What's amusing is how they try to drag Trump into every aspect of this scandal. When reporting/reacting on Weinstein story they are compelled to mention Trump, replay the 'pussy' video. When Rose McGowan was suspended on Twitter the response was "so you allow Trump but not Rose!?!?"

He is so totally living in their heads they cannot *not* include him.
What they fail to see about their Weinstein = Trump is that they are acknowledging that that guy they've been demonizing for the past year as "literally Hitler"? Yeah, you've just said you've had a literally Hitler in your midst for decades and you did nothing about it. #Courage

Are States still required to comply with Obamacare mandated coverage? If so, allowing across state lines business won't make that big of a difference at this time. The money saver was carriers being able to sell policies from one state that had less regulation to another state that had more. If they are still bound by Obamacare that requires coverage for mammograms as an example, then the cost savings are minimal.

Schoen, Pat Caddell and John LeBoutillier used to have an internet show called 'Political Insiders' on Fox. It was some of the best analysis and very, very honest. Schoen was old-fashioned D all the way (worked for Clintons); the Boot was an East-Coast liberal R; and Caddell was the wild-eyed libertarian (even though he is a long-time D consultant). Meh. Remote property management, unless you have trusted friends and family in the remote area, is hazardous. Even if it is the overpriced bay area, you are better investing in local rental property.

161 The best way to have rental property is hire an agency to do everything.

This is so. Wife owns a condo in Naples. It was "trying" to manage from up-here even when a goodbuddy was tenanting. Got linked up to a small-time local manager as friend moved on, and he brings the pre-approved tenant and the handyman connections. Definitely worth it.

This is a great time to buy in much of coastal Florida and Texas. And the Gulf Coast. Sounds cold-blooded? Yes. And there are property people who play that storm cycle, too.

I like the Taurus Judge Public Defender. 5 shot revolver you can shoot .410 or .45 out of the end of the barrel thingy. Shock with birdshot and finish with .45. I would not use buckshot since the spread can go past both sides of your target even if it's just 10 feet away.

17 yr old Kate Beckinsale, summoned to Uncle Harvey's room at the Savoy, brought up by Harv's butt boys and girls.

He greets her in his bathrobe.

She says he hit on her several times over the years since.

Yet you'll find many a picture of her smiling and hugging Uncle Harv.

Oh, and Uncle Harv destroyed a young man, an actor, who had the audacity to warn off another young girl from going to see Harvey.

Cock block Harvey and he destroys you.

Pedro Cortes, Pennsylvania's secretary of state, abruptly resigned from office Wednesday, three weeks after his agency came under criticism for a glitch that may have allowed thousands of ineligible immigrants statewide to vote.

Cortes' departure was announced in a 349-word "personnel update" emailed from Gov. Wolf's office that offered no reason and focused almost entirely on his replacement, interim Secretary of State Robert Torres.

Just 14 of the words were about Cortes, who also served as secretary of state from 2003 to 2010 under Gov. Ed Rendell.

J.J. Abbott, a spokesman for Wolf, said he could not offer an explanation for Cortes' departure.

187 This Harvey Weinstein issue leaves me so incredulous is that all these "alleged" sexual harassment/abuse/rapes was tolerated for so long.

Anybody who works in Corporate America has been subjected to Sexual Harassment Awareness Training, had to sign documents acknowledging company policy, etc. etc.

A joke can't be told anymore. Not because it would offend the person the joke is told to, but that someone three cubes away who overhears it and becomes offended. This results in several trips to the boss' office, to HR and quite possibly out the door for the last time.

And yet, the class of people (whorewood types) who embrace women's rights, empowering women and urging women (rightfully so) to speak up against actual abuse and harassment are the ones who REMAINED SILENT. Even within Disney, Weinstein Co.- there'd have to be similar HR policies as mentioned above. Yet this behavior was tolerated, and even accommodated. How can they ever be taken seriously? (if they ever were to begin with).

But here many of us sit - cube dwellers - and we sit in fear of being accused of harassment, fear of our career becoming a turd circling the drain.

