Open Eyes, Full Heart, Can't Stop Lying: Wendy Davis, Abortion Warrior, Claims She Has No Idea What Happened in Gosnell Case

And then -- I'm not kidding -- she says she does know Gosnell's clinic was an "ambulatory surgical center."

"I don't know the primary, secondary, or tertiary facts of the case you speak of, but I do know this quaternary fact about the legal classification of the sort of facility he operated."

That's her story.

THE WEEKLY STANDARD: The supporters of these bans, they argue that there really isn't much of a difference between what happened in that Philadelphia case with abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell [killing born-alive infants] 23 weeks into pregnancy and legal late-term abortions at 23 weeks. What is the difference between those two, between legal abortion at 23 weeks and what Gosnell did? Do you see a distinction between those two [acts]?

SEN. WENDY DAVIS: I don't know what happened in the Gosnell case. But I do know that it happened in an ambulatory surgical center.

I don't know anything of this "Hitler" character you're talking about but I do know his favorite light opera was The Merry Widow. And that's all I know.

This tactic -- strategic ignorance -- is a favorite one of politicians. And of the media, actually, on the rare opportunity they are asked a question. In order to avoid answering a question, they claim, preposterously, brazenly dishonestly, to be not quite sure about what it is you're talking about, and you can hardly ask them to render an opinion on things they know nothing about, right?

It's a direct lie and it should be called such-- right to their faces. But John McCormack here wasn't quite expecting to have Wendy Davis lie so brazenly right to his face, so he was caught a bit on the back-foot.

Pressed a bit, Wendy Davis does say she agrees with Nancy Pelosi, aka "Honorary Texan," that there should be absolutely no limits of abortion up to and including the baby's passage through the birth canal.

This is "sacred ground," she reckons.

She will be the single greatest reason (besides TX hating Dems) that the Dems won't even come close to the governorship next year.

The TX Dems, just as they have nationwide, have been winnowed down to the radical leftists.

So, they saw the made-up polls after 2012 and figured all they needed to win in TX was to put a Hispanic name on the ballot.

Meaning they told Castro out of San Antonio he was going to run for Gov.

Now, Windy comes along.

And she fed the national left their favorite food--a burnt offering of dead babies to Moloch.

Now they've pumped over a million bucks into her campaign. A million bucks that she won't be spending on reelection. Because her district is even more conservative with the new district lines--and she knows that.

Heh, heh, heh.

Castro trying to woo the Hispanic Catholics while Windy feeds the national left their sacrament.

98 Twenty five years ago yesterday my nephew was born in spite of the fact that his mother was only five months pregnant. He wore a surgical mask for a diaper, and he fit in your hand, but he was a baby and he lived! He is a 6 foot tall graduate student today. 99 Speaking of hypocrites:

Actor Matt Damon is a strong supporter of America's public schools. Just two years ago, the star spoke passionately about the importance of public schools at a Washington DC "Save our Schools" rally. In fact, the actor is so impressed with public school teachers that he has demanded they receive a pay raise. That passion and conviction, however, does not apply to Damon's own children, who will not be enrolled into the Los Angeles public school system.
--

--
In an interview with the Guardian published Saturday, Damon revealed that he had just moved to Los Angeles from New York, but that he didn't "have a choice" when it came to putting his four daughters into private schools. The multi-millionaire did say that it was "a major moral dilemma" and then made the bizarre excuse that the public schools aren't "progressive" enough.
This would probably mark the first time anyone has ever complained that America's public schools, especially in Los Angeles, aren't left-wing enough.

Think hard about that word choice 'sacred' and all that implies. Why of all words did they choose this word? Sacred to whom? To what?

Anyway, if the GOP Establishment continues to downplay and sideline this issue and--in the words of Mitch Daniels--'call a truce on social issues', then we're lost, both as a party and as a people. Either the Republican Party stands for something that matters or it doesn't matter anymore.

Or could be she's a totally clueless mousy-brunette-turned-blonde-bimbette who just stepped on her dick even though she doesn't have one.

