IRS Officials Knew Conservative Groups Were Targeted

Well, isn't this interesting.

Among the other revelations, on Aug. 4, 2011, staffers in the IRS’ Rulings and Agreements office “held a meeting with chief counsel so that everyone would have the latest information on the issue.”

On Jan, 25, 2012, the criteria for flagging suspect groups was changed to, “political action type organizations involved in limiting/expanding Government, educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights, social economic reform/movement,” the report says.

Hey, maybe the IRS is just defining "low-level" differently than you or I would:

The present narrative on Benghazi which I caught a few seconds of while channel surfing by MSNBC, was that there were problems with how much the CIA and State Dept. knew, but that the Republicans have politicized this now and made it much worse, because , you know....

So now I wonder how this IRS problem can be the Republican's fault, because the sequester has retroactively made the Obama Regime stupid in 2012.

I think that the most appalling part isn't that the Obama Regime had let it be known with the government that the IRS was to do this (although that is plenty appalling and criminal), it's that the Mainstream Bullshit Media really doesn't care, because they so eagerly carry Barry's water, and so eagerly lie for him.

60 I just tweeted comment 46. Brilliant!

Posted by: WannabeAnglican at May 11, 2013 08:52 PM (F1wnk)

61 Moving forward on this, the questions asked by the IRS were very comprehensive and delving, much like a fishing expedition or a witch-hunt.

This is important, because since the standard Democratic playbook tactic for foiling an inquiry is to try and make any investigation seem so overly detailed and penetrating that it can only have a partisan nature as a fishing expedition and/or witch-hunt, I think in this case they are going to using that trope, and will have trouble keeping investigators from asking very probing questions. For starters, the investigators can have the IRS folks fill out the same questions they demanded others answer. And go from there.

I think the Age of Government of, by, and for Huffington Post Readers is over.

Posted by: T. at May 11, 2013 08:52 PM (VjdcT)

62 I used to argue against tribalist cheering of expanded powers with "But what if the other guys gain power". Now it has finally hit me. The left wants these abuses so that the other side NEVER CAN get power and they (mistakenly) believe that they'll never be on the receiving end of the abuse.

63 If obama can get away with murder (fast and furious), covering up terrorism (benghazi), and buying votes with 4.4 billion taxpayer dollars (pigford), why is anyone excited about misuse of the irs?

He is a criminal, surrounded by criminals, and protected by a seditious press. Obama will NEVER be Nixoned. In America, he would have been prosecuted, but we haven't been living in America for awhile now.

I really don't know how much Boehner and the House leadership can do, even if they were brilliant or just really smart and shrewd (which they aren't).

The Obama Regime has gamed a lot of the political moves of the last five years out, and their constant trump card to any play has always been the ability of the Bullshit Media to cover them up if something went askew. Obama and his cronies can ALWAYS count on the Media lying for them and creating doubt in the minds of the public. Likewise, they can always create a great deal of doubt with whatever the Republicans say or do, no matter if they are 100% right on a matter or not.

92 Looks like they have some more 'splainin' to do, Lucy. Monday should be another festival at the podium of truth, also known as the "White House Press Briefing."

I had to laugh when the reporter asked ole Jay about the IRS/Tea Party issue yesterday and "he could not answer as he had not yet spoken to the preznit."

You know, I would think even if I were saying those words, repeatedly, that I would start feeling le stoopid. To sum: for most press conferences, no matter what the breaking news is---and there could be a N.Korea nuke on the way, Jay never has an answer as he has never spoken to the preznit and they have no idea how they are going to spin it.

I mean, can you imagine Tony Snow or Ari Fleischer or Dana Perino doing this, repeatedly, for the entire time they were Press Secretaries? I did not think it was possible but I think Jay makes Robert Gibbs look sort of Mensa quality. Jay just looks down at his notes, which are little squiggles and smiley faces on Starbucks napkins or his boogers in a pattern, blinks, and gazes myopically through his glasses and replies he does not know. 94 Thinking upon it further, Benghazi and this thing are related, in this "Mirror Universe"/"Bizarro world" sense---the Dems in government can give you a detailed rectal probe examination any freaking time they wishe to, but if your representatives so much as whisper that they would like to know everything that happened with things like Benghazi and Fast and Furious, the sycophants of the left and the current Executive Branch will do their best to disgrace those men in public and make them seem unreasonable.

Big lesson the Left wants us to get: the government, and esp. the Executive Branch, when ran by Democrats, will do as it damn well pleases.

