Ann Althouse is right.

If Trump is considered a failure, America won't want another CEO in charge.

If Trump is considered a success, then America won't want to elect another person in his place.

If you're a CEO and suddenly want to run for president, you need Trump to be successful and re-elected.

Otherwise that angle is shot for at least a generation.

Bingo!

There it is. The accumulation of wealth, for the sake of wealth accumulation, is NOT an inherently conservative principle, and when the left is as voracious as it is to accumulate the totality of what constitutes power, it really is no surprise that a high percentage of successful business people are leftists.

The simple truth to remember is this: All that business about sharing the wealth, taking care of the poor and downtrodden? It's all bullshit. It always was. It always will be.

He will not run in the NC election so, I cannot vote for him. If he turns to philanthropy I cannot tell him how to spend his money.

Only ifhe want to run in the Presidential Election will I get a voice in the matter, and personally the way things are going for Trump so far, it will be suicide for anyone to run.

If I am the DNC in 2020, I wheel Hillary out. Move as much money out of the DNC and put it somewhere safe and let her go

So... let this guy walk away, take some less high profile position somewhere, probably with some lefty non-profit, then he can rebrand himself for politics, and the company can rebrand itself as not rayciss.

Win win win for the left. So yeah, the media is going to spin this whatever way they can, for maximum benefit for all. Truth and justice be damned.

158 If you're a CEO and suddenly want to run for president, you need Trump to be successful and re-elected.

Otherwise that angle is shot for at least a generation.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison

She's wrong for more than one reason.

First, Trump wasn't elected because he was a CEO. He was elected because everyone knew his name, aka Q score. He won because he had cultural cache from being a celebrity, not from being a businessman - that's coincidental. ( think how many 1000's of successful biz people are out there with zero fame )

We're in the age of celebrity and it's time the GOP work with this reality.

Obama was made a celebrity in a years time before he was elected by an overly-enthusiastic MSM in non-stop 24/7 propaganda mode. The GOP will never be able to replicate that because of the MSM's leftist nature.

Another CEO could run and win again as long as that person is a household name. The era of the 'Statesman,' if it ever existed is over.

344 OT/Also, Miss America contest will no longer have a swimsuit or evening gown competition. Women will wear what they feel comfortable in.

It will no longer be a pageant...but a competition.

The mission statement changed too, but I didn't memorize it. I thought for sure Ace would have already posted, but I didn't see it.

I have not watched the show in decades, but it will be interesting to see how this evolves. It'll be a viewer draw in the beginning to see the changes...after that...not so sure.

I'm surprised the pageants are still around. With tech and media allowing viewing of many beautiful women everyday, and the changed role of women in society, it really is from a bygone era.

Helps that I work in an office where everyone literally likes everyone else. There are almost a dozen women here, and they all get along with one another as well as with all the men. There's no gossip, shenanigans, backbiting. It is literally best office I have ever worked in, and I never want to leave.

388 A kidr even many adults- will not believe that it wasn't in some way their fault, or that they should have been able to have done something, although if you have to take your life because of depression I suppose it's better to leave that kind of note. I have shared this before. I was nine when my dad disappeared-never found his body, no note. Don't know if got lost in the woods of Canada or just killed himself there. It took me years and counseling to stop thinking "If I had gone fishing with him this wouldn't have happened."

And yes, I'm o.k. and have been for years. last time there was talk of depression on here I left an article-a woman posted a picture of her daughter before her husband killed himself and a post about what suicide does to survivors. If anyone is that depressed here cal a suicide helpline now. people in your life need you. It doesn't matter if you think they don't.
