Happy Thursday.

What they really think:

“Bribery isn’t what it once was,” said an official with one of the major gun-control groups. “The government has no money. Once upon a time you would throw somebody a post office or a research facility in times like this. Frankly, there’s not a lot of leverage.”

Now you tell us. A "key architect" of Obamacare says there's a "huge train wreck coming down" because the law is too complicated and poorly understood.

Following the news that Mark Sanford was creeping around his ex-wife's property and has a court date to resolve a trespassing charge, the NRCC is pulling the plug on his campaign: "At this time, the NRCC will not be engaged in this special election." Oh, and you remember this sad photo (that's one of Sanford's sons at the election night party that Sanford's mistress/fiance crashed)? Jenny Sanford says that's the first time the son had met the woman.

Officials are reporting 5 to 15 dead in the Texas fertilizer plant explosion, but they expect to find more bodies.

1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, April 18, 2013. On this day in 1775 Paul Revere and some 40 others made the famous ride to warn MA colonists that British troops were on the move. Revere got all the press though through a poem.

45 Important tip for mrons. When you go to your doctor have them review all of your records.

I went to my doctor that I see for high blood pressure (routine yearly appointment) and on my records were detailed descriptions of a heart bypass and cardiac catheritization, neither of which I have ever had. Someone else's records got placed in my swell electronic file. They are going to have to do a big deal thing to correct it.

This is not only annoying, but actually dangerous, since those records are what they first pull up when you show up at an emergency room.

So check. This info came from the hospital my doc affiliated with. Until last year that erroneous record wasn't in my file.

Well, Vic, treating the area as a crime scene ensures that no evidence is contaminated/destroyed/lost/stolen/strayed if it *does* turn out to be anything other than an accident. The DFW Fox reporter mentioned something about "an abundance of caution," which seems warranted, IMO. It isn't likely to have been terrorism, as others have noted, but until they're sure, it makes sense tosecure the evidence chain.

Crime scene because of deaths until they can rule out the cause of the original fire. Original fire was at 7:20 pm, explosion at 7:50.

You hear the explosion (after he monitors the fire for a while), then his kid starts yelling he can't hear, and to get out of there. Didn't know there was a kid in the car until then. Idiot.

One of the mistakes that the media (willfully) makes is to confuse the number of people who are in favor of something in theory with the number of people who believe it is an important issue. Many years ago, I lived in Austin. There was a ballot initiative about restricting development in a specific part of town. The way it was phrased by the people pushing the issue was that a vast majority of citizens favored clean water. Well, of course they do. Who wouldn't? The issue actually was "Do you favor severely restricting growth in a certain part of town to achieve the goal of maybe, possibly having water that might be 1% cleaner?" Naturally, most people would answer differently.
That's what the media does. In theory, people may be in favor of something. Once they find out what it involves, not so much.

n other votes, just 40 senators supported the assault-weapons ban and 46 supported limiting the size of ammunition magazines. In addition, an NRA-backed measure that clarified gun-trafficking laws fell short, with just 58 votes, stunning Democrats.

More senators, 57, voted for a provision that would greatly expand gun rights — allowing people with permits to carry concealed weapons in their states to carry them nationwide — than supported expanding background checks.

“We’ve got to bring these votes back to the American people,” said freshman Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.). “This is worse than I ever thought.”

131 Just read Mark Sanford's explanation of the trespassing. Yeah, he sounds ridiculous. First he says he had to go watch a game with his 14 year old because "as his father, I thought he shouldn't watch it alone"...oookay, professional sports events are generally considered to be something a teenager can process without Dad, right? Or by texting Dad throughout the game. Then he says he couldn't just ask his ex if he could watch the game with his son because she was out of town...and cell phones don't exist, or something? But apparently she wasn't that far out of town, because she was back in time to "meet" him on the stairs.

Really, if Jenny Sanford hasn't been helping (or making) the kids visit their dad, she's a bitch. Kids need both their parents. But that doesn't mean Sanford can just show up at his exes house whenever. If he wants to see his kids more, there's a process for it.

137 - "Now you tell us. A 'key architect' of Obamacare says there's a 'huge train wreck coming down' because the law is too complicated and poorly understood."

Don't get duped. That law was intended to fail and thereby to become the platform for their final push for single payer. What's happening here is that the Dems and their puppet masters (who don't understand business or economics) didn't realize just how quickly things would dissolve on the employment front. Even the liberal media has not be able to censor the fact that people in droves are getting fired or having their hours reduced directly because of the law. That worries the Dems.

- "Following the news that Mark Sanford was creeping around his ex-wife's property and has a court date to resolve a trespassing charge, the NRCC is pulling the plug on his campaign"

This Sanford fiasco speaks volumes about two of the worst demographics of the right-wing. In one corner you have the rabidly anti-GOP Internet/talk radio malcontents, who somehow have gotten it into their empty heads that the GOP is at fault for this. As if it's the party's fault Sanford ran for this seat and then people were dumb enough to have voted for him. Then you have the Bible thumping sheeple in the district itself, who actually cast those ballots. The whole "forgiveness" thing. Talk about literally having fallen right off the turnip truck. Those people can be duped into anything. Numbed and naive minds.