However, that was because of the appreciation of the underlying real estate, NOT because of the rental income, nearly all of which had to be plowed back into cleaning, maintenance, and paying off the property.

194 Good morning all

First of, I know this is late, and I am not sure if he is around, but I just wanted to say to Hrothgar, that my thoughts and prayers were with him and his family. Remember, when someone you love passes, their love does not. The love they gave, and that was given to them, remains with you, with all those who were loved and by all of the Hrothgar family. Please keep stopping by, if not for anything, Ace's site has always been a ray of hope, and given me cause to smile, through some of my own tough times.

Now onward and upward - first off: the MSM's continued attempt to compare Weinstein's actual rape-rape, sexual harassment, sexual battery and other lewd and disgusting behaviors to an offhand comment by Trump, of a hypothetical situation, only serves to elucidate the fact that Trump's situation was a big nothingburger. It also serves to highlight the continued hypocritical and morally bankrupt position of the far left and, I think, is the first real crack in the armor of the MSM's made up "noble truth tellers" baloney (you all know my position on the media and how it has been a whore in service of others since, well since Gutenberg invented the printing press. This made up "nobleness" they invented in the 60s and 70's is BS). Once you see the old guy behind the curtain - does any one really believe Oz is great and powerful?

I also note that Shrillary os giving 10% of HV's contribuition to "charity" - hmmm - so all that "all rape victims must be believed" was just BS wasn't it Hill? - you disgusting conniving b*tch.

So - for Hillary -

Old and busted: "Glass ceiling"

New and hawt: "Glass kneeling"

Anyway - satisfied smile on my Yankees winning the ALDS - my heart goes out to the Cleveland fans - having lived through the NY Rangers "1940" business I know what it is like to not have a championship for a while. That team, frankly, scared the bejeezus out of me and the Yanks really did pull a real rabbit out of the hat with some fine pitching, opportunistic base running and timely hitting. Joe G did an excellent job managing in the last three games ( after doing a fairly poor job in games one and particularly 2 - should have left CC in for another inning and should have challenged that hit batsman call).

Oh well - off to pop some moar popcorn and watch the hawt left on left violence. Latest up? Kate Bekinsale said she had the paw put on her. Well I can forgive HV for that one as I am not sure I could control myself around that hottie. . . . But I digress.

Oh and lastly - the retards in the DNC think that Moore's winning the repub nod has put Alabama "in play": for a democratic pickup in the Senate. Mmm hmmm. "polls" only have him with single digits leads - of course those single digits are anywhere from a comfortable 6 or 7 points to a blwout 10. So you will forgive me if I don't start quaking any time soon. It was a divisive primary and the thoiught thta Alabama is going top pick a Hillary or Bermie DC insider guy over a " kill `em all, let God sort `em out" type like Moore has NOT been paying attention. But here's to hoping the leftards pour lots of hard earned out of state $$$ that could be used elsewhere into this contest - after all I am sure, just like Texas, Alabama is just ready to turn blue!

All they have to do is stop talking about him and it's over.

They've done this before and Weinstein is going through the steps taken by others:

1. story can't be held off any longer by normal means
2. So big liberal media outlet takes it on so as to shape it and ride herd on it so that they will be the ones to shut it down.
3. the target lawyers up and goes to rehab preferably in another country. (just in case)
4.
when the Times decides enough words have been said and some lower level
roaches have been exterminated. they'll shut the story down. Remember
all they have to do is not print anything.
5. When the story dies
down, Weinstein (if a DA hasn't indicted him) will return all apologetic
and throwing money around and on the talk shows crying about he was an
Addict and needed help so please feel sorry for him. And all those who
claimed he did this or that? Well their careers were dying and thought
this would be a boost don't cha know.

And he'll be on the late night with jimmy kimmel
and they'll yuck it up. And when he's been sufficiently sanitized the
pols will start being seen with him again. Maybe a dedication to some
rehab in Cali.

