Obama's Sequester Cuts Wounded Warrior Caretakers

Walter Reed forced to furlough civilians caretakers:

Furlough letters are going out to civilian employees who care for the nation's wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda. [...]

The furloughs will begin July 8 and stem from the automatic budget cuts from sequestration.

Out of the Department of Defense's 800,000 civilian workers, about 68,000 are exempt from the furloughs. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has said furloughs will save the department $1.8 billion.

But don't worry! The sequester cuts won't affect Michelle Obama's extended vacation.

1 The government can cut 25% of it's civilian employees and still have to many people standing around doing nothing. Having been a Civil Service Employee for three years I know what I'm talking about. As a facilities Engineer part of my job was finding something for them to do. It either wasn't their job, they weren't hired to do this, weren't physically capable of doing it, were never trained to do it or didn't know how to do it. Of forty people I found 7 were doing all the work. AND YOU HAD BETTER NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT. That would be either sexest, racist, bullying or a number other CYA terms to protect the incompetent. They call you in to find out why something is behind schedule. You tell them and the result is you go to a special SENSITIVITY classe. Later over a beer with the big boss he tells you off the record that they must protect their career and CYA themselves if you were ever accused of mistreating an employee.
This is merely a ploy to make those who back the sequester look bad. Besides you're all racists for not wanting to spend 1.5 trillion we don't have.

2 Government spending doesn't hit the reset button when there is a new president. Did anyone think that everything that happened from 2000-2008 would be a freebee? I know ya'll did and you simply forgot about it per usual like a fourth quarter football game. You are paying for it. I am paying for it. Like it or not, we are all paying for it. How many vets were left to the wolves when discharged from Iraq/Afghanistan? It started before the OB was in charge..and it's still friggin" happening now. Rallying 'round the flag with no vision beyond your five feet of time/existence is disgusting. Yet ya'll keep procreating.
(Not necessarily toward you, GREY)

3 But you must admit that the freebees of 2000-2008 weren't growing at the rate they presently are.
Obamacare is for those of a particular group. It's obvious that those that look like Obama's son if he had one will benefit the most and those who don't will be paying for it.
I will admit to the fact that the freebee programs started many years ago. Roosevelts time. The American people are as guilty as the leaders they elect and control with the promise of re-election.
In 1958 one in 50 workers received disability benefits. Presently, it's one in 13. Can't blame a president or political party for that. You can blame the lazy people applying for these benefits, the doctors who assist with the paperwork and the government system that allows it. The crime is once a person receives disability benefits he receives them forever. If a back injury heals he still receives the benefits for life. Not only that but it prevents him from going back to work as he will lose those benefits should some government worker get off his ass and investigate.
In 40% of American households the woman is the breadwinner. American men may as well get physically castrated. Mentally they already are.

4 The freebies for lazy people is something I can very much agree with you. I see it. You see it, and it's disgusting. However, that is not the freebie I was referring to. It is about the cost of the war in Iraq, nefarious as it was. We can argue forever about the rationale and never convince each other of what we think is the truth. The war was supposed to pay for itself, correct? Did it? Ask Rumsfeld. Who got rich from it? How did jobs get exported to Asia from that time on? Where were our vets supposed to go when they get back. I've met plenty that adjusted fairly well when they returned...and even more who are fckd up mentally. We send them off to fight for a regime change, they come home and we tell them tough shit?! Depends on how affluent their family was it seems.

5 We do know that ubama told his minions to 'make the sequester hurt'. If you are a recipient of VA benefits, they want to hurt you. Think about that. Your government wants to hurt you. I never expected them to keep their promises, but deliberately hurt me? Damn.

6 yep thats what I heard from someone with a gov union job - told to stop working so mauch making everyone else look bad (and he said he wasnt even working hard in the least)

Add to that the old black woman who plunked herself down infront of a TV all day and didnt do a stitch of work.

Ditch the 7 extra levels of buraecrats and paper shufflers (who sit on their hands). Keep the few people who actually do something and have metrics to record and show what they do for public scrutiny.

No union, no strikes, normalize pay/benefits DOWN to private sector levels.

Revoke those platinum pensions the lefty politicians had no right to saddle the taxpayer with in their attempt to buy votes (confiscate everything the politico who were proven to do that)

a complete enema for the governments and flush the worthless shit out of it from top to bottom starting with the squanderer-in-chief....

7 There goes Bomp bitching about a mere trillion dollars spent in Iraq for-----Give me a minute. I'm sure I can come up with something.

8 Erowmer: You must be right because Obama and his minions aren't even defending the issue. What happened to government we used to trust? The dedicated civil servant?

One word.

All unions are pro democrat party. The union sets the rules. Not the government. Therefore if you have civil service unions you have a government run by democrats. Even if the President is Republican, Independent, whatever.
That is why I'm against unions in civil service.

Damn I wish it would stop raining.

9 A Trillion dollars in Iraq and 800 billion in Afghanistan. Do some figuring here. That's 1800 billion. There is 1000 million in a billion. So that's . Oh never mind. My calculator doesn't go that high. I was trying to figure out how many millionaires the government could make if it had a lottery and gave 1,000,000 to each winner.
Anyone wish to try and figure it out?

10 Grey, come up with anything yet? #9 sort of works but you forgot to carry the "exponent". And that we were supposed to get it all back from oil sales.
