Because the US Stood Up to the Border Rushers and Refused to Let This Tactic Win, No Matter How Much Bad Press the Administration Got For It, Migrants Start Saying They Regret Joining the Caravan and Start Heading Home

Hey NeverTrumpers -- tell me that your precious Maaaario or Jeb! or John Kasich would have faced the fire and simply said, "NO."

TIJUANA, Mexico--After fleeing tear gas shot at the U.S. border, Carlos Gonzalez confessed confusion and second thoughts about the caravan that carried him to doorstep of his dream: life in the United States.

The 40-year-old corn farmer from Honduras, wearing a pink breast cancer awareness hat and an orange work vest, had hopped on the caravan of Central American migrants figuring it would facilitate his entry into the country. It set out from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on Oct. 12 and for five weeks he could hope and dream--especially as the caravan pushed past police barricades and crossed through closed borders in Guatemala and Mexico.

But the U.S. border has proved impossible so far for the more than 7,000 migrants anxiously arriving in Tijuana, where they're waiting in the squalor of a small baseball stadium-turned-tent city. It's just a stone's throw from the border they hope to cross, which many could not imagine would be so difficult.

"I thought it would be easy," said Gonzalez, who traveled north with his wife and two children, ages 4 and 3. He said his family was planning to sign up with Mexican officials for voluntary repatriation.

Hey Erick Erickson -- he's going back home and all we needed was to defend the fence. We didn't have to fund authoritarian regimes dropping dissenters out of helicopters. We just had to say "NO." We just had to stop pissing our pants and bowing to leftist media pressure as our cucked party always does (due to the cuck pants-shitters who lead it and fancy themselves as real stalwarts).

The migrants freely admit their tactic is to front their columns with human shields go garner sympathy:

Women and children were walking at the front of the march, he said, "to see if they would let them enter."

But saying "NO" to predictable and tired tactics, and the hand-in-glove cooperation of leftwing NGOs, "protesters," and media operations all working to achieve leftwing agenda points, has changed some minds:

Corrales, wearing a yellow soccer jersey, expressed few complaints with the camp, where he sold single cigarettes to fellow migrants. He thought the caravan's experience crossing into Guatemala and Mexico would prove the template for the U.S. border.

But now, "I'm done with the United States. I'll stay [in Mexico, which offered him asylum]."

Just wishing the masses of migrants wouldn't swamp over the border isn't enough, as some RINOs seem to hope. Neither is engaging in General Jack T. Ripper-esque Action Fantasies about a new cadre of Pinochets in Central and South America.

It takes saying "NO," no matter how many staged video opportunities the "protesters," their NGO sponsors and organizers, and the leftwing, Democrat operative American media arrange.

And saying "NO" will be unpopular, as leftwingers shriek, and then begin spooking the Panicky Horses of the RINO wing of the GOP, who immediately begin stampeding in any direction their leftist Twitter palz tell them to stampede in.

But it begins with saying "NO."

Not with wishing, not with fantasizing.

But giving the unpopular answer "NO," and standing up to media and leftist NGO bullying.

And if you don't have the intestinal fortitude to do that or support that, maybe you should just be honest with yourselves and everyone else and admit you support Open Borders, so long as we don't call it that.

Think about the people who started shrieking about "baby jails" and "infant prisons" when children were put in separate facilities when their parents were arrested for crimes, same as any other kids of parents arrested for crimes.

Think about the people who started freaking out about the picture of the woman risking her own kids to rush the border, as if that's something we can be blamed for.

Now: Think about the people who first started saying Trump should withdraw the Kavanaugh nomination as soon as the left began the Information Op against him.

The lists are mostly of the same "conservatives," aren't they? That special breed of TruCon who shows what a Principled Conservative he is by calling for surrender at the first sighting of a media operation.

Maybe it's time to eject these people from any position of influence or authority.

They are the Defeat Mechanism of the conservative movement, as a friend says. This type always has been, from the first days of Reagan until now.

They're far more interested in pleasing and appeasing media liberal opinion than their fellow conservatives. Because, on a fundamental level, where it counts, they have an emotional, cultural kinship with the left and the media class that they simply do not have for actual conservatives.

And blood is thicker than ideology -- they will always side with the people they feel a cultural connectedness with. Doesn't matter what ideology they profess to believe; politics is downstream of culture, and culturally, they're kinsmen of the left.

They will never change, and therefore they simply need to be purged from positions of influence in conservative messaging and leadership.

We have plenty of pressure from progressive coming from the outside; we don't need our own cadre of internal progressive-aligned saboteurs delivering leftist media pressure from the inside as well.

Related: Guy who swears he's not naive about antisemitism on the left also admits he's perpetually surprised at how forgiving his "friends on the left" are of... antisemitism.

The problem, of course, is that he really, really, really likes his friends on the left, and so is willing to always give them the benefit of the doubt. Even having learned this lesson today-- he'll forget it again by next week, because he wants to forget it.

He wants to think the best of his "friends on the left."

Seth Mandel, however, is not quite so forgiving of antisemitism on the right.