Posted by: rumcrook at August 06, 2013 12:49 AM (LSJi1)

174 Absolutely: she's carefully avoiding the hard part of the Gosnell question for her: not the filthy conditions, the callousness (including racism), the deceit and so on, including Gosnell's conviction for the manslaughter of a mother, but his murder-one convictions for the intentional killing of two children he had just (unintentionally) delivered alive a few seconds earlier. It's easy to see why she's shying away.
Because, to recap myself a bit, there are basically only three positions she could take. One, she could affirm that killing the newly-born children was wrong - and not just wrong, but first-degree-murder-conviction wrong - but that directly, intentionally killing them just a few seconds earlier, while they were still inside their mother's wombs, would have been permissible - and not just permissible, but deserving of full legal protection. Not an easy position to make plausible.
Two, she could accept that severing the kids' spines in the womb would also have been wrong - but then she would be accepting not only that her support for late-term abortion is wrong, but that it is support for the murder of children.
Three, she could say that cutting the child's spine in the womb, and cutting it on the operating table a few seconds later, would both be morally OK. This too would open a can of worms for Sen. Davis. In the first place she would be affirming her support for the infanticide of already-delivered premature babies - for any reason, at the desire of the mother - at any stage of their prematurity. Secondly, she would also be supporting the infanticide of already-delivered babies at full term - surely several weeks or months into their full-term life, at least - unless she discovered another, about equally implausible, just-before-40-weeks'-development/just-after-40-weeks'-development bright line to replace the above-the-mother's-vagina/below-the-mother's-vagina bright line to determine when it is morally wrong to kill the unborn child. (Or should that be 38 weeks' development, or 42? Oops...)
And it's important to emphasise that these problems are not irrelevant gotcha questions for supporters of late-term abortion. First, even in this day and age I don't believe it's exactly unheard of for serious health or developmental issues with a baby to become evident only at birth, be it premature or full-term birth. Why can't the parents be permitted to exercise their choice to have their baby ripped apart or stabbed in the heart with a syringe of poison at that point? In fact, come to think of it, early prematurity at the 25 or 26-week mark is itself a pretty reliable cause of significant developmental problems even in the babies who survive to nine months. Of course the response will be that don't be silly no-one is calling for that. Leaving aside the fact that some people are indeed calling for that, and many others are waiting quietly for the right moment culturally to start calling for it, the question is why? Why is there an urgent need to uphold the mother's right not to be burdened with a developmentally-disabled baby when the baby is on one side of the magical vaginal threshold, but not when it is on the other a few seconds later?
But even that's relatively hypothetical compared to the two very specific questions Wendy Davis needs to answer. The first is to do with her great love, the health of women. Everyone seems to agree (I am not a doctor) that late-term abortions are dangerous to mothers - they involve the doctor groping around with Mr. Rippy, Mr. Crushy and friends in a dark space he can't see into (at least with the naked eye). The general opinion seems to be that in many or most cases it would actually be heck of a lot safer for the mother for the doctor to artificially induce an early live birth, by normal birth or C-section as appropriate, then stab the newly-delivered baby in the neck with a scissors. (Or sing him or her lullabies while quietly giving them a morphine overdose, or even - the very thought! - give them every assistance to survive as a premature baby then give them up for adoption if they make it.) In other words, the whole business of trying to whack the 24- or 26-week fetus inside the womb rather than just outside it is, in many cases at least, a grisly political farce, a fan-dance to work around a meaningless legal distinction - and one that regularly and predictably costs the lives and health of women. (Real, pregnant women, that is, not those rinky-dink fetus-women.) Oh Senator Davis, why do you endanger the lives and health of women in order to uphold the meaningless politicial fiction of the Magical Vaginal Singularity? It doesn't even matter if there are other medical experts who will testify to the superior safety for the mother of late-term abortions over early-delivery-and-infanticide. That is a medical decision, and such decisions should be left to the best judgement of the mother's doctor and the mother herself, not usurped by politicians. Right?
