Awesome: Taliban Free 36 ~ 300 Prisoners in Raid

Why is the figure somewhere between 36 and 300? Local officials claim "dozens" while the Taliban claim "300". So, given that both sides are completely full of sh*t let's just split the difference and go with, I dunno, 150 or so?

Up to 40 armed men disguised as police officers have launched a major attack on a prison holding hundreds of militants in the Pakistani city of Dera Ismail Khan.

A series of explosions shook the complex before the attackers fired rocket propelled grenades and machine gun rounds at guards, according to district police chief Sohail Khalid....

Pakistani Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said 100 gunmen and seven suicide bombers had been sent to the prison to free the group's leaders.

He claimed they had freed around 300 prisoners, but that could not immediately be verified.

Mushtaq Jadoon, the town's civil commissioner, said dozens of prisoners had escaped

And as a reminder, that's the second prison break in a week in which a lot of bad guys have been freed. Al Qaeda pulled the same stunt seven days ago in Iraq. And why wouldn't the Taliban follow suit? It seems to be a winning strategy.

1 Freeing prisoners is cheaper than recruiting and training new terrorists.

3 These kind of prisons in that area are manned by very few people, who are probably low paid, easily corrupt and have rifles guns that have no match against AK47s and rocket launchers. I wouldn't be surprised those guarding the prison fled like rats !!

4 Just like Pablo Escobar.

How many Afghan Prison Guards does it take to let 150 Talibs escape.

1 to open the gate and 5000 to stand and watch.

5 The United States Army says when we leave next year the Afghans are going to need more training and more MONEY! I say there's little difference between those in prison and those who are not. The difference is that those that escape prison don't ask for more money.

6 Wasn't Morsi able to run for the Egyptian Presidency in a similar fashion?
