This Sergeant Has Finally Had Enough
US troops who've served and/or are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan usually don't tell you exactly how they feel unless you're family or a good friend.Well, here's a staff sergeant, serving in Afghanistan, who leaves no doubt about his opinions. And he's told Black Five to go ahead and publish them; here's an excerpt:
I am tired of Democrats who tell me they support me, the soldier on the ground, and then tell me the best plan to win this war is with a ôphased redeploymentö (liberal-speak for retreat) out of the combat zone to someplace like Okinawa.
I am tired of the Democrats whining for months on T.V., in the New York Times, and in the House and Senate that we need more troops to win the war in Iraq, and then when my Commander in Chief plans to do just that, they say that is the wrong plan, it wonĺt work, and we need a ônew direction.öGo to Black Five and read the whole thing. I especially liked the part where he refers to the Nebraska Cornholer as an "oxygen thief." Thanks to larwyn.
...I am tired of CNN claiming that they are showing ônews,ö with videotape sent to them by terrorists, of my comrades being shot at by snipers, but refusing to show what happens when we build a school, pave a road, hand out food and water to children, or open a water treatment plant.

Are you on drugs?

The military consists predominantly of Democrats, which you seem to take issue with;
the military is predominantly Republican, which would mean the majority of the military Republicans dissaprove of Bush.
Either way, Bush has lost his base even here.

there' a difference between dissaproval about how the war has been conducted vs turning soldiers against the Republican party. I dissaprove of how the war has been conducted too, and if I dissaprove of the GOP it's for other reasons, not that. Don't read more into those numbers than what's there, you're only fooling yourself.

Clearly, they wouldn't be in the military if they didn't have 'hawkish' tendencies at some level. Their true disatisfaction comes from being sent to fight, and not being allowed to. Bush has shown weakness to the enemy, and to the Democratic/leftist adversaries at home.
In any case, I have no doubt that someone here can find that poll and tear it apart again, but I'm wearing to many hats this week, to stick around for long. I hope I can check back, and maybe get a couple licks in.
USA, all the way!

I agree and naturally it is possible to seperate George Bush from the Republican party, as most conservatives have been able to. I don't neccessarily know if the military is making that distinction, but its possible.
I only posit that dissatisfaction with the war from within the military ranks can have a spillover effect from the current leader onto the reigning party, at least in the short term -- like 2008 -- which can obviously have longer term effects.
I disaprove of anyone using an unbalanced and discredited poll to begin with.
I didn't see the discussion on the veracity of the poll, so I can't fairly comment on it. I do know that, in general, if Jesus Christ himself conducted a poll and someone didn't like the results, they could find the means to discredit it.
