Obama Doubles Down on His Big Lie

The most breathless claim in his speech, I thought, was the lie that only those making $250,000 per year or more are being "asked to pay a little more."

This is a lie. Anyone making over $48,000 or so will get the doubled or tripled premiums (and often doubled deductibles to boot!) and no subsidies.

Jonah Goldberg wrote earlier of Obama's Big Lie.

I would say I'm shocked, but that would be a lie. I think I am too emotionally deadened to Obama's constant lies to even have a reaction. I'm just numb.

One thing I wasn't shocked about but am a little perplexed about: Obama claims that it's Republicans' fault all these bad things are happening because they won't "pitch in" and help him or something.

What actual legislative action is he proposing? I have not heard him request a specific change in Obamacare.

He wouldn't be thinking about a large tax increase on the general public to help defray some costs of Obamacare by any chance, would he?

That's the only thing I can imagine -- and yet that would of course be a New Lie, because he sold this thing as "only" costing a trillion or so in new (admitted) taxes.

When it comes to writing law, implementing policy, running investigations and just actual governing in general, he wants Republicans to get in the back seat and STFU. When the shit hits the fan and the fingers start pointing, he wants the Republicans by his side to distribute the weight 50:50.

A TRILLION dollars in taxes PLUS massive premium increases for EVERYONE, PLUS massive deductible increases for EVERYONE.

So what? Now they're taking an interest in 'reporting' on it? Fourteen Months later....??

146 We've got to come up with a term bigger than "Big Lie."

Stalin used the Big Lie. Hitler used the Big Lie. But even those lis were smaller than Obama's lies because back then, no one really believed most of the lies -- they were just compelled to pretend they believed them, out of fear.

But in Obama's America, also known as Kool-Aid America, tens of millions of people really and truly did believe Obama's lies.

Stalin can almost be forgiven; in his situation, it was like, "I've got to say this outrageous lie, and you the Soviet people have to pretend to believe, but of course we all know that it's a Big Lie, so let's just get it over with." The Big Lie was embedded in a mutual acknowledgement of he fundamental mendacity of the whole situation.

But Obama really and truly tricked a lot of (stupid and guilty) people. Thus, he is more responsible. And his lies are bigger than mere "Big."

Furthermore, Russia was already in bad shape before the Soviets even took over, so their Big Lies were ruining anything fabulous in the first place.

But Obama's lies are destroyed the greatest political experiment in the history of the world. And he's doing it on purpose.

So what term must we escalate to:

Massive Mendacity?

Galactic Falsehood?

Negation of Truth?

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. The patriots of the Revolution were always a minority. So, in fact, were the loyalist Tories. Even then there was a great 'moderate' middle which went in whatever direction the wind was blowing at any given time. Nowadays, given the choice between Free Shit and Freedom, I think most of that middle would choose Free Shit even though the more intelligent among them would (or should) know that nothing is free.

I would like to second that, having noticed it myself, esp. as I have been doing some in-depth reading of the era the past few months.

Naturally, the use of brute force is not there as the Nazis did, and the language is more toned down, but its the same spirit. It is pure demagogic populism, at its core, designed to eliminate the influence of certain disfavored groups. (The Nazis, of course, were from the get-go about "eliminate", not just "eliminate influence".)

If Hitler is a 10, Obama is a 1 or 2 or 3, but it is on the same scale.

1) anyone can opt out and buy insurance outside of the exchange, and
2) they can do this pre-tax, such as in an HSA.

That's what's always happened before. Only during the BP Gulf disaster did it take so long that Obama started looking a little foolish loafing on the sidelines, but the magic finally worked in the end. @241It wasn't just France of course, every occupied country had a few who resisted,a few who collaborated and the majority who just wanted to live.Even the American Revolution was like that.

Yes, but the French made the biggest fuss about it.

Michelle is going with the big lie, too. When appearing on Sesame Street
she said: “Imagine what it will be like to have our kids begging us to
buy them

fruits and vegetables instead of cookies, candy and chips.""

Keep on imagining Michelle. We are wired to eat things that taste good, and little kids have a full compliment of functioning taste buds -ever wonder why you hated some vegetable as a kid, but now don't mind it or actually like it? The peas didn't change their taste, your tongue changed in it's ability to sense things.

Of course, you could always BAN cookies, candy and chips, and calorically restrict kids to near starvation at school so they'll be begging you for anything you offer...........

250 Regarding the additional taxes on companies or products.

Correct me if I am wrong but Obamacare taxes on products encroach into sales taxes normally the purview of states.

252 Yeah, there's always the Magic Choice, where everything works out great, nobody gets inconvenienced, and nobody gets hurt. Damn! Why didn't they choose that one? We'd be terrorism free!

I always give kids a little booklet on the joys of anal sex, and that's when the nice man puts his pee-pee into the backdoor of Little Johnny and he cry's for joy.

255 Obama says this because it is small businesses that are at the $250,000 level. And he hates small business people, the people who have to buy insurance in the private market. These are the people our President hates.

256 The burger and fries costs double the price. This is only part 1 of the problem. Don't forget that its also made of shit. Costs double/made of shit. They don't like the price and they will hate the product. Double whammy. Bon appetite.