Soon no one will say anymore about this and you and I will stand
here with open mouths while he proceeds to recover his career and
influence without being punished or even being censored.

Weinstein isn't
like Cosby. Cosby started to piss people off so they went after him.
Weinstein got so blatant about his perversion that the story was going
to break no matter what.

215 145 Who is this nameless mystery "maintainence man" with Campos? An illegal alien? A Muslim? An FBI agent?

Maintenance man is not nameless, but his appearance is sudden and unexpected.

His name is Stephen Schuck. NBC had him on to interview.
______________

CBS has a story online about this. Says the Schuck guy went up to check on the fire door, and he found the security guard (Campos) hiding behind part of a wall and being shot at. Shuck called the hotel people and told them to call police because somebody was firing a rifle on the 32nd floor.

The CBS story also says that MGM Resorts (which owns Mandalay Bay) is disputing the cops' timeline (the current one). Curious about that. The cops won't say when the first 911 call came in from MB about the shooting going on there.

Still no info about why the security guard, Jesus Campos, wasn't registered (as required by law) under that name in Nevada's security guard registry. It's also curious that we haven't seen any photos of this Campos guy. Does he have something to hide?

223 215 145 Who is this nameless mystery "maintainence man" with Campos?

Does he have something to hide?

all these actresses resent getting on their knees for Weinstein, so "act out" against decent men across the country by becoming man hating feminists. Now we know the source of their real rage.

All Hollywood should be revealed as anti-feminist, anti-liberty. That "long haired freaky people need not apply" song roasted rednecks. But that was mostly BS. The real song would be "be as freaky as you want, but before you get a job ... first you will blo me".

They must be made to live up to their own rules. Every actress/actor that trashes Trump over fake gossip, should be asked if she ever did sexual favors to advance her career. If they don't answer, say "that's OK, we know all you hypocrites did it".

Which Harvey did more damage, the storm or the perv?
---

1. Harvey the storm impacted regular tax payers and disrupted their lives in ways I can't even imagine.

2. Harvey the perv preyed on "our betters" in the media and Hollyweird.

#1, real people.
#2 fake people.

I vote that Harvey the storm did more damage, simply because it has impacted more real people with real lives, as opposed to impacting fake people with manufactured lives.

That being said, the MSM will talk endlessly about Harvey the perv, because OMG, I MET HIM ONCE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME!!!!

You'd prove it the same way you prove any type of sexual assault case where there were no other witnesses or videos (i.e., most sexual assault cases): by having the victim testify about what happened, having people who saw her afterwards testify to her appearance and demeanor (e.g., shocked, crying, disheveled, whatever), having people from the hotel testify that their business records show that Harvey Weinstein was staying in that hotel on that date, etc.

IOW, the prosecutor can make the case if the victim is credible. The jury may or may not believe her, but that is true in all sexual assault cases, no matter when the assault took place.

EO seems (seems) like its only real impact might be on small business, which might be allowed to behave rationally (well, "insurance companies"* might be able behave normally, in selling to them).

When the individual market was annihilated, overnight, with 300-400% instant premium boosts a few years ago, it wasn't state regulation that changed (though states can, and do, make things even worse in some cases). It was O-care's "reforms" that caused it. I don't think this EO will change any of that.

And, timing. Cannot imagine that "insurance companies" will be able to incorporate any changes into the coming "enrollment season", not enough time. Though that could be wrong. Some here seem to think, for some reason, that these outfits forgot how to do things the way they did, pre-O-care, which of course isn't true. It's been clear since at least the failed partial repeal vote, if not before, that Congress wasn't going to do anything.

A tragedy Trump didn't approach this topic exactly as he has done with "environmental" nonsense (aggressive unapologetic action across the board, from Paris accord to EPA budgeting and personnel etc.). Stop paying the illegal company subsidies. Have HHS waive the bejeesus out of every key element of the law (this discretion is provided by the law). FORCE action. Oh well. The nearly 20 million will have to hold on longer, until something is really done.

