The 14 Republicans Who Voted for Amnesty

By the way, you know that "Commission of Border State Governors" that will have a large role in deciding whether or not the border is sealed?

One of those "border states" will be Nevada, where Reid (D) and Heller (R) are both pro-amnesty.

See, they've decided that Nevada is a border state despite, you know, not having a border with anything except other US states.

“This amendment ensures the commission created in the underlying bill is fully representative of issues affecting southern border and southwestern states," Heller said. "Although Nevada does not touch the southern border, its current demographics and state issues are reflective of other southern border states and Nevada should have a voice on this commission.”

By that logic, New York should be a "border state" too -- and it probably will be.

I strongly suspect "border states" will be getting bought off to okay further amnesties. So of course Reid and Heller want a share of these additional billions in bribery.

Apart from rigging the game dishonestly before it's even begun-- you can totally trust these guys. Honestly.

Wichita is the largest city with over 380,000 people, but we have no major sports teams. Yes that means you Chiefs and Royals. But hey, the Thunder is only 155 miles away. But the best thing about Kansas is the fact that both of our elected Senators voted no on this piece of shit bill. And, we have Kris Kobach as Secretary of State which ain't a bad thing. 'Border Security' shouldn't just include the land-borders.

I think the Founders were actually viewing our coastlines as 'borders' back in their day...with regard to securing them.
But these days, no one seems to even talk about coastline security.

Which is why Amnesty is such a bad idea.
With the threat of being deported...destroyed...there will be no deterrent left at all.

May as well just disband the Coast Guard and save money.

Primary them if we can, if not, we need to teach them a lesson worse than we need to avoid a Democrat. If we play it right, the replacement will not know how much we tipped the scales, and will do everything they can not to offend us.

When my group was beating our ex Congressman's ass, we decided to attend a league of Women Voter's meeting that just happened to feature all of our local state senators and representatives.

The League of Women's voters had come out strongly in favor of gun control, and expected our Reps and Senators to agree with them. After they had seen what we had been doing to our asshole congressman, every single one of them came out strongly in favor of strengthening gun rights, and supporting concealed carry legislation.

One of our State Senators even asked me for some statistics of how such laws worked in other states prior to taking the podium for his speech. The League of Women's voter's leadership was shocked silly at how strongly their position had been rebuked by the Reps and Senators.

107 We stopped gun control, we stopped the farm bill. Keep up the pressure on the House.

Sen Sessions predicts this bill will lose more support everyday as more people learn what's in it. By the time the House gets it, it should be enough time for the polls to shift in our favor.

We must encourage the House 70, led by Bachmann, Gohmert, and Steve King, to stay strong against Boehner. We must encourage dissent and the ousting of the Speaker if he pushes this.

Yeah, I should have noted that about the idea of using "legalized" workers for which the business wouldn't have to pay health care. Heard it on Rush's show last week.

Problem with NV is that it's becoming too much like CA, partly due to liberals coming from CA to NV to "escape" CA, but also because while CA politics are ruled by liberal money from Hollywood and Silicon Valley, NV politics are heavily influenced by Vegas money, and while some of those casino moguls are ostensibly Conservative, their conservatism goes out the window when it comes to profits.

So add the interests of the casino guys to the Dems in NV who want to wipe out conservatives, and you get what we saw today.

Posted by: Jones in C

yes, without a single Republican vote, the Democrats had thin majority. But they need 60 votes minimum to avoid "cloture", which would kill the bill. DOA.

This was one of the big sticking points of the alleged "passing" of ObamaCare. Apparently, the slim majority of 51 was only a vote on the "reconciliation" between the House and the Senate Bill, although in reality reconciliation had never taken place. Nancy deemed that this had "passed" the House. Liars, the whole rotten pack of them.

The House only needs a simple majority.

That the Amnesty Bill that Reagan signed, in 1986...was introduced in the Senate by Alan Simpson [R-Wyoming]?

Simpson introduced it in May of 1985.
It was passed in the Senate in September of 1985...and it tookover a year for it to be voted on in the House.

At least that Bill had some restrictions...
The illegals had to be able to prove that they'd been here since 1982.
And there was an 'expiration date' for signing up for the Amnesty.

We don't know what is in this shit-sandwich yet.
So we don't even know if it will have a similarexpiration date...or if it will be open ended, allowing for Amnesty forever.

Calder vs Bull... 1798
'words and the intent' of the Ex Post Facto Clause encompass '[e]very law that changes the punishment, and inflicts a greater punishment, than the law annexed to the crime, when committed.'

But that was for making a law have more consequence... I don't know of any case where they have argued making something illegal, legal.

