma struck a third time, because police publicly identified him as Jeffrey White, age 33.

And if you count the fact he is now an international sensation who has been named and shamed as far away as, well, Australia, itís fair to say karma steamrolled him four times.

1 I call bullshit . This woman was slow driving in the fast lane on purpose. Usually this is done out of stupidity but occasionally out of vindictiveness and the desire to irritate the living shit out of others. This woman should have been ticketed for dangerous driving. SHE precipitated the incident. And then played the victim. Bullshit.

2 I agree. I'll drive up like that and then back off when I'm trying to get somewhere quick as a sort of, 'scuse me, coming through. She could have easily changed lanes for him to pass on the left. But she didn't. That's where she's in the wrong. And operating her phone to video all of this is a bit of a distraction. That's not a good idea either.

Of course, he's probably not all that smart. Shouldn't have flipped her the bird while driving and make a show of cutting her off. There's blame on both parties. Can't say I think much of someone driving off after seeing him crash and laughing about it. Even if he's an @$$ hole, he might have been hurt.

3 Wrong, both of you. According to her, she was passing slower-moving trucks to her right, she was driving the posted speed limit, and it was a surface street within city limits. There is no requirement for slower traffic to move right on surface streets, only on interstates and other highways. She could not have changed lanes because there were larger vehicles to her right. By the time she was finally clear to move right (which she was not required to do), the asshole gunned it and swerved around her. He actually pulled ahead once, dropped back, then shot forward again to flip the bird, at which point karma began kicking him in the teeth.

I will, however, agree to the issue of operating the video camera.

4 Both of them are idiot drivers. One was unlucky.

Posted by: El Gordo at April 01, 2014 12:26 AM

5 She had plenty of time to pull over to the right

Posted by: Rightrt at April 01, 2014 10:05 AM

6 I didn't see any other vehicles beside her and only one car up ahead in the right lane in the video I saw.
BUT... driving here in FLoriduh, I see that ALL the time. Some twit going 15-10 under in the left lane and will not move for hell or high water. Their usual move is very slow going by someone else or semi-truck and then speed up to close any possible chance to pass them and then slow again.
And the snow birds are here again.

The twit in the car was the cause of this, impeding the flow of traffic and not yieding to a faster vechicle, speed limit or not. What car driver was doing was dangerous.

8 Rather eloquent proof that karma does not exist since thewitlessnut who caused the wreck drove off laughing. Someone should check tags. I'd be willing to bet she's from Columbus, Ohio: Home of People Who Get in Your Way for No Damn Reason.

9 You guys are wrong about slower traffic being in right lane. She was driving within the city, not on a highway. There are left turn lanes, which means drivers are able to stay in the left lane, especially if they eventually plan on making a left turn off this roadway. She can drive legally in either lane so long as she is going a safe speed.

I would agree she shouldn't be filming while driving, but she is documenting another driver behaving in a very dangerous manner. Had he caused her to wreck, she can prove it was not her driving or speed that caused the accident.

BTW, those insinuating she wasn't passing slower moving trucks, start the video and then immediately pause it at the 2 second mark. You can see the rear wheels of a slower moving truck. Again at 1:03, you can see the second slower truck she was passing. She has every right to get a safe distance ahead of those trucks before moving back into the right lane, if that was her intent. She does not have to cut over there earlier than she feels is safe because some moron is riding on her ass.

When I'm driving the speed limit and passing slower traffic and someone rides up on my ass like that, I slow to the same speed as the vehicle I'm passing. I always slow for tailgaters. You want to get by? Get off my ass.

10 DMartyr:

I find your comment interesting, but one point is wrong.

Years ago in Spokane there was a report about a car being blocked as he tried to get the vehicle ahead of him to move over. He flashed his lights finally and only when there was an opening, he was able to get by.

He was a heart surgeon called for an emergency operation. The patient lived, no thanks to the road vigilante.

It is not your job to enforce traffic laws.

Posted by: MAKAYA at April 01, 2014 02:09 PM

11 No, its not my job to enforce traffic laws. But it is my prerogative to slow when confronted by a dangerous, reckless driver.

And I really don't believe that story. Do you have a link about it? It sounds to me like something made up to justify speeding and tailgating.

12 "Comments are disabled for this video."
Good idea, YouTube account, we wouldn't want you subjected to a definition of "karma." Or of "red neck." Or pointing out the relative lack of actual rage. This simple title is full of the twisted wreckage of a shattered language.

13 The A-hole truck driver got his just deserts... Awesome to see it on video.

Posted by: Kuffar at April 01, 2014 03:51 PM

14 Dmartyr: I understand your point. Here in Floriduh we have many Left Turn lanes. I encounter daily many that Do Not Use them, but slow to a stop in the travel lanes. Remember: FLORIDA
Where You Go To Die.
And they do it on the roads.

15 In Australia the woman would be charged for operating a mobile phone while driving.
And on that, can all the morons that use their phone to video in the portrait mode wake up to yourselves and realise that all playback platforms are landscape mode.

No link. I was there.

Posted by: MAKAYA at April 01, 2014 10:12 PM

17 The woman with the camera is just as much in the wrong as the driver in the truck. It doesn't matter if they weren't on the highway, its rude to stay in the left lane unless you're turning left when there's someone clearly trying to pass you.

If you don't feel comfortable driving as fast as they are, move over at the first opportunity, even if that means that you'll have to be stuck behind someone while that other person passes you. You don't have some right to control the flow of traffic in your lane.

Not to mention that her defense for being in the left lane is that she was already going a whole 2 miles over the speed limit. Anyone who thinks that going 2 miles over the speed limit is justification for holding up traffic behind them is automatically in the wrong.

My rule of thumb: If the car behind me is closer than the car in front of me, I should be in a slower lane. Its a good rule, and I encourage other people to use it.

My point.

19 We dont know what happened prior to her getting her camera out.

Personally I see douchebags like this ALL the time in Palo Alto, usually in a Prius.... Complete self righteous assholes blocking traffic because they can.

Our roads are a War zone because people like the bitch on the camera. No courtesy whatsoever.

All she had to do was let the guy that was OBVIOUSLY attempting to get by her go. But she refused and THAT is what inflamed the situation.

The guy in the truck is the victim...

20 Why is he a THUG exactly? Flipping someone the bird while driving is hardly thuggish.. That means my granny is a thug is guess.. If you can say Redneck does than mean I can say N^$$#r?

Spoken like a true asshole of the road. What a piece of work you must be to slow down to below the speed limit to block some poor soul stuck behind you like that. Karma dictates that someone should follow you to a deserted area to discuss the matter and maybe rearrange a few of your teeth. Slower moving traffic should move right, period. Especially on a limited access, four lane road with a huge median like the one in the video. Be polite on the road. If someone wants by, get out of their way. Let people pass you. Take gap, give gap. In my opinion, the bitch with the camera should be found and charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Posted by: Ironwood at April 02, 2014 02:21 AM

22 People are saying she was under no requirement to move over after passing the trucks. That isn't true, according to Florida law:

Florida Statute 316.081

(2) Upon all roadways, any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.

The woman was in the wrong as much as the moron redneck. She should have moved over when she passed the trucks, but she was having too much fun filming the guy.