Or, you can always say you never read those particular e-mails, your basic 'Eric'.

166 The immigration reform measure the Senate began debating yesterday would create a national biometric database of virtually every adult in the U.S., in what privacy groups fear could be the first step to a ubiquitous national identification system.

Buried in the more than 800 pages of the bipartisan legislation is language mandating the creation of the innocuously-named “photo tool,” a massive federal database administered by the Department of Homeland Security and containing names, ages, Social Security numbers and photographs of everyone in the country with a driver’s license or other state-issued photo ID.

Employers would be obliged to look up every new hire in the database to verify that they match their photo.

This piece of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act is aimed at curbing employment of undocumented immigrants. But privacy advocates fear the inevitable mission creep, ending with the proof of self being required at polling places, to rent a house, buy a gun, open a bank account, acquire credit, board a plane or even attend a sporting event or log on the internet. Think of it as a government version of Foursquare, with Big Brother cataloging every check-in.

194 "Nixon had an adversarial press to keep him contained."

The OTHER thing Nixon had was both a House that was willing and able to impeach him, and a Senate which was willing and able to convict and remove him. Because the Democrats had the numbers both places to accomplish the full impeach-and-remove doomsday sequence even over GOP opposition. That's why Nixon resigned. If he'd stayed, he was toast.

The GOP has the numbers in the House to get the job done of impeaching Obama.

In the Senate? To convict and remove? Fuhgeddaboudid. Obviously.

If the GOP had not blundered so horribly in the last two Senate election cycles, it might have the numbers in the Senate. Instead, we had Todd Akin. Richard Mourdock. Sharron Angle. Christine O'Donnell. The whole utterly ridiculous parade of utterly ridiculous candidates who shouldn't have even been able to stand for sewer commissioner in East Resume Speed, much less stand for the U.S. Senate on the Republican ticket. Who all flushed away otherwise winnable Senate races. And with it, potential control of the Senate.

Now we reap the whirlwind of our own incompetence as a party and of our own crummy candidates.

The stuff that is coming out about Obama is bad, make no mistake. This stuff isn't Lewinsky blowjob bad. This stuff is Watergate bad. It's page by page Watergate identical, down to the use of IRS as a political weapon and down to the written "enemies list".

This is the kind of stuff that genuinely does merit removing a President over his objections. But we simply DO NOT HAVE THE NUMBERS IN THE SENATE to pull it off. No chance. That's the real difference between the Nixon crisis and this one.

Going to hit the Val-U-Rite early and heavy tonight. I'm thinking dual IV drip.

203 The Army general who said that aircraft couldn't be generated for Benghazi is eithera liar or ignorant. Aviano AB, Italy is the closest American fighter base I know of and they fly F-16s. I worked F-16s for about 17 years. A typical squadron generation for war takes a little under 12 hours to configure every flyable jet to the frag. That is with QA coming after you and checking every detail so they can try to fail you. One night in Korea after a five day exercise had just ended and we had reconfigured the jets back to normal flying, the operations commander came out and asked us to quietly reconfigure the jets back to wartime taskings as the Norks were trying to sneak some shit past us. We generated our whole squadron in a little over four hours and QA was helping us. Things change when you have a real world emergency and someone may be shooting at you in a few hours.

(Besides the foreign donations, there absolutely was fraud involved. My boss and his wife both had their credit cards charged for donations to Obama's campaign. Neither one would have ever done so willingly.)

261 #259 There was no way for Bush to fight it. I always held out hope that the Mossad would hack his accounts, but alas, the Israelis apparently (unlike Obama) don't interfere in foreign elections.

If the DOJ and Congress (for their own reasons) keep ignoring or refusing to prosecute crime, it will only get worse.

At some point some mofos gonna get tired of it and burn the house down. Which will be even worse, just inevitable.

I don't wish I'd died in the hospital three years ago, but I know why people say things like that.

265 Wilkins has made at least $35,000 worth of political contributions over
the years. He has donated to a number of prominent Democrats, including
five donations totaling $4,250 to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), chairman of
the Senate Finance Committee.

BCochran...add these two names to your list, please.

How long did Doherty and Woods keep firing into the barbarians before a mortar killed them? Four hours? Col Hunt said a jet could have been there in two from Italy...two and 1/2 hours. This is such bs. Something's gotta give.
Sorry about the stupid formatting of names above.

Or unlike how Slick sent his apparatchiks to campaign for Ehud Barak. I remember being incredulous that those fuckheads were meddling in another country's voting.
