Now Mossberg Discontinues Sales to Dick's Sporting Goods, Too

First, Springfield Armory decided to sellcot the 2nd-Amendment hostile Dick's.

Then MKS Supply severed ties.

And now Mossberg.

Virtual signalling and alienating customers to get nice articles written about you for the non-customer's of Buzzfeed's audience will cost you real cash money.

Their press release:

Mossberg(R) Terminates Relationship with Dick's Sporting Goods

NORTH HAVEN, CT -- O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, announced today its decision to discontinue selling products to Dick's Sporting Goods, and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring of gun control lobbyists in April 2018.

Effective immediately, O.F. Mossberg & Sons will not accept any future orders from Dick's Sporting Goods or Field & Stream, and is in the process of evaluating current contractual agreements.

"It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control," said Iver Mossberg, Chief Executive Officer of O.F. Mossberg & Sons. "Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick's Sporting Goods' recent anti-Second Amendment actions."

Consumers are urged to visit one of the thousands of pro-Second Amendment firearm retailers to make their purchases of Mossberg and Maverick(R) firearms. Firearm retailers can be found through the Mossberg Dealer Locator by visiting http://www.mossberg.com/dealers.

I'd note there's really no need to buy baskeballs or hockey sticks from Dick's, either.

As a not entirely wise man once said: You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists.

Sorta Off-Topic...

But Amazon could put Big Box stores like Dicks out of business overnight by just cloning their stores, but instead of purchasing them in store you scan the products QR code into your phone's "Amazon Shop" ap that instantly orders the product to be delivered to your place in the next day or two. Personally, the only two reasons I don't shop online is because I need to check it out in person or try on the size. And if you only need to stock one or two items of each size/color/model than you can have much, much more choice of products on the store floor. (but again... it might be a little icky to try on a shirt that 200 people have already tried on before you.)

The hair color thing doesn't hold up here. Lots of odd fashions that don't fly in the Lower 48 are just fine up here. Lots of leggings with bum covers, hair dyed to match crazy painted fabrics, etc. For guys its jeans and flannel shirts, or polos (without fancy embroidered crap), and running shoes or boots.

That's just the professionals, like judges, lawyers, architects and engineers.

Everybody dresses however they damned well feel like.

Avenatti Accuses The Wrong Michael Cohens Of Making 'Fraudulent' Payments

Michael Avenatti, porn star Stormy Daniels' lawyer, released a seven-page dossier on Tuesday containing a list of payments purportedly made to Michael Cohen, the lawyer for President Donald Trump.

But there is one problem with the document: two of the allegedly "fraudulent" payments were made to men named Michael Cohen who have no affiliation with Trump.

Avenatti's report includes a section listing "possible fraudulent and illegal financial transactions" involving Trump's lawyer.

I will admit I was one of the very first Amazon customers. Jumped on it as soon as it went live. Just books back then. I received so many Amazon mugs at first. Then they started going cheap and giving us bookmarks, then it all stopped. No more gifts.

I haven't heard of any states that require bolt action, but don't some states have a limit on shotgun magazine capacity for certain hunts?

I think you can get plugs that go in the magazine tubes of pump actions to reduce the capacity.

I'm not sure if that model was in response to a particular state's limits.

It just looked funny compared to what we normally used to hunt with back home in Alabama. Mostly doubles, Long Toms (those things were awesome to shoot, they'd tear your shoulder right off.) and over-and-under squirrel guns.

As you can tell, we went after small game. Mmmm, fried rabbit...

Boston Store, which was THE high end department store around these parts for many years, announced last week it is going out of business and I and every woman I know has the sadz about it. I remember getting dressed up and taking the bus downtown with mom to shop at Boston and Gimbels and have lunch at the Walgreen's lunch counter - Gimbels and the Walgreen's lunch counter disappeared a long time. Ah, when shopping was a Big Event....

I like buying books online. Cosmetics and clothes - no. For one thing, women's sizes are so variable depending on the brand. When I was my ideal weight, I wore anything from a size 6 to a 10. And sometimes something that looks good on the rack doesn't look so great when you try it on - you don't like how it hangs on your body. As for cosmetics, it's hard enough to figure out what shades of lipstick look good on you when you're in the store - looking at colors on a computer screen. No! I've purchased perfume online but only after I had tried it on in person and knew that it was a good scent for me. You can't buy every damn thing online.

366 Will Camera Hogg and Shaved Guevara now start a campaign to buy at Dick's? Or, more likely, buy A Dick?

Posted by: mercenary13 at May 09, 2018 06:43 PM (Wh/do)
............

More likely at Supercuts.

367 could be 100 percent off on this, and I have no
idea what kind of upper management Dick's has, but they probably were
advised via their PR team (most likely located in NYC) to do this
because someone decided it was a good PR move for the company.

I worked in a large global PR firm in NYC and they are full of
liberal idiots who have no idea what 'flyover' country is like or wants.
It's a wonder I met my conservative Christian husband there - I guess
we were both behind enemy lines!

(We are creatives so not actual PR people... Imagine my glee when GWB won reelection... and then my remorse when the O won)

*runs off to google their PR firm*

Posted by: Roxanne, Roxanne at May 09, 2018 06:23 PM (xU7mE)

That is a good business idea. Someone should start a red state PR firm to advise the NY ones when they are too much in their bubble. And charge them out the wazoo for the info lol.

368 >>>>>Everything that Russia has to export now is going through pipelines into Europe.

They'd get plenty of investment if they had a way to get the oil to the world market.

And the Persian Gulf is key to that.

.
.Sorry but how would that be different than what is going on now? Russia is literally selling every single barrel of oil and cubic foot of Natural Gas that they can produce right now to Europe.

They literally can't expand their production anymore and lack of markets isn't even in the top 100 on the list of why they can't expand.

And they are not going to open up their oil fields to foreign investors or NGO's.

I've been calling her "Tardy Gonzales".

Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia, Pope Alexander VI at May 09, 2018 06:50 PM (GXOTw)

371 >>Yep, that's the 1950s and 1960s talking. Everything that Russia has to export now is going through pipelines into Europe. They don't need a "warm water port".

You should take a look at the Iran-Syria pipeline project that was well under way as the war in Iraq broke out. They've never given up on that plan and they do indeed desperately want a warm water port in the Med.

Syria specifically.

372 Dicks is based in Western PA, and the pro gun control stance has been made by the son of the founder. I don't know their politics at all. Dicks stock is down about 50% y/y, but I suspect that's a function of competition with Amazon, Eastbay and alternatives, plus the decision to add many old locations of the failed Sports Authority chain.
What is curious, is that there is not much positive press coverage for them over this move. They have put themselves in a bad spot. There is no such thing as "sensible gun control" in the eyes of the media and Dems, it's confiscation they demand. They may fear they will lose allot of affluent, suburban buyers in the deep blue North East and left Coast, but they did not admit customer concern was responsible for their decision.
But far, far worse is hiring the lobbyists, that's a serious strategic blunder for a business that has Flied & Stream as a unit and needs the goodwill of the industry.
It's going to be interesting if this effort gathers steam and more makers decline to sell to Dicks controlled entities.

375 RE: Dick's

1.Seek to unionize their workforce
2. Solicit discrimination claims/slip and fall cases.
3. Call the Fire Marshal, Building Inspector, OSHA, etc and report "something looks funny there."
4. Invite homeless campers to Dick's parking lots
5. Organize protests when they evict homeless campers
6. Etc.
