Ezra Klein and Josh Marshall, Who Got a VIP Briefing at the White House Yesterday, Are Curiously on the Same Page Today

Marshall and Klein have portrayed all the scandals as faux scandals. Ezra Klein notoriously predicted -- wishcast, actually -- last week that the wheels were coming off the scandal wagon and that everyone would see how silly all of this is.

But today, they sing a different tune:

Both of those tweets argue that Lerner should be fired.

I imagine they're arguing for this because Obama has already decided to fire her.

Thus, they put out a Possible Solution Which Will Completely Solve This Whole Scandal-Business, Obama implements this Solution, and then there's no more scandal!

What I glean from this is that the previous White House position -- nothing more needs be done, this is all a "partisan fishing expedition" -- is now inoperative, and a new defense -- fire Lois Lerner and then claim that nothing more needs be done, this is all now just a partisan fishing expedition, again -- is now in effect.

173 What I glean from this is that the previous White House position -- nothing more needs be done, this is all a "partisan fishing expedition" -- is now inoperative, and a new defense -- fire Lois Lerner and then claim that nothing more needs be done, this is all now just a partisan fishing expedition, again -- is now in effect.

------------------------------

They're doing their best to help the media declare this investigation all wrapped up. The first weak effort was with firing Miller, who was already resigning. Now, they figure if they offer up Lerner, that won't satisfy the people, but fuck them anyway. They just need to give the MSM a fig leaf to move on from this story.

However, they may not get enough grace. Not with the AP and James Rosen persecutions. More and more reporters are seeming pretty pissed off at the admin and Jay Carney's shitty treatment of them in press briefings.

None of this is to say that the truth will out, mind you. After all, the Obots and the MSM still both agree that WE are the true enemy. I suspect they'll kiss and make up before too long. But I'm really hoping I'm wrong and this piece of shit gets the treatment he deserves.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/05/22/Report-Rogue-IRS-Agent-Claim-Unraveling

Mitchel Steele-IRS Agent
Carly Young-IRS Agent
Joseph Herr-IRS Agent
Stephen Seok-IRS Supervisor
Liz Hofacre-IRS Agent
Ms. Richards (full name unknown)-IRS Agent

These agents report to different managers, with a territory manager overseeing those managers.

When an application for tax exempt status comes into the IRS, agents have 270 days to work through that application. If the application is not processed within those 270 days it automatically triggers flags in the system. When that happens, individual agents are required to input a status update on that individual case once a month, every month until the case is resolved.

Keep in mind, at least 300 groups were targeted out of Cincinnati alone. Those applications spent anywhere from 18 months to nearly 3 years in the system and some still don't have their non-profit status. 300 groups multiplied by at least 18 months for each group, means thousands of red flags would have been generated in the system.
So who in the chain of command would have received all these flags? The answer, according to the IRS directory, one woman in Cincinnati, Cindy Thomas, the Program Manager of the Tax Exempt Division. Because all six of our IRS workers have different individual and territory managers, Cindy Thomas is one manager they all have common.

It turns out Cindy Thomas' name is one we have heard before. The independent journalism group ProPublica says in November of 2012 they had requested information on conservatives groups that had received non-profit status.

They had a different cold open sketch that season where the Queen was reading off the divorce settlement, complete with what the limits were on personal behavior which was also fairly good.

IIRC, the big point of contention was the family's time-share and that appearing topless would lose Diana one week, doing a girl-girl photo shoot would lose her two weeks, and doing a girl-girl photo shoot with Fergie would lose her all privileges.

469 How much do you like your current neighbors?Do you
really want to inflict them with these people? It sounds like they will
be those pain in butt neighbors who call the cops or HOA for every
little thing.

This is Connecticut....no one talks to their neighbors. I think it's in the state's constitution or something.

Can't wait to move out of this place.

470 To return to the original post:

It seems that we might have the beginning of a compromise that everybody can get on board with. Obama is willing to throw the IRS weenies under the bus. We can agree to that but we just differ on what it means to be thrown under the bus when Obama is done with you.

Let's have an independent special counsel - my top three nominees would be Andrew McCarthy, J.Christian Adams or, what the hell, Ann Coulter has a law license.

We can agree to restrictions that the Obama team requires - like no prosecutions of any body higher up the food chain than Lois Lerner.

Then send the loyal Obama flunkies to federal pound me in the ass prison for years. Send as many of the loyal myrmidons off for as long as possible and let them wail about how their higher ups, who are immune from prosecution under this agreement, ordered them to do it. Let their wailing be under oath and in public records.

472 Some has to go to jail. I would prefer it if Sarah Hall Ingram got prison and at least one manager from each of the twelve offices that participated to also do jail time. And never work in government service again.
