YouTube: 'Hostage' Video Of 7 Members Of French Family Abducted In Cameroon
Update: Full Video Added
[video gone but I have one below the fold]
A video appeared on YouTube Monday of seven kidnapped members of a French family with their abductors, who claimed to be from Islamist extremist group Boko Haram and demanded the release of prisoners. The video represented the first images of the family to emerge since their abduction in Cameroon on February 19. The kidnappers, claiming to be from the Nigerian group Boko Haram, say they carried out the kidnapping in part due to France's "war against Islam," apparently a reference to French military action in Mali. The more than three-minute video shows the family, including four children, held in an undisclosed location, surrounded by at least three of the abductors whose faces are hidden. A source close to the family confirmed their identities to AFP. It was not clear when the video was made. "If you want us to release these French citizens, quickly release all our women you are detaining," one of the abductors says in Arabic, addressing Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan. [Continue reading]I'm unsure if this is indeed Boko Haram due to their 'flag' in the background. Could be supporters of the terror group and have their "own" flag. Stay tuned. h/t @BokoHaramWatch Update: Full video below the fold:
Now he has to watch his family raped and butchered. Terrible.

The video is very amateurish in terms of jihadi propaganda. First there were no video graphics such as the intro. Plus interestingly they didn't censor the woman's face, which jihadi terrorists do in their videos. Also the terrorist didn't speak the local Hausa language, instead he choose the Arabic language to speak about his threats.
Looks like they wanted the video to be made as quickly as possible and put it on the net. Also they wanted to attract their Arab supporters, so that they could impress them, by speaking in their language.
It certainly does look like it's from the Boko Haram group, which the French President was right about, rather than the other islamic terrorist group called Ansaru. The amateur video is very typical of Boko Haram, although in this case, they decided to speak Arabic, that's the only difference.

@ Birbal Dhar: BTW, according to Obama and Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, there was nothing dangerous about being in Benghazi. Just maybe, the French might not read their memo's either

I'm just saying it's hard to imagine getting into a situation to be kidnapped by Islamists without having a certain naive ideology.
Regardless of their beliefs, nobody deserves to be kidnapped by a bunch of barbarians.

That said, there are places fifteen minutes from where I sit in an English town where neither I nor other civilised people would generally set foot. So once you go to Africa...Lets just assume they were mislead by tourist marketing. Easily done.
I think this is when I should fess up the background to my recent rants against the French. Those who never read them should skip this and anyone who did read them may not necessarily care, but here it is. The fact is France, French people, French culture and French history all figured importantly in my childhood and youth. I dont know how many times I went there starting in 1968. I cant begin totell of the meaning France has for me and the roles French men and women played in my life. Substantial. Memories ofthese thingsmake me weep.
So I hjave all these fondmemories and then today I meet French suits abroad and they are assholes.I look at contemporary French politics andthe conduct of todays France and its this against the backdrop of my nostalgia for Franceand the French I knew that makes me sick. Its quite like my disgust and loathing ofmodern Britainand the British abroad when I am English through and through. Really the assholes are there the same everywhere.
So I guess there was a big chunk ofdenial in my ranting against the French. Sorry France. Sorry Froggies. Sorry to those I remember. Viva them all!

But no someone must remain stubborn enough to get these people killed. It' alright to die for your beliefs but it's not alright for others to die for your beliefs.

And/Or there is nothing in your life precious enough for you to die for?

" Is there (nothing)(anything) in my life precious enough to die for." YES
MY FAMILY. Perhaps even MY country. The one posters on this blog say is so fucked up.
But not for a bunch of foreigners. Thx for playing.

Yes. All I'm concerned about is my family and country. Why the hell would I be concerned about anything else? What are you some kind of religious freak?

Bring your war hero daughter and her husband who served at Gitmo. We love our heros around here. Hell, we might even have a parade. Don't miss out. When we barbecue we give out name tags. Sure would enjoy having you. Be a nice visit. We can bury the hatchet.