Not saying antisemitism on the right is more forgiveable on the right than on the left -- just wondering why Seth Mandel is always ready to forgive and forget his "friends on the left" being very tolerant of antisemtism, while being more exacting about antisemitism on the right.

And of course I'm not wondering why. That was rhetorical. I know why.

I already offered the answer: Because Seth Mandel is of the left in his heart. He might be a contrarian liberal, with a couple of odd ideas here and there, but his kin are urban liberals. He will always seek their praise and their good favor.

And he will, meanwhile, be rather less solicitious of the good favor of the group he does not feel a kinship with, the actual right.

As I've said before, it's not like this type shouldn't have any representation in the GOP.

But should they be dominant in alleged "conservative" media and in Establishment DC, its think tanks and fundraising operations and magazines?

Why is that actual conservatives -- people who are not just conservative by ideology, but feel a cultural kinship with other conservatives -- should be the fringe minority in all of the leadership and media positions of the conservative movement?

29 ace, while there's certainly cowardice and mediocrity at play, I don't think those are even material to the GOP's failure on illegal migration and border security.

THEY DO NOT SHARE THE OBJECTIVES OR VIEWS OF THEIR VOTERS OR THE NATIONAL MAJORITY ON THESE ISSUES.

Moreover, it's not "unpopular" to defend the border. On contrary. Greatly, to the contrary.

So while you're right, you're wrong here. Right about some, but wrong about the overall, fundamental picture. Common sense, obvious policies (AKA "hawkish" or "hardline" in idiot Beltway speak) on illegal migration, the border, and sovereignty (AND internal enforcement) are nearly everywhere popular (incl. with idiots who vote Dem, and Hispanics), or at least acceptable.

The Uniparty is quite real when it comes to this set of issues. Main reason it was the main reason Trump got the nomination and the WH. Not only - but main reason.

Before this latest "caravan" media event, illegal crossings* and fake asylum gambits were at yuuuge, unsustainable levels - it just got no media attention. There was a brief pause after the Entrumpenation - more evidence, for the clueless, that body English and public posture do matter, and do affect behavior - but that ended a while ago. Impossible to say why - probably a combo of economic boom (magnet turned higher) and the failure of the US to 1) do any internal enforcement that changed the pool temperature (focus on gangs has merit but does little to impress the majority of non-criminal aspiring illegals), and 2) do anything about border security (physical), or fix the asylum system so the gambit doesn't work.

The "zero tolerance" policy that resulted in (the completely normal and totally acceptable) temporary separation of the parents and kids was an attempt to chill the Mommas with Kids Asylum gambit.

ICE just released another busload of fake asylum seekers, never to be seen again, in Phoenix two days ago. It goes on all the time, still. Not enough room to hold everyone til their fake claims are adjudicated.

I believe that here (SW FL) most of all we see working the construction trades and maintenance trades are illegals from central America. All of them walked into TX or AZ or NM or CA, guided by coyotes.

124 I'm with you Ace, you're right! If we just showed some backbone on the border we could stop the mass invasion of millions of illegals into the country! It's true, we can do it!

Because I'm not in favor of the mass demographic replacement of flyover Americans with foreign people of color streaming over the border. Yes, white flyover Americans are more or less Nazis, but they're our Nazis and I would never be in favor of mass demographic replacement of them.

You do believe that, don't you, Ace? That I'm here to help you defend the sovereignty and self-governance of American citizens?

But there's this one thing. It's that Trump had sex with a porn star and a playmate several years before he ran for president. And lied about it.

Unfortunately, we can't allow such a person to be the one defending our citizens, our border and our sovereignty. Our principles simply won't allow it. And sadly, therefore we must let these people cross the border.

Because one can't negotiate one's principles.

Look, Trump has 1,000 real PATCO moments in him, he's the real thing, a decisive leader with good instincts. Nothing against his (surprising) stellar qualities when it comes to these things. I think he'd long ago established his credibility with important adversaries.

But the PATCO chapter came in a very different context, and established Ronaldus Magnus' dominance in matters of will (astonishingly, it even greatly affected perception of US resolve among the Soviet Politburo members, as we now know).

This whole caravan thing has been played about perfectly, in terms of preparation and implementation. There *may* be some short-term effect on reducing the asylum gambit, *may* be some effect in defusing the power of the kids-as-human-shields tactic.

But there will be no significant physical improvement at most of the border, there will be no meaningful expansion of DHS/CBP resources to cope with a situation that has overwhelmed them, there will be no fix to asylum law (though SCOTUS may remove the vandalism blocking the emergency procedures). None of this is likely until, at the earliest, 2021, assuming re-election. After 30 years of dereliction by all concerned, that's a long time to wait.

The day it was announced, I denounced it as a weak move, actually have always called it an invitation to more lawlessness - it signaled a lack of seriousness, and likely lack of competence, on the part of DOJ.

Not that Trump should have wavered had it been more difficult, but the left understands something the right struggles to grok, probably because they left has practiced Alinsky for so long: The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself. Too many on the right are conditioned to fear the backlash should they stand firm on conservative principle. Trump is teaching the honest ones that giving in to such fear is not an effective form of survivalist retreat, but is a losing tactic, period.

