Spillover: Hezbollah Bombed in Lebanon

The other day Michael Totten wrote an article on the future of Beirut, wondering if in the post-civil war era it could regain the title The Paris of the Middle East? I didn't bother linking the article at the time because the answer seems so obvious: no.

I hate being right about stuff like this:

A powerful car bomb ripped through a crowded southern Beirut neighborhood that is a stronghold of the militant group Hezbollah on Thursday, killing at least 14 people and trapping dozens of others in burning cars and buildings in the latest apparent violence linked to the civil war in neighboring Syria, officials said.

Groups opposed to Syria’s President Bashar Assad have threatened to retaliate against Hezbollah for intervening on behalf of his regime in the conflict. The blast raises the worrying specter of Lebanon being pulled further into the Syrian civil war, which is taking on an increasingly sectarian tone.

I can't imagine Hezbollah will just sit back and take this. These aren't exactly the forgive and forget types.

2 As you sow do shall you reap.

Let every bomb they set off killing others and every death they caused be revisited upon them.

3 I'll call it the Paris of the Middle East when the Peugeots start burning at night.

4 Hezbollah had intended to spend the rest of this year making lace undergarments and polishing their grail shaped lamp, but NOW they are going to terrible acts of violence just like they have done every other year since 1985 so 'what difference, at his point, does it make'?

5 Why should the Israeli's get involved?
The islamics do a great job of killing themselves without any help.

6 According to the Usual Suspects, the bombing was done by the Joooooooos (or Juice. The dialect is ambiguous.)

7 I just gotta ask: amspirnational, you ever been out of the US?
You ever spend time living in Bethlehem or Nazareth? With the so called palestinians? Spend time with Lebanese, there?

8 His posts have been deleted. I guess he was winning.

9 Sad that the issue is deleted instead of debated. The natural conclusion is that what he said was the truth. Why else would it be deleted? How Democratic. Reminds me of the IRS. Those that attempt to hide the truth always lose in the end.

10 I wanted to know if he/? was just blowing internet smoke or actually has some real life experience like some of us have in various fields.

11 He confuses me. Sometimes he comes up with plausible things that are probably correct. Then he some with some off the wall shit that only comes from an Islamic fanatic. He does a fairly good job. So I suspect he's cutting and pasting from some Islamic blog.
You can tell when he makes sense as his comments are deleted. After we've all read them.

You can bet he's been in the West a long time. Or was educated in the West.
