Jake Tapper Falsely Claims Scooter Libby "Leaked" Noted Anti-Semite Conspiracy Theorist Valerie Plame's Name to Press; Refuses to Correct

First, I wonder: If Jake Tapper is now so down on leaking, are there any highly-placed former Obama officials, like maybe someone with a last name who rhymes with his own, he'd like to denounce for leaking highly confidential national security information to him...?

Second: Read this for a recap on the Scooter Libby matter.

Libby was only convicted -- of perjury, not leaking; Fitzpatrick could not even get an indictment for leaking -- because Fitzpatrick misled Judith Miller about the facts of the matter and so elicited from her what she now calls "false" testimony in the prosecution of Libby. She recanted her testimony in 2015.

I'm not surprised leftist Jake Tapper doesn't know this -- his CNN buddies sure didn't devote much coverage. They wanted to keep their treasured memories of "Fitzmas."

Miller's assertions, which I wrote about last week in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, are fascinating--and important. In a more extensive online-only essay, I reexamined the entire trial and concluded that Fitzgerald's theory of the case was fundamentally flawed and that his unscrupulous conduct was not limited to withholding exculpatory evidence from Miller and the defense; I believe it extended to other prosecution witnesses as well. I also reviewed "The Stor"” for RCP.

Although I had no illusions that my interest would be matched by the left-liberal media, I did expect that Miller's claims about giving false testimony--and the consequent corruption of the jury verdict that found Libby guilty of obstruction of justice, making a false statement, and perjury--would spark at least a few days of debate. Perhaps I gave the establishment media too much credit.

...

The writer then notes that media reviews dealt with Judith Miller's explosive revelations about being tricked into false testimony curiously -- by kinda-sorta not mentioning it at all, thus keeping this information from spreading. (More people read book reviews than the books themselves, of course.

Eric Wemple, for example, didn't mention this entire part of the book in his review -- leading this author to question whether he'd actually read it to the end.

Why else would Wemple choose not to write about Miller's stunning disclosure that Libby lawyer Joseph Tate told her, "Fitzgerald had twice offered to drop all charges against Libby if his client would 'deliver' Cheney to him"?

...

By acknowledging her mistaken testimony in the Libby trial, Judith Miller has given the left-liberal media an opportunity to correct the profoundly flawed account it promulgated of Patrick Fitzgerald’s prosecution of Scooter Libby. The early indications at the New York Times and the Washington Post are not heartening. We could use more journalists with the guts and the integrity that Miller has displayed in setting the record straight.

And Jake Tapper -- who likes to preen about his courage and righteousness while displaying very little of said advertised qualities, kind of a miniature yapping terrier version of James Comey -- is not one of those people.

This recap of the piece at Commentary explains that Scooter Libby couldn't have "leaked" the notorious anti-semitic conspiracy theorist Valerie Plame's name because it had already been leaked by Colin Powell's flunkie Richard Armitage. It came up in a conversation with reporters, including Tim Russert and Judith Miller, only because Tim Russert brought it up -- he'd seen an embargoed copy of Richard Novak's column disclosing Richard Armitage's leak. The column was not yet published, but was available to journalists to gossip about privately.

And no one needed to confirm the name, either: A guy at the CIA had already done that, and so too had Karl Rove.

When Libby was asked about it, he said something like "I'm surprised you know about that."

But you can't leak something that Tim Russert already knows has been leaked and confirmed by a second source. The journalistic fact is already known. There's nothing left to "leak." You can offer your reactions on it, your take on it, etc., but you can't offer up the information itself. That's already been offered by someone else.

(Oh, and Fitzpatrick couldn't prove that Valerie Plame's status was covert, either. She was, as many on the right said, a known, overt analyst of the CIA. Not any kind of behind-the-lines superspy. She did what no covert spy would do, every day: She drove her car right into CIA headquarters at Langley.)

But Jake Tapper just keeps doubling down that.

He claims that in closing argument Fitzpatrick referenced Libby supposedly talking about Valerie Plame. But that doesn't mean he "leaked" it -- that horse done already fled the barn.

He refused to mention Valerie Plame's anti-semitic outbursts on his show, of course. I remember, back when I used to think I could possibly persuade this former spokesman for Handgun Control, Inc. and former Salon reporter to report actual news on his show, asking him when he would ever mention Valerie Plame's claim that the Jews start all of the wars.

I think he did the Jake Tapper Special -- maybe some desultory mention on his Twitter account. But a mention on his actual news program on CNN?

Nope!

All leftists cocksuckers, such as Jake Tapper, have fond, fond memories of Patrick Fitzgerald's political prosecution of Scooter Libby, and they won't clearly state Libby never leaked Plame's name (reporters already knew it) and they sure the hell won't report that the Super Spy they used to White Knight for so damn hard was not only not a Super Spy but an anti-semitic crank who had a pretty good idea of who the real bad guys were in the Middle East. (Hint: The Jews, in her expert analysis.)