* Insurance companies, in the health area, have been transformed into a toxic frankensteinresembling regulated utilities, the "market"has little market element left, at any level, and was this way prior to O-care thanks to state misregulation, oligopoly, captured regulation, Medicare, etc. O-carejust completed the vandalism.

355 I'm dreading a memorial service we're attending weekend after this for a friend who passed away way too soon.

She was diagnosed with cancer in the spring and managed to live for four months after the diagnosis. Leaves behind a husband and three teen children.

Her husband wants to make it a celebration of her life (she was always the life of any party), and one of my best friends is helping put it together. So there's that.

359 You mean a REIT? I own shares of a REIT ETF. I was looking for more substantial cash returns.

And for the recommendations regarding law, Bay Area and California in general are among the worst in the country for landlords. I was looking to invest out of state for that very reason. I have a former coworker who invests in Texas rentals that I'm going to contact, but I figured I'd ask the Horde for any wisdom they had in the field.

I'm also leaning towards investing in commercial property over residential.

Posted by: The Deplorable Mr. Trumpkin at October 12, 2017 12:31 PM (wwd4n)

Not sure of the term, REIT?
I meant a syndicate of individuals, put together by a promoter, an honest one. Get a hundred individuals to each invest ten thousand, you have a million dollars. Buy an older, slightly run-down apartment block or strip mall, spiff it up a bit to attract a better class of tenant, and go to town.

Cash flow is relatively small, but if the property is well-chosen, its value appreciates over time, and the big payoff comes when you sell out.

The mother's maiden name is generally used as part of the legal

Irish use middle names a lot -- especially when all the girls are named Mary. I live in a very Hispanic area and 'last names' in the rigid Anglo system is a joke, and used by some of the more questionable 'immigrants' to game the system.

That's very sad and so very difficult for her friends such as yourself and her family. Too soon! However, I told people at the memorial service-which really was a service of thanksgiving for her life-and hope in the resurrection-that sometimes there are graveside services were the funeral director and I are the only person there-either because they are elderly and all of their friends and family have died off-or sometimes because the person was such a miserable human being that nobody wanted to attend-even the family. It sounds like your friend had joy and life and she will be missed.

And every Democrat pol who hobnobs with Hollywood sleazeballs and/or accepts Hollywood bucks or favors should get the same kind of grilling. "If you did accept money, do you regret it? Do you plan to give it back? You went to a party with these people. Would you do that again? 396 Owning out of market real estate is a tough way to make money, unless its in a reliably good market. I still own a house in Florida, having moved north a couple of years ago, and it is a pain to care for. I'm also not a fan of REIT's unless interest rates are declining, only because the stocks often trade like a bond (when interest rates go up, share prices decline). But owning a syndicate interest in a commercial property might be good, if the syndicate is well-managed. My wife owns some farm land in a syndicate, no improvements, and that's been a great investment (because the general partner is local to the land and a knowledgeable real estate guy).

399 geoffb those are some solid ideas. Of course the obvious, and only, intelligent way to go is a vibrant wide-open market, with an actual "safety net" underneath(like every other sector in the economy that taken together make this a prosperous society). Medicare will remain a damaging burden on everyone, but its damage could be tolerated amidst the efficiency of an actual insurance market. Of course, an actual medical market would be completely revolutionary, and produce undreamt-of benefits - and this is where Medicare is a disaster.

425 17 yr old Kate Beckinsale, summoned to Uncle Harvey's room at the Savoy, brought up by Harv's butt boys and girls.

433 Okay, so here's a question. If an employee doesn't have social media accounts except for LinkedIn, is that going to significantly impact employment prospects? I'm doing a masters program next year and after that I will be job hunting in accounting. The thing that disgusts me is employers sometimes seem taken aback by employees who don't use social media (I'm 26 so I guess it's weird).

After I got out of college, my friends and I just kept in touch via email, phone, and Skype. I never used Facebook anymore so I deactivated it. I'm not interested in my employer prying through my social life, anyway.