148 Y'know, last night I was sitting here praying for West, Tx, when I had a thought. It's been percolating around in my head for a while, and last night it kind of crystallized. I was marveling at the emergency response; it was reported that West, a little town of 3000, actually had too much fire and rescue equipment show up and were sending some of it back. "Please God, these are good people," I prayed, a litany of shit that's happened lately going through my mind (Gosnell, Boston, West, Newtown, Benghazi, Nov. 6, the push to kill the Constitution, inflation, debt, N. Korea, etc, etc, et fucking cetera) "Enough. Please God, enough". That's when it hit me. We rightly think of the worst regimes in history and their legacy of murder and death with revulsion and more than a touch of pride and "we're better than that, we STOPPED that". Mao-60,000,000 plus dead, Stalin 40,000,000, Hitler, 30,000,000, Pol Pot, Tojo, Pasha, Sung, Hariam, Hussein....right on down the line.

And yet....

In the last 40 years, we've killed almost 60,000,000 of our own children. Sixty million kids murdered, and almost always for our own selfish convenience and an urge to avoid taking responsibility for our actions. We say "God Bless America", but honestly....

Why should he?

Sorry, feeling very doom-y today.

Under wraps, prior to each election, another extension.

Whatever.

151 See, if a guy with a restraining order shows up at his ex-wife's house, while she's out of town, sneaking would be an apt description. But in order to call it creeping, he would have to be wearing a cape, top hat, and a Snidely Whiplash mustache and sneer, whilst rubbing his hands together profusely.

It's the law.

192 Here's the thing about Sanford that disturbs me. He thinks rulesdon't apply to him, because he's special or something.

He has enough of a track record that I think I can safely say that.

For some reason politics seems to attract people like that in greater numbers than other professions. Examples of recent memory include Ted Kennedy, Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton, etc.

These people do stuff which by all rights should have driven them from public life. Instead, they just go on like everything is perfectly normal, because it is THEY who did whatever scummy thing they did. And then they proceed to castigate others for bad behavior, like they are saints or something.

It isn't confined to American politics, either. I have noticed the same tendency in England and Europe.

There is probably a psychological explanation for this, but I am not a psychiatrist.

But the rest of Obama's party know quite well that whomever the President is at the end of January of 2017, it won't be Barack Obama any longer.

This is why I posted about this. My sister who is a nurse went nuts when I told her.

For example, heart patients are often given blood thinners. Suppose I had a heart attack and am unconscious. They could delay giving me blood thinners under the assumption I already am on them.

Or suppose you are diabetic but your records don't show it because that information got put on someone else's records? You could be in a diabetic coma and they might assume you were drunk.

What if someone has an allergy to penicillin and that got left off the record?

I am seriously concerned about this. I am writing both the hospital and the head of the doctors' group today. I also might contact my Congressman.

Based on how he was treated I'm also inclined to think he may have had some sort of "diplomatic" status.

Froze, stopped, couldn't. He blames his inability on his sister (who shared decision making responsibility with him) but he also went back and put some crappy ass "widget" (that's what we call it) in his "theory" to fit this. The guy's biggest claim to fame is saying shocking things, he's the Howard Stern of Professors. Ego obesity implements the demise of US Constitutional Governance, enforcing eugenics on the American citizenry and the world population at large. The American Middle Class is expected, by our "betters", to actually carry out the dictates of an evil tyrant.

And after all is said and done to placate the American voters outraged by ObamaCare dictatorship [or fill in the subsequent blanks], our nation's Republican Leadership ordered the public to comply to "The Law of the Land". Boner.

Long past time that our politicians, judges, law enforcement, etc. complied with their own sworn oaths to uphold the US Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land.

Pray to God that the FBI investigations are not thwarted by DHS overlord network.

"There is nothing to fear but fear itself." Don't fear supporting our Constitutional American Way of Life.

The actual Tweets:

"In honor of Boston and New England, may we suggest: whole-grain cranberry scones!" it tweeted.

Earlier the food site - which has more than 385,000 Twitter followers - had tweeted a link to a recipe for "cinnamon scented breakfast quinoa", along with the message: "Boston, our hearts are with you. Here's a bowl of breakfast energy we could all use to start today."

334 There are only two types of BBQ sauce. Right and wrong.

This is the right kind:

1 C white vinegar

1C apple cider vinegar

1 T brown sugar

1 T cayenne pepper

1 T red pepper flakes

1 T hot pepper sauce (Texas Petes works well)

1 t salt

1 t black pepper

and for an added kick...1 DROP Daves Insanity Sauce

Mix it all up, put it in a Mason jar, put it in the fridge for a couple of days, shaking it up a couple of times per day to keep everything mixed up so the flavors will blend. Put it over pulled pork, smack your granny good.

Not my granny though. Bitch was mean as shit, she'd probably turn you into a newt.

Iran’s army “alone” is able to destroy Israel, army commander General Ataollah Salehi said on Thursday, responding to boasts by the Jewish state that its military could attack its arch foe on its own.