Jake Tapper sucks all the cock. Not just some of the cock. Not just this cock or that cock.

No, Jake Tapper sucks all of the cock.

And frankly far too many people on the right give him a pass on his infinite cocksuckery.

Because some people on the nominal right are much, much too flattered by the many hours he spends doing his own PR, sliding into people's DMs to give his reasons why he couldn't report this or that, or that he asked Barack Obama one single tough question with no follow-up back in 2010, or whatever.

The guy fucking sits on his Twitter account all day attempting to flatter and spin critics.

Don't take it as actual flattery. It's just that this pissant spends an awful lot of time on the internet, and doesn't apparently have much else to do.

94 I mentioned before that Varney interviewed Judith Miller this morning on Fox Business. Not only did she say it is about time, but she has been fighting for this for years. She stated there was never any factual evidence for the conviction. She was contrite and apologetic for her role in this.

But not Jake Tapper. He is going to keep sucking that giant bag of dicks through his nostrils.

I am a little tired of people like Jake destroying our country and turning people against each other for a bunch of verifiable lies my dog could figure out. It is deliberate and damaging on purpose. He should be loathed and become an outcast from our society.

96 Its not just Tapper. CNN's pet former FBI agent Asha Rangappa is saying the same thing. When literally hundreds of people point out her falsehoods, with links FROM CNN, she keeps saying the same thing and arguing its true.

Now I can't decide here.

Is this because they genuinely have no idea, no clue what the truth is, after such a short time or just never knew at all to begin with? Were they that ignorant of the events during the investigation?

Or is this their new narrative, trying to manipulate the story and hoping everyone forgot??

104 Paddy had been drinking at his local pub all day and most of the night, celebrating St Patrick's Day.

Mick, the bartender says, 'You'll not be drinking anymore tonight, Paddy'.

Paddy replies, 'OK Mick, I'll be on my way then'. Paddy spins around on his stool and steps off. He falls flat on his face.

'Darn' he says and pulls himself up by the stool and dusts himself off. He takes a step towards the door and falls flat on his face, 'oh bloody me!'

He looks to the doorway and thinks to himself that if he can just get to the door and some fresh air he'll be fine.

He belly crawls to the door and shimmies up to the door frame. He sticks his head outside and takes a deep breath of fresh air, feels much better and takes a step out onto the sidewalk and falls flat on his face.

'Bi' Jesus... I'm in bloody trouble,' he says.

He can see his house just a few doors down, and crawls to the door, hauls himself up the door frame, opens the door and shimmies inside.

He takes a look up the stairs and says 'No bloody way....'

He crawls up the stairs to his bedroom door and says 'I can make it to the bed'. He takes a step into the room and falls flat on his face. He says 'darn it' and crawls into bed.

The next morning, his wife, Jess, comes into the room carrying a cup of coffee and says, 'Get up Paddy. Did you have a bit to drink last night ?'

Paddy says, 'I did, Jess. I was bloody stoned . But how did you know?'

'Mick phoned .. . . You left your wheelchair at the pub.'

We will have to disagree on that.

It was the potential stigma of having a stain on his legacy.

As opposed to the temerity to help a wrongly convicted man who was the victim of people who put politics above country.

Do not forget Comey was involved with this, and along with Fitzgerald pushed it in front of a jury when they knew he was innocent.

This world would be a better place if both of those moterfuckers were hit with a flamethrower.

As someone who has never defended either, all I can say is no one, especially a world leader, wants to be made to look like a stupid idiot. GWB repeated many times the leak was not from the White House, and promised if it was, there would be a punishment.

I always thought Scooter was the fall guy. But maybe there was more to it. Maybe he straight out lied to Bush's face. I don't know. But there had to be something that prevented the pardon. Rush is fine and has done a lot of good work for years, but too many
commercials (all the conservative talk radio has too many commercials)
and he can very funny, but my heart belongs to Mark Steyn. He is
brilliant and has a very dry sense of humor,

I think AM radio is having a hard time bringing in the ad bucks these days. Even harder for conservative leaners. I'd like to see or hear more from Mark Steyn.

249 207, I cut Dubya an awful lot of slack for a long time because I too appreciated his leadership in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. also, I spent years defending him and getting into screaming matches with lefty relatives about him.Its hard to admit you were wrong about someone you invested so much emotional energy into defending. IF he had kept his mouth shut about Trump, I would have forgiven him for keeping his mouth shut about Obama for 8 years. YEah, I realize he was offended by Trumps attacks on Jeb. but he put family loyalty before the good of the country. any affection and respect I once had for the man has vanished - because of his own words and actions. he betrayed us.

