NFL Cancels Final Sunday Night Game of Season

Well, the game isn't cancelled exactly; rather, its Sunday night airing time is. The NFL uses some kind of "flex time" system to change the kickoff times of Sunday games so that they put the best game available on Sunday night.

This year they're not bothering to move any games into the Sunday night slot.

It's New Years Eve -- when few people watch anyway -- and the only games they could move have little interest for fans.

And also, people are just kind of sick of the NFL.

The kind of interesting thing to me is how it happened:

1) Players Kneel.
2) Trump tweets.
3) NFL doubles down.
4) Preference cascade of all of the little annoyances just snowballing down the hill.

The players shot themselves and everyone in the NFL in the foot. However, if it had not been the kneeling, would it have been something else? Kapernick is just a symptom of the disease.

Aetius put his finger on something.

There is a lot of free-floating resentment, anger, and distaste out there - all well justified - towards the cultural depradations of the racist authoritarians. The NFL, by indulging the stupid racist counter-factual classless crap from a few players, presented itself as a great target for some pay-back.

Could be I'm imagining this, but I think that back whenever the San Jose Sharks franchise started, they had more black in their uniforms than any other pro sports team. Interestingly, their merchandise sales broke records, and were not just regional.

I think that is when the marketing folks noticed - and check out the number of all teams in all sports, pro and not, who now have some or lots of black in their colors, where they didn't before.

San Diego State is one of the few teams that's had mostly black uniforms for decades. They didn't change theirs much.

Dear mouth-breathing, jingoistic retards:
We've notice that you flag-humping inbred toothless hicks haven't been going to our games. We understand that your racist, sexist, white privilege blinds you from understanding the systematic oppression our players go through every day, as well as all people of color. We know that you just can't help but blindly hate women, blacks, and the LGBTWTFBBQ community, any more than you can resist screwing your sister, chewing tobacco or keeping busted appliances and cars on blocks in your front yard. We are truly sorry that your limited intelligence, brought on through years of inbreeding, won't let you understand the grand gestures our players are making every time they shit on the American flag. We would like to mend fences, and hope you return to our games. As an incentive, we will have a monthly raffle for a double-wide and a genuine copper moonshining still. We know you white trash love that shit. So come on down, as they say in the language of your people, and rejoin us in this great tradition of football!

you know, what could make an "XFL" work would be weight limits. No linemen over 280 lb
No linebackers over 230 lb.
No running backs over 210 lb.

The NFL players have gotten so YUGE, they are killing each other. There are so many players coming out of college every year, there would be plenty of guys that would and could play in a weight-limited league.

And it might just be entertaining. Back in the 60's, offensive linemen actually got out and ran in power sweeps, and did downfield blocking. Watch some of Jim Brown's great runs, and he actually had linemen running downfield with him.

122 The NFL wanted to make sure that all the games that really count, which are three games that involve teams that are on the bubble to get into the playoffs, are played at exactly the same time on Sunday afternoon. Each of the teams needs to win their own game, as well as have the "help" of a particular team in one of the other two games played at the same time, in order to make the playoffs.

So it is a scheduling thing to make sure that all three games have maximum effort, since as the players are playing they won't know the outcome of the other two games.

I hope that made sense.

This. The utter contempt the players and owners hold the customers is pretty damning. That they pay for their lavish lifestyles, while ignoring their many criminal acts, was kind of the poke in the eye people needed to see the league for what it was.

People were in love with the NFL for what they thought it was: competition, hometown pride, excellence, meritocracy in it's highest form, watching it with their Dad's, Grandpa's and Uncles. Remembering moments like "The Catch".

All the players did was lift the cloak obscuring us from seeing what the NFL actually is: an overweight, thuggish jackass who hates you and feels that YOU OWE HIM YOUR MONEY.

To all of which, I say 'Nuts.'

190 The table-top hockey games with the rods and movable players were the best. You could curve the sticks (thin metal). Goal light would go on when you scored.

But as I recall, only the right winger usually could score. Other positions rarely did.

Yeah, that's what the oncologist said. The medication I'm on is designed to boost my immune system, and this could be an unwelcome side effect.

But like I said, I have had flareups in the past before I started the treatment.

Posted by: Roc Ingersol at December 28, 2017 08:04 PM (2DOZq)

291 Remember the Left's War on Toxic Masculinity? The NFL protests are just the latest manifestations of it.

First, they screamed about the Washington Redskins, and attempted to start a racial brush fire by shrieking about the allegedly "racist" moniker. America yawned.

Then, they attacked ALL of football, citing the violence of the sport, and whining about head injuries.

And now, through Kaepernick and his idiot disciples, they have found their vehicle. As with Ferguson, Missouri, they have talked lots and lots of "African-Americans" into burning down their own neighborhood, and have announced plans to spend upwards of 90 million dollars injecting this poison into the college game.

They genuinely couldn't stand seeing America enjoying football as our most popular national sport. They hated seeing the flag and the military flyovers. They also hated the distinctive masculinity inherent in the game.

If they succeed in poisoning the college game, they will succeed in their efforts to move us into a Pajama Boy culture of weeping, useless beta-males.
