Three Convicted of Terrorism Related Crimes in N.C.

Boston Herald:

On Thursday afternoon, after nearly 10 hours of deliberations, a federal jury convicted Mohammad Omar Aly Hassan, 23, Ziyad Yaghi, 22, and Hysen Sherifi, 26, of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists.

The case highlighted the government’s use of FBI informants to build a slew of terror cases across the country since the Sept. 11 attacks, and raised questions about the influence of an older, outspoken man in a rural community over three young men seeking direction in their lives.

Because you know there's no reason to think that Muslims from North Carolina would ever have anything to do with Jihadism, I mean besides that whole deal with Samir Khan joining AQAP.
"I feel sorry for these kids," said Jihad Shawwa, an active leader among Raleigh-area Muslims for the past two decades.
That's right pinning Jihad on Muslims is like totally unfair or so says...
Khalillah Sabra, North Carolina Director of Civil Rights for the Muslim American Society, is concerned that Daniel Patrick Boyd had been able to be so influential to the young Muslims accused in the case.

"I feel they let a parasite into the community, and as a result these boys are going to spend a significant amount of their life in prison," Sabra said Thursday. "If the community had done its homework, this might not have happened. He was a grown man and these were young, adventurous boys that really had no idea what they were getting into."

Yeah just young adventurous boys who conspired to "murder, kidnap, maim and injure persons", two weapons charges and conspiring to kill a federal officer or employee.

Boys will be boys you know.
