Sandcrawler Hurricane Check in

Sandy Sandy Sandy Sandy.

Superstorm Sandy slammed into the New Jersey coastline with 80 mph winds Monday night and hurled an unprecedented 13-foot surge of seawater at New York City, flooding its tunnels, subway stations and the electrical system that powers Wall Street.

The National Hurricane Center said that as of 5 a.m. Tuesday, the storm was moving westward across Pennsylvania and was centered about 90 miles west of Philadelphia.

At least 16 U.S. deaths were blamed on the storm.

We now go to a citizen journalist in the field.

Update: Pretty bad damage due to a fire in the Breezy Point area of Queens. New Jersey also took a beating. Lower Manhattan is soaked. Widespread power outages.

We're have faith those on the East Coast are tough and will recover quickly. Still we pray for all those who have lost life or property.

Rest assured help is on the way. The Red Cross page to send donations is here.

Update: Reports are not that 33 people were killed as a result of the storm. That's quite a toll considering all the warnings.

3 This damn thing is the largest tropical Atlantic cyclone in recorded history. It's estimated as being over 1000 miles across. Looking at it from space, it's a monster.