Supremes just recently held that even Sentencing guidelines must be the ones from when the crime was committed... so how the Supremes would see it? No clue.

My grandfather didn't talk a lot but I paid attention when he did. The first political thing he ever said to me was "Our family votes Republican because Mr Lincoln saved the Union." The next thing I remember about him and politics is he said "Politics is a dirty, dirty business and our family does not participate other than to vote." The most pithy thing I remember is that he said "We need to turn them all out every 4-8 years because by then they have their hand in the till."

I was just a little kid and I am sure he thought I would never remember. But I did.

Totally agree, Romeo13.
That's why I've been practically shouting about how Discriminatory! this whole thing is.

It singles out a particular Group and gives them a pass for breaking our laws.

The Senators who are voting for this...are essentially abdicating the US Govt's Constitutional mandate to secure our borders!
They are altering the Constitution.

Prohibition was simply the first example I could think of, off the top of my head...where 'something illegal was made legal'.
And not an example that is anywhere near the magnitude of this Amnesty Bill.

379 I think Boehner will let this die, just wait until the fall when we're arguing budgets and debt ceilings--it's basically from now until August that's the danger zone.

Rubio's pretty dead to me at this point. I can excuse a couple of those blue-state Republican ayes, for bipartisan cred (NH, ME, NV). Flake and McCain and Graham were already terrible and we knew it. Disappointed by Ayotte.

382 So, to summarize, whether Ace let's us post or not, we launch The Great Dead Fish Rebellion tomorrow.

Mail sardines/kippers/anchovies to Rubio and Boehner at their DC offices.

Hit twitter and facebook and blanket all the jackasses with photos of dead fish.

Keep the messaging about the smell or stink of the bill so they don't get thrown off and think about receiving dead fish as being a threat.

Something like "The mnety bbill stinks like a dead fish" or "This immigration bill smells fishy"

Keep it pithy.

Any corrections or additional suggestions?

415 (409) If Boehner lets it get to a vote. I somehow doubt it.

Maybe I'm crazy, but while Boehner doesn't strike me as the most...principled dude, he does strike me as a guy who wants to keep his job. Based on the NJ article from earlier today, and just gut feeling, it seems to me we'd ideally like to slow-roll anything important until Obamacare hits which thanks to last November is unavoidable. Delay a House thingy until we get debt/budget fights late 2013-early 2014, then move into mid-terms a la the Dems in 2006, with nothing for the other guys to use to get out the vote except "we tried immigration reform" and "you're mistaken about these higher premiums"...TFG's political capital seems (and hopefully will continue) to be on a downward trend. Chuck Schumer is kidding himself if he thinks he's going to get an army of immigrants to sweep him into power in an off-cycle election.

Perhaps it's wishful thinking, but I don't think Majority Boehner has any interest in being Minority Leader Boehner.

427 "I do not forgive or forget very easily. If only we had 1 million people at the steps of Capitol Hill right now. "

The government has done a good job of physically isolating itself from the people and surrounding itself with rent seekers. Even so, we did have a million people there to oppose Obamacare, and they were ignored and mocked.

I don't think it has really sunk in just how fucked we are. The idea that "We The People" rule is no longer true. The Federal government is now an entity that exists for itself. It rules us. It oppresses us. It confiscates our wealth. It acts in opposition to our wishes. It tells us what we can do and what we cannot do and what we MUST do. It monitors our every word and every move. It will soon control every aspect of our lives.

AMERICA IS NO LONGER A FREE COUNTRY.
AMERICANS ARE NO LONGER A FREE PEOPLE.

The America that we knew passed on election night, November 2008. It wasn't until four years later that some of us realized what had occurred. Some still don't believe it. But we have to deal with reality and make our plans accordingly.

The enemies of Freedom have won. We've lost our country, and it isn't coming back.

428 I have a bunch of emails from Flake - I don't know how I got on his list - sounding the alarm about liberals undermining America and begging for money so that true conservatives like him could turn back the tide. They made amusing, if infuriating reading, before I deleted them.

There's no possible way all these people were sincere patriots up till they got elected, then somebody changed their minds. Sure there was bribery from wealthy people who want cheap labor, but the bribe-takers had to have been crooks all the way along.

For forty years and more, the mass media has been pushing memes that make it OK for powerful white people to betray the white working class. Politicians have internalized that message and they are acting accordingly.

445 Obama is not a stuttering clusterfuck of a malignant traitor, but rather an intelligent, long-game type malignant traitor.

