More Released Gitmo Detainees Engaged in Terror

*Sigh*

An unclassified version of a September report from the Director of National Intelligence reveals that another five former Guantanamo Bay detainees have either been confirmed as reengaging in terrorism or are suspected of doing so. The report comes just as a judge in Algeria has approved parole of two detainees recently transferred to Algerian custody from the Cuba-based detention facility.

Of the 603 former detainees tracked by US intelligence services, a total of 100 have now been confirmed as reengaging in "terrorism" or "insurgent" activities, while another 74 are suspected of reengaging. This brings the total rate of recidivism to nearly 29 percent, up from 28 percent as of the last report six months ago.

1 My question is if they were able to release them why were they in Gitmo to begin with?
If they weren't terrorists they damn sure are now.
You lock someone up for years then release them? That means they aren't guilty or you're stupid. None of this crap makes any sense.

2 Because, Sal, they were terrorists before we locked them up but when we captured them nobody told us we had to pursue the war with lawyers on hand to gather evidence so we could prove that the guys who were shooting at our soldiers were actually guilty of something. How naive and foolish we were back in 2002.

3 So if we knew they were terrorists before we locked them up why aren't they still terrorists?

Why do we get to take prisoners and they don't? The playing field isn't fair.

4 True, we are going to have to dismiss the cameras and set aside our Civilized Ways and just execute the bad guys on the field. As for why we let them go, ask the hundreds of lawyers who are signed up to provide pro bono services to each Gitmo prisoner, starting with the ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights who have never met a muzzlum bomber they did not want to hug.

5 Storm, I'm with you on this one. To win this we have to murderdeathkill the enemy. They'd do the same for us.

7 One hopes that worst comes to worst there is a contingency plan to systematicly 'put down' those currently held terrorist inmates wholesale if there be a real need.
