Chair of the California Democrat Party Calls for Boycott Of In-And-Out Burger over $25,000 Donation to Republicans

I'm sure the Corporate Cons will have a very measured, balanced, and non-existant comment on this.

Remember, they're not in the business of protesting leftwingers' attacks on Holy Corporations. They know they have no power at all to influence the left.

They are paid only to scold conservatives for applying political pressure to their corporate patrons.

They don't exist to explain their constituents' and readers' grievances to their corporate donors; they exist to explain their corporate donors' grievances to their constituents and readers.

Corrupt Berkeley City Councilman gets pulled over for running a red light, then immediately starts texting the Chief of Police to get the arresting officer to let him off scot-free. It amazes me that more businesses do not use their core strengths - incredibly annoying, convoluted, and impenetrable automated phone trees - as their line of defense. And somebody tweets to you than the automated tweets go out in return, each tweet weirder and less on point than the one before until the raving lefty is spending 20 hours out of the day responding to incoming auto-tweets before deleting the account and taking a running leap off of the Brooklyn Bridge.

100 When I visited CA a few years ago, I went to a shopping center to try to find Kirkland brand booze at Costco. There was an In and Out Burger in the shopping center and the drive thru line stretched almost halfway the parking lot and was causing traffic problems.
I took an Uber back to my hotel and the driver remarked how stark raving mad Californians are for their In and Out Burger.

So yeah, good luck with that boycott.

You've got to hand it to these people, they're fighters. They don't let one opportunity to demonize, one opportunity to slander, one illegal felon slip through their fingers. They fight tooth and nail for every last trivial thing. That's why they have been so successful. I wish we had their zeal, their gumption.

The Bolsheviks were a tiny cohort that overcame their enemies by sheer ruthlessness.

105 I used to eat at Burger King occasionally. Then years back they pulled that Pride Burger virtue signaling promotion ("Look! It's a rainbow-colored wrapper, but on the inside it's exactly the same burger!") and I've never been in there since.

I would eat Burger King if the wrapper had a picture of Richard Simmons sitting on a Soviet flag reading from the Q'uran, IF they still made good burgers.

Remember flame broiling is better than frying? They cooked burgers over fire in front of your eyes. Now they microwave frozen meat from a factory.

It'd be like Louis Farrakhan advocating annihilation of a segment of the population to the KKK.

Yes, it was really a brilliant way to find the big loophole in the judges order - it didn't apply to commercial purchases. (because it's not illegal to sell a design for a gun, and no Judge can make it illegal) So the Judge's order is worthless.

There's a chicken place near my office that has 2 or 3 stores total. It's just like any other fast food place, but their food and service is much better. I'm probably helping the owner put his kids through college or something by eating there.
When I go to a real "chain" on occasion I figure my money is probably just going up the ladder and eventually to some left wing cause or candidate.
I won't even go to Chik-Fil-A anymore after I learned that the local one stick survey takers in the store to go up to customers while they are waiting for their food to ask questions. No thank you, I want to be left alone on my lunch break.
Support local businesses, especially if you find out the owners vote the right way.

The burgers at In-N-Out are awesome. The fries, not so much. Potatoes really need to be processed to be tasty.

But the best part is the customer service, rivaling Chik-Fil-A. Just cheerful, enthusiastic folks working their asses off to make a great fast food experience.

The other best thing is the bumperstickers. Which, back when I was in high school, we used to strategically cut so that they read "In-N-Out Urge".

Because some government asshole decided that using lard was just too tasty and the politburo couldn't have that. Hence all the zero transfat shit that makes fries taste like a #2 pencil. There's a little dive bar/burger place up by our cabin that still uses lard for their fries. Damn they are tasty!

And the comment earlier about BK being dirty. I saw a paper many years ago that the #1 decision of customers to stay are go in a restaurant is cleanliness.

In the booming economy here in the South Bay Area, they started phase 2 of a shopping center after almost 10 years. A fast food place was going in, and I prayed it was a Chick-fil-A. We have everything else and sometimes 3 within a few miles of each other.

Nope, another freaking BK. There's already one in town, and they tore down the other one. Nasty, awful place. They're consistently rated at the bottom for cleanliness - only bested by KFC. I'll drive the extra 1/10 mile to In-N-Out.

Used to travel to WI, outside of Madison on the way to Monroe, there is a Culver's. Yeah, they are that good. Five Guys, their topping choices are great, but their buns mush out if they are wrapped more than 60 seconds. Still, good. In and Out is good, but the beef and cheese taste they have is, to me, a little off. Not bad, just not my favorite. The lines outside most In and Outs would disagree with me.

But the ChikFilA that finally came to town a few years ago is the best. And I am more of a burger guy than a chicken guy. There are a few in the area now, and I don't recall ever not seeing a line into the parking lot.

Except of course, Sundays.

You can ask In-N-Out for your fries well done, they'll twice fry them. I think the Kennebec spuds they use actually have too much moisture to fry well. Five Guys use Idaho which are a starchier potato - and sometimes they're awesome. But a small order is for 2 people (at least the way I eat).