I sure do.

Actually, this is one of those "glass house" deals. Yes, he was a monumental hypocrite.

Yes, he sinned badly, and didn't do a very good job of atonement.

OTOH, we all have our vices, and sins, and some are more egregious than others, and if we are honest, we will see that we justify doing those things in all sorts of ways, all the while knowing what we do is wrong. It is human nature. Some are better at this than others.

Why do you suppose he was so hard on drug users? Because he despised his own drug use and himself for using, but he couldn't see how to get clear.

So, if you have never sinned, I guess it is okay to rip him up for that, but....

Oh bullshit. He only admitted whatever he admitted, maybe once, in order to avoid prison first, and then to keep his station second. The man routinely dismissed easily defeated arguments from various Leftists simply because they used drugs. Lazy bullshit soundbites to fit in between commercial breaks and because a large portion of his audience are also useful idiots. Same as The Lefts useful idiots. Rush Limbaugh is as establishment as it gets. No principles - and he's rich beyond all measure due to them.

No conservative radio has any major Ad Agency buys on its airwaves. You never hear of a Chevy, Crest, Lowe's or other name brand product advertise. That is not by accident, according to Savage, all major ads are controlled by 4 leftist leaning Agencies. All of them boycott all conservative radio. Even on FOX TV, only some of them advertise.

That's why conservative listeners buy about 90% of all MyPillows, and sleep better, too.

258 Sebastian,
What he did was distance and neuter Cheney/Libby/etc starting about 2003-4 along with Rumsfeld by relying more heavily on Powell, and later Rice.

Given that Cheney knew where the bodies were buried, GW did not publicly defend him nor badmouth him then and probably did not want to risk a counter tell all book by Cheney if he attacked Cheney out of office. The bloom was definitely off the rose during Bush's second term--you might remember all of the speculation that Cheney would be dumped as VP in 2004. Bush could have quashed that.

Cheney's daughter wanted a political career so it would not be prudent for Cheney to retaliate other than leaking the disagreement over Scooter's pardon. I knew the guy as a House member. He was an ok guy.

Because he's a lazy hack. A glaring symptom of all that is wrong with out discourse today. One might even argue that he invented the very style in 1990-whatever that will lead to the coming Second Civil War.

262 246 runner,
The whole thing was Armitage fessed up to the prosecutor early so was not charged with anything. Now, it probably would have been a tougher case to prove as you would have to prove that Plame was still covert and that Armitage knew that fact. Easier to get providing a false statement.

I suspect that the real purpose was to get Scooter and then flip him on Cheney for anything that Fitzgerald could conjure up. That is what the lefties thought they were getting on fitzmas if not GW himself.

I sure don't. Going into rehab was how a friend of mine avoided prison. The threat saved her. And for Limbaugh it was in '03, so he'd been on air for 15 years, not 20 as you claim, the vast majority of which was spent on topics besides drugs. I barely remember Rush talking about drugs at all.

He got addicted to painkillers prescribed to him. He wasn't some loser shooting up beneath an overpass or wasting his life away smoking dope in mom's basement.

Oooh, did I just make drug abusers out to be "Devils"? Kind of hyperbolic, huh?
Posted by: Hands at April 13, 2018 08:05 PM (EzdLW)

I remember back then the MSM, aka Democrat Press Machine, tried to smear Rush with his painkiller problem as often as they could. He was essentially deaf, and being that his only career was as a talk show host, looking at a forced retirement in his early 50's and nowhere to go.

Not justifying anything, but put yourself in that situation.

And the press? It was kind of a warmup to the Trump smearing of today.

Now, the MyPillow guy? He was a drunken drug addict all the way, and pulled his ass out of the abyss. Really a turnaround story about him.

Again, I don't judge, just get them sober and moving in a positive direction. Life is too short otherwise.

Please don't go so hard on poor Jake. He doesn't, actually, get to suck all the cock, and is clearly distraught that Comey picked Stephie to give the first blowjob of his book tour. Remember in your teens, when a girl tuned you down? That's how Poor Jake feels now. He thought he and Comey were made for each other; two straight shooters with but a single thought, two hearts that beat as one. And now Comey's straight shooting is into Stephanopolis's mouth.

281 Oh, and Fitzpatrick couldn't prove that Valerie Plame's status was covert, either. She was, as many on the right said, a known, overt analyst of the CIA. Not any kind of behind-the-lines superspy.

----

I remember it well, she testified that she was a catergory fifty two bravo blah blah personell. Basically, she refused to answer the question, stating that she was an employee of an agency that employs covert agents....and thus she could be, based on a confused reading of plain english, not say that she was statutorily not a covert agent.

fucking liars.

also, she totally got the idea to send her husband to Libya or whatever because some random guy popped into the CIA building and suggested him.
