Roy Hallums Documentary Airs Saturday (Jawa on TV)

The DiscoveryTimes channel will air an hour long documentary on the hostage ordeal of Roy Hallums. As long time readers know, freeing Roy Hallums from terrorists in Iraq was our first "cause" after some members of his family contacted us about our initial post.

We did our best to help the Hallums family keep Roy's name in the headlines. We have long believed that the U.S. State Department's policy of keeping news about hostages quiet is a mistake. That policy may be approprate for Columbia or Nigeria, but it certainly has little application in Iraq where political pressure has been successfully used in the past to gain the freedom of hostages.

Roy Hallums was later rescued by U.S. soldiers.

The producers of the new documentary contacted us earlier this year and I signed some documents allowing them to use our website for research and for screenshots. I have not yet seen the video, so I do not know the extent to which The Jawa Report has been used.

Even if nothing from our website is used, we have been very proud to be involved in Roy's cause. Be sure to catch the documentary if you can. Here is a schedule of showtimes.

You can visit our Roy Hallums archives here. It's kind of a reverse history of Roy's ordeal and rescue, so start from the bottom and scroll up.

3 I am one of the producers of the Roy Hallums documentary. I'm pleased to say that we do indeed include a scene with the Jawa Report in the film. Quite a pivotal scene in the Hallum family's story. Thank you for your help in our documentary. I hope the documentary may help others.