296 Don Q. executive agencies can have a lot of discretion in $ matters, it depends, in this case I doubt the LE grant appropriations gave DOJ authority to condition grants on cooperation re immigration law - but that should have been obvious, if true.

In fact the biggest missing piece of any effort to suppress the nullification scourge was precisely $$$ leverage, conditioning appropriations (big ones, not LE grants) on DHS/DOJ certification of cooperation on immigration. Wasn't even brought into play on the Hill. It might have faltered - like *all* immigration fixes falter, with today's Dems and GOP - but guess what that's how voters get data on incumbents, and issues and alternatives get defined, and real progress made, if the voters do their job.

Non-$$$ moves like prosecuting "sanctuary" official perps, and drastically reducing fed LE cooperation/support to targeted jurisdictions, were the other parts of the package I advocated since Trump took office. Those options remain - obviously all the appropriations-related options disappeared with the election.

Bush wasn't a terrible person, but he began the undoing of everything that Ron Reagan had accomplished, as far as moving the window to the Right.

So really, what happens ...Next? Even if Trump gets re-elected in 2020, what happens in 2024, 2025? The Left won't quit, and a few elections will not stop them or kill the stupid fervor they have for immolation and destruction of Western Civ.

Nancy Pelosi will not be long for this world in Congress, but Chuck Schumer will be the Senate Leader of the Democrats for a looooooong time. And somebody even more odious to us will likely replace Nancy.

I'm glad "we" sort of won today, but then....what next?

And really, how did it come to this?

Of course. But bringing in violent, low IQ brown people to rape our women and randomly kill everyone else is cool.

Not only are the low IQ violent brown people, they're not Christian, so they're totally in on the plan to destroy western civilization.

P.S.: The 'eliminate poverty thing' is just a cover. It's all about debasing the Judeo-Christian way of life and making everyone-- except those who are chosen-- dependent on the government and thus... controllable.

Evidence was that he was lying all along. The CIA was conned by Castro, but the CIA was already being consumed by the Left. I forgot where I read it, but a lot of "Leftists" in the CIA felt it was their duty to fight the USSR, because only they knew how to really beat the Soviets...at their own game. And in the same process, change the USA into a better socialist/leftist utopia.

Again I could be wrong, but I believe I read that world-wide the average IQ (maybe mean?) IQ is in the low 90's.

That means there is a hell of a lot of sub-90 IQ folks out there.

They literally bring nothing to the table as immigrants and should not be allowed in.

I think the big problem in the nearish future is that since AI is doing a lot of the grunt work that these good but unintelligent people used to do,

How are they to live and thrive as contributing members of society?.

It's not a trivial issue or problem.

342 Hands, we'll see soon enough - but likely "never" is the answer. It was pretty clear back in March, when Trump signed the CR he said he hated to sign - and there would be no more - that the WH congressional affairs operation is either incompetent, or simply doesn't share the boss's priorities (hard to imagine).

And recall that, incredibly, Trump accepted the "preference" of GOP congressional "leadership" to put off the big confrontation votes until *after* the mid-terms. Itself a mind-boggling mistake, incomprehensible to anyone who knows anything about politics. Defer the defining votes until *after* voters cannot evaluate anyone with the benefit of those defining votes. OK.

Don't see how a shut-down/stand-off strategy works now. House is gone. Senate is barely better than before (instead of much stronger, as it should have been). See no reason for the Dems to fold on anything, now. They folded quickly, because they're idiots and walked right into it, last time *they* demanded something (DACA). Different when the WH demands something.

There were two 'fronts' of the Globalists.

One were the Progressives who believed that the US should be like the rest of the world, and let everyone in.

The other were the NeoCons, who believed that it was Americas job to Police the world... and that Treaties like NAFTA (or the EU) would bring the world together.

Same goal, different tactics... the Bushes were in the later category IMO.

But both subsets are Globalists, and not really worried about Americans.

But both subsets are Globalists, and not really worried about Americans.

Globalism and Globalistas are Progressives first and foremost.
I've had to read between the lines a little bit to discover what Progressivism is and what "progressive goals" really are. Progressivism is Communism dressed up with a different name because there was once a negative connotation with the word "communism" for some very good reasons.
I look for what Progressivism doesn't advocate: things like personal responsibility, the rule of law and capitalism. So far, everything they advocate is the polar opposite of the values that made our country such a success and allowed us to contribute so much to the world.
Progressives only want one thing: power over everyone. I know that sounds overly simplistic, but when everything else is stripped away, that's the only thing left. Progs are all control freaks, who freak out if they can't control you.
It really is a mental illness, but they think it's perfectly normal to want to control another person. Which is why trying to talk them out of it doesn't work. They need to be told "No" in very clear language and then that needs to be backed up with action.

"If you burn carbon you are committing climate terrorism against third world nations"

"All women have the right to birth control and abortion"

"That video game perpetuates violence against women"

"Denial of open borders is like committing a holocaust against brown people"
