Shooting At Sikh Temple (Updated/Bumped Killer Identified as Wade Michael Page)Update: Person of Interest Sought
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: At least four people were shot just before 11 a.m. at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek Sunday morning and a police SWAT team entered the building before noon and brought uninjured people out of the building at 7512 S. Howell Ave. Among those who were shot was the president of the temple. People were in the temple as early as 6:30 a.m. Sunday and many more were arriving for a service that was to begin about 11:30 a.m. There were reports that children were taken to the building’s basement after shots were fired. Someone who sent a text message to a Journal Sentinel reporter shortly before noon said that there were two shooters with children possibly as hostages. And the head priest was locked inside a restroom with a cell phone and that there were as many as 20-to-30 victims. Please say prayers for the victims and a safe rescue if there are, in fact, hostages. Just a personal observation, I wonder if this was an attempt by a deranged, radical group or individual who may have attacked these Sikhs thinking they were Muslims. No matter the victims, attacking the innocent is NEVER an acceptable solution. I think I can safely speak for my fellow Jawas when I say we all repudiate such a vile and cowardly act against anyone. UPDATE: Amazing. How often have we seen authorities insisting "no connection to terrorism" when a crazed gunman runs around shouting, "Allahu Akbar!"? But already police are declaring this one an act of terrorism before they even have a motive. I think it is an act of terrorism. But there's some hypocrisy in the way these things are labeled depending on who the victims are and who the perpetrators are. FoxNews video added:
Law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation named him Monday as Wade Michael Page, 40. One law enforcement official said he owned the gun used in the shooting legally. He had apparently served on active duty, a U.S. official familiar with his record said. The source declined to give further details. If anyone has anything to add on Mr. Page please comment. UPDATE V: Confirmed, Page was a well Skin Head known and played in various Neo Nazi bands.
The man who allegedly murdered six people at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee yesterday, identified in media reports as Wade Michael Page, was a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band.Hat Tip: Intelwire. He was also received a Not Honorable discharge from the service. Possible twitter feed here.
In 2010, Page, then the leader of the band End Apathy, gave an interview to the white supremacist website Label 56.
UPDATE VI by DMartyr: This guy apparently has tattoo "sleeves." That is, multiple tattoos covering both arms from wrist to shoulder. So, why did the police feel the need to only mention a 9/11 tattoo? Also, since when is a lone gunman a terrorist, while a shooter with connections to al Qaeda is just a lone gunman? Again, I do think this should be considered terrorism, since it is an attack against innocent people for the purpose of furthering a political agenda. But our government is so blatantly two-faced when it comes to labeling these incidents. UPDATE VII by SH: The "9/11 tattoo" was bs spewing forth according to the FBI
Carlson of the FBI told the Journal Sentinel that there is no 9-11 tattoo on Page's body. Several national news organizations had reported Sunday that the shooter had such a tattoo.
The only criminal contact the Cumberland County department had on Page was a charge of writing a worthless check in October 1997.
