There will be an Emergency Alert System.....

(EAS) test conducted nation-wide on November 9, 2011. The FCC and FEMA are conducting the test.

This is the first time that a NATIONAL level Emergency Alert test will be conducted. TV and radio will broadcast a test warning message for two to three minutes.

NOAA weather alert radios will not broadcast the alert. NOAA is designed for weather alerts and not national emergency messages. Web based Social Media will not be used in this initial test for Emergency Alert System notification by FEMA and the FCC, but one should expect there to be activity discussing the test on those platforms.