He has, in the past five years, through his campaign, by the astroturf Occupiers, and through his ceaseless crypto-Marxist rhetoric, rendered class warfare respectable among large swaths of Americans --marking a sharp shift from values held among nearly all Americans since the turn of the last century.

He is on the brink of "electing a new people" --consisting of the very young, the Free Shitters, the gay and anyone who does not ethnically identify as "white" (which will now be expanded by 30 million in a generation).

He (through the bully pulpit, and working largely through surrogates in State houses and through urban mayors) succeeded in significantly disarming the Bitter Clingers, who are in the end the only real backstop of a Constitutional Republic.

He has, by a combination of entitlement and crony capitalism unseen in modern American history, confused the boundaries between private enterprise and government to the point where a whole generation is growing up to think that government is like the universal medium which must by necessity permeate every human activity.

He has, by riling racial divisions to a degree not seen in forty years ("police acting stupidly"..."If I had a son..." giving "shout outs" and otherwise lowering the Presidency to ghetto culture) created an almost unified black voting block that will, for the foreseeable future, buy almost anything that the blacker, or more ethnic candidate is selling.

Through Obamacare, he is about to create a degree of leverage by the federal government over the life of the individual American never before seen in our history, and to a degree even rarely seen in the old Soviet "satellite" states. FIle a "false statement" with a US government agent (response to your doctor asking for a detailed description of the number and type of firearms in your home) --no bypass for you!

He has ceaselessly devalued America's contributions to the world, and her proper place as a leader among nations, and emboldened nearly every enemy of America, both military and ideological.

The dissolving political bands thing almost seems to follow naturally....

450 We moved to Las Vegas in '93. The population has grown a lot in that time, and the Hispanic population more than doubled, 10% to 25% last I read, so while we aren't a border State, we sure as hell are a magnet!

We've lived in the same neighborhood since '97, which went from {mostly white} young families with small children, to apartment complexes to our East and West taking section 8 so the neighborhood became mostly black families with teenagers, to now, where it's back to young families {mostly Hispanic} with small children, and those to the East and West mostly stay in their own areas. Mostly. We do have the layabouts with their brown paper bagged drinks hanging out at the end of the street, but they get rousted fairly often.

It's safer, more community oriented, and one of these days I AM going to buy tamales from the guy with the horn who sells out of a box!!!

451 LePage has been on a roll this week. I'd love to see him run against Collins! He's got a national profile.

452 Ace had a post about it the other day, but Mitch McConnell hated McCain before it was cool to do so. He challenged McCain-Feingold in the Supreme Court. He could have pistol-whipped the Gang of Eight, but nobody made Rubio suck Schumer's cock. He did that all on his own.

453 I so agree, NYC Parent, he's playing the long game. Heck, Michelle even said so once, by accident, in a speech.

They have created a shadow government, a very powerful one, that will be tough to beat.

As Winston Smith said, stay human.

Um, New York is a border state. Or do only illegalMexicans qualify for amnesty? I'm having a lot of trouble keeping up with your screwy laws since I stopped caring last November.
PS speaking of which, have fun with your single payer health care monolith when it comes. Trust me, what you "save" in direct out-of-pocket expenses (which you will more that pay for in higher income taxes)you will also pay double for in wait times and decreased quality. I hope your chronically unemployable underclass is worth it. The upside being, I guess, that your Donk presidents won't have the money to drop bombs on North Africa on a whim, or the Balkans to distract from Oval Office trouser malfunctions.

456 The targets should be Graham in '14 and Rubio in '16. Both very doable.

Ixnay on the fish thing -- it's a great impulse, but terrible tactics. Will be spun against you in the worst way possible.

Would be amazed if Ace doesn't say exactly the same thing I just did.

Come up with something similarly pithy and politically combative without the Godfather overtones.

457 Well, maybe their {R's} thinking is they would rather have SOME control over the outcome? Remember, Congress shoots it down, then O does his Executive Order reach around to get his wish anyway!

458 “This has the potential of becoming the next major civil rights movement. I could envision in the late summer or early fall if Boehner tries to bottle the bill up or put something in without a path to citizenship — if there’s no path to citizenship, there’s not a bill — but if he tries to bottle it up or do things like that, I could see a million people on the Mall in Washington,” Schumer said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

In case it wasn't clear that "civil rights" often means anti-whites.

460 When the existing border patrol agents have their hands tied, doubling their numbers only means that the Democrats get to stuff the patrol with every black and female that they can (jobs program), and there will be a ton of card playing going on.

461 In fairness, NYC IS a border state, to Puerto Rico. And 50% of the inhabitants there are red hot smoking beauties! The other 50%, I don't particularly care for.