Oh they SAY that the suicide was because of homophobia because a 9 yr old 'came out' as gay and was bullied. But HW and the local FNM are to blame. A 9 year old kid can't even be gay -- he isn't sexually active unless he is being molested. Having some early hormones stirring and still thinking girls are gross is probably rather common; but fucking HW has pushed out the "oh gay is sooo cool" BS so he announces and was bullied. And the media is not saying "OH sheesh, how horrible that kids are making sexuality part of their world at 9 years old, its just all about ohh noes still homophobia and bullying in schools"

Nice thought, but no, there won't. Why? Because it'll happen gradually. How much shooting goes in Austin? None. Yet there should be a lot, to deal with the liberal scum infesting it, because Austin is now a farm club to Berkeley. Ever so slowly, the Reds infest and undermine. It's like the joke about the salami: each slice is so small it's not worth fighting over, until finally all that's left is the string, and that's definitely not worth fighting over.

I don't say that with pleasure. Quite the contrary. But I think it's the truth. California 40 years ago was more conservative than Texas is today. By light-years. Jerry Brown was elected in 1975 mostly on the basis of name recognition from his father. He was, IIRC, only the third Democrat governor since statehood in 1849.

Meanwhile, in 1975, Texas was Democrat country.

But that's because you wouldn't really oppose promoting that view, would you? The question is, what happens when conservatives see conservative businesses being penalized because their founders have a particular view, but liberal businesses get to shove their crap down people's throats with impunity? Should people with conservative views merely say "eh, I can't boycott every business, so I should patronize one that actively seeks to harm me and my community"? That is not the left's strategy. Hey, if I lived in New Jersey, New York, Illinois or any other shithole state of the Northeast or upper Midwest, I'd be dying to get out, too, because they're miserable places to live. Shitty climate, shitty politics, and many shitty people ... easy to leave.

But consider if you live in Hawaii (which I used to). It's paradise. It's beautiful, the climates is great, and apart from the politics - a more recent problem - it's great. It's where you grew up, it's where your family is, it's where your memories are, and it's still beautiful, and it still has a great climate. We play/practice baseball 52 weeks a year; it's why in tournaments we beat the balls off of teams from most of the rest of the country.

I'm reminded every day to be grateful.

Dennis Prager (tip 'o the hat to Thathalfafrican), in his book 'Happiness Is a Serious Problem', spends a bit of time on Gratitude as an element of happiness.

We can become so caught up in our problems and difficulties that we forget the infinity of blessings.

Everyone that I know is decently fed, decently housed and clothed, and unthreatened by war or violence. It isn't that way everywhere, and hasn't been.

The tendency is to compare our circumstances to others who we think are better off than we are, rather than feeling genuine gratitude for what WE do have.

440 Judge Emilio Chavez ordered charges to be dropped against Lucas Morton, his wife Subhannah Wahhaj and her sister Hujrah Wahhaj because prosecutors had failed to follow a procedural rule after they were charged and jailed.

Where are they living since the authorities destroyed their camp?

Anyone willing to bet that Subhannah and Hujra were not Laquisha and Lashonda before their conversion?

441 Check out this excerpt about Trump's diplomacy from Rolling Stone a few months back:

---------------------------------------------
This time, though, the photos turned out badly. When he emerged from his bargaining sessions, the president looked stung, like a small boy who had burned his fingers playing with a light socket. He came home empty-handed, and for once he was wearing the black hat - the man who said no to a historic opportunity. Confronted by the chance to become a genuine peacemaker, the president retreated in confusion.
---------------------------------------------

Oops. Nevermind. The magazine was Rolling Stone but the year was 1986, the president was Reagan, and the topic was the Cold War.

443 I used to think I knew something about business until it was proved to me that I didn't. But I think companies being political is dim-witted and rude.

Why do corporations give to political causes? They can't be written off like charitable contributions, right?

Silly me, I would think the company is there to profit the shareholders, and any political giving should be up to the those owners individually rather than the company. Even employees might've got a bit of bonus if the company hadn't supported some political cause, a cause which some employees might not support.

Not that this shields the corporation - I mean, it was the ChikFilA owner(s?) who gave to save marriage, not the company IIRC - and that didn't deflect the h8rs.

Just the principle of the thing. But what do I know? I'm just waiting for the ONT.

Oh! There it is!

449 Dude, guys, those of us who are familiar with Los Angeles machine politics know that Bauman is NOT a weaksauce guy. He pulls in serious money and has been a major political player. He was a Kingmaker in LA and had the power to destroy or help, and boy did he use it. Not a man one can easily mock without a side dose of intense admiration for exercising some serious political skill.

And five years later, the Soviet Union fell and the Seventy Year's War was ended (except for those bastard fifth columnists who still infest our country).

Oh, yeah. I'm old enough to remember when they were running the same playbook against Reagan that they're running now against Trump.

Trump is even more ZFG than Reagan was, though, so I don't think it's gonna work.