“Our message to this illegitimate regime (Israel) is the same, we do not need to utilize all of Iran’s military forces,” Salehi said on the sidelines of the Islamic Republic’s annual Army Day. “The army ... alone is able to destroy Israel.”

This prized idiot probably has never seen a map so he has no idea how far Iran is from Israel.

392 Okay--Serious you guys....

I'm trying to add the term "weatherboarding" to the Urban Dictionary. I need five synonyms or antonyms to describe the phenomenon. This is what I have so far:

The act of bombarding citizens with bad climate science. Noun (Usually done over a period of years, accompanied by graphs (Mann's Hockey Stick), photos of dying polar bears, and melting glaciers. May also be accompanied by unverifiable claims of meteor strikes and earthquakes.

Verb: weatherboarded; to weatherboard

Example: The student had been weatherboarded by examples of climate change for most of her high school career. She was ridiculed ceaselessly after trying to provide instances that preclude the condition, such as: the Medieval Warming Period, the Little Ice Age (during the Elizabethan Era), and other examples.

Could use some help here to complete the entry.

I found the quality of the video she made with her son, All Seeing Eye, particularly low grade and the storyline a bit amateurish. However, the two of them rolling around naked on the basement floor cover in Cheeto dust was inspired. His performance of taking it in the ass from the donkey went on a bit long but the donkey did seem satisfied at the end. When his mom tried desperately to orally restimulate the donkey I felt sorry for her. Too bad the website is down again.

411 Excuse ME? "Gun groups LIE?"

How about the damned GOVERNMENT LIARS?

"

For roughly 80 years, beginning with The National Firearms Act, a series of Congresses and Presidents have told us that we need "common sense" gun laws to "stop crimes."
But
the government has repeatedly lied. In the seminal case before the US
Supreme Court over the National Firearms Act, US .vs. Miller, dealing
with a sawed-off shotgun the government argued that such a weapon had neverbeen in common military use.
This was a lie-- the government had in fact itselfpurchasedshort-barreled shotguns for use by the militaryin WWI to guard prisoners!
Not only was this information deliberately withheld from the US Supreme Court the
government's attorney intentionally lied under oath and stated that no
such weapons were or had ever been in common military use.
Mr.
Miller, impoverished, was unable to afford representation at the court
and thus no opposing argument and exposition of the government's intentional deceptionwas ever brought forward in that seminal case.
It would be nice if the deceptions stopped there, but they have not. "

I can state that I am a victim of Obamacare. Under our insurance, we had three levels. The top level, which we use, had high premiums but low co-pays and no deductible. I have more than gotten my premiums back through the years. The lowest level had low premiums and a high deductible plus high co-pays. I found out the other day that the insurance company has decided that the top level is considered a "cadillac" plan, so they are dropping it. The middle level is OK, but there are greater out-of-pocket expenses. Also, they figured out that the bottom plan is way too generous since it is much higher than the minimum Obamacare standards, so they are reducing the benefits. Who could have seent his coming? Oh yeah, everyone except for the willfully ignorant.

You are confusing liberal cheating, thuggery, and payoffs, including violent attacks with "voting blocks."

"Voting blocks" -- as you call your break down of race, gender, age, sexual orientation are being "insulted" by the democrats every day. It's obvious with the historical numbers of "minorities" out of work, homeless, and on the government dole. It's obvious by keeping your "voting blocks" poor and peasants. But, you keep cheering misery for the masses. It's what you are good at.

So now she's all upset that I know about it, I'm all pissed that I got sucked into it and the boss is on real thin ice with someone else in the office because right after that he started in on her about something and every time she tried to answer his questions, he ignored what she said. She's been here over 20 years though so she finally started yelling listen to me back at him.

578 Haven't read any of the comments thus far this morning, but wanted to thank you morons again for your prayers and good thoughts for those of us on the ground here in central Texas near the explosion. Much of the immediate chaos has organized, but it still looks like a war zone out here. Rain has diminished the fires, which are still smoldering. The injury reports must mainly be compiled by the hospitals, because they are vastly under-reporting injuries. I saw people last night who should have been under care who were pushing wheelchairs down the road to help others, and people in homes we were checking that didn't want to seek a doctor because "other people are worse off."

Door-to-door efforts are still going on, and probably will for days. This is a farming area, with people near the explosion that live a mile from anyone else on the back dirt or caleche rock roads.

People from out of town are showing up to loot, damn them to hell. I warn them that I came across many old ladies with guns in their hands last night who might have opened up on us during the rural checks if we hadn't been able to yell out some familiar names.

No good estimate of death toll yet, so not speculating. I ran into an EMT last nightwho everyone thought was dead. He said he was beginning to feel like he was Snake Plisskin ("I thought you were dead!").

The feds are coming in already, including the ATF.

Will be working the shelters today.

Thank you one and all again for your prayers. We need more. There are some damn fine people out here.

It sounds like it had more to do with keeping track of property than anything else - not issued because the guy's a violent threat to wife or kids.

So I'm still left with a huge MEH about it. People who are divorcing behave badly. I just think that this particular thing doesn't rise to the level of anything. If Sanford was acceptable before this incident came to light, he should still be acceptable now.
