In Case You Weren't Sure, Obama's Lying About the Sequester and Intends to Keep On Lying For Years to Come

Lying liars who lie. Usually people mean that sarcastically; I don't.

One thought about this: I think the media convinces itself to forgive Obama's lying about the details because they've convinced himself that he's right about the bigger picture-- that is, whether Obama created the sequester or not (he did, by the way), it's the Republicans who want to cut spending. So Obama may be lying about the mechanism of cutting spending, but it's all Republicans' fault, because they're the ones pushing the issue.

One problem with that thousandth lie the media is telling itself to excuse Obama: Obama is also on record as supposedly favoring spending cuts, too.

Remember? A "balanced approach" of $3 in cuts to $1 in tax hikes? Well, Obama got his $1 in tax hikes; so we're to have the $3 in cuts now, right?

But Obama won't specify his preferred cuts because he actually prefers no cuts.

So he got elected by running on a campaign lie.

Anyone in the media care about this, a president simply lying about every single one of his beliefs for political purposes, such that hardly a single one of his statements corresponds with any sort of recognizable reality?

The question is rhetorical. The answer is "No."

Except that the question remains: Will the federal government spend more in fiscal 2013 than it did in 2012 or less? Will they every use the sommon english usage of "cuts?"

So he got elected by running on a campaign lie.

And, as our trolls regularly remind us, unreasoning hatred of white men. Who may or may not be rich but Romney was so that was mildly relevant, too.

113 Carol @89: the state GOP here is worse than useless. They are fifth columnists. They were too stupid to be democrats.

We have no bench. They don't care about building infrastructure and they don't caste about local races. So there's nobody to run for those federal and statewide offices. There is no way for us to get together and make a difference.

We saw it with Scott brown: when the national activists helped out, and the democrat machine wasn't paying attention, we won.

No, it doesn't work-- yet. Because we don't have the infrastructure in place.

But the plan does work. We just have to follow the recipe.

It's just like baking a cake: it doesn't matter whether the people you're feeding want the cake or not; the recipe works either way.

125 The media doesn't rationalize Obama's dishonesty, not among themselves. From their perspective, President Obama does what he does in pursuit of a greater truth, a higher law, a vision of the future. Barack Obama is the transcendent hero right out of those Joseph Campbell books their professors told them about.

You know, we on the right joke about The Narrative but The Narrative is no joke, not to them. They believe in The Narrative with all they've got, heart and soul. They're like the natives in Vonnegut's book 'Cat's Cradle', people whose miserable, desperate lives are given meaning and significance because they're playing a part in a bigger story.

To them, we--you and me--are evil, the forces of reactionary, bourgeois darkness. We stand in the way of progress. We interfere with The Narrative. To them, we are not political opponents, the loyal opposition. We are the enemy.

So ask yourself: traditionally and historically, what do brainwashed, totalitarian true believers do to their enemies?

130 For instance:

In your state rep district, your rep is very sensitive to cards and letters.

If 100 voters in the district were to send that rep identical post cards in the same week with a certain message about a certain vote, you can be sure that rep will vote your way.

That's literally all it takes.

You'd probably need 500 for a state senator and 2000 for a congressman in a competitive district.

But that's really all it takes.

Republicans become squishes in DC, because:

1. The media is against them.

2. The local federal government workers are largely against them.

And it's been going on longer than that. Everybody has their epiphany about how much the Media lies, and they lie a lot. They whitewashed John Kennedy's bullshit, covered up for Lyndon until his popularity went south, hated Nixon, and on and on and on...

There's news out that Detroit residents aren't paying property taxes. But from experience I know that (many, some) pay them a year late. but in the articles there was mention that a resident would not pay taxes, go through foreclosure, and then buy back the property at auction at a very cheap price.

352 These media bastards are more than 50% responsible for the election and re (dear god WHY) election of this monumentally unqualified POTUS.

They succeeded in a disinformation campaign twice now, and they seem to have become emboldened with their capability.

What a sad state of affairs it is when the very man accusing the GOP of all kinds of 'hoodwinking' and 'bamboozling' is himself responsible for quite possibly the fastest decline of any single sovereign nation.

We are given excuse after excuse from his lapdog media about how it's not so bad and "Think of worse it could be!!" when him and his democrats have been solely responsible for everything that has happened on their watches. Then, when they DO actually admit things are maybe kinda all sorts of fucked up beyond repair, well then it's that awful GOP's fault and their minuscule minority.

God forbid there be ANY push back on the agenda of a totally unprepared, unqualified, "Community Organizer".

From day one this hack has taken sides on every single issue and made this country more divided than I had ever believed I would see. Relying on the water carriers in the media, he had not worry one.

He knew exactly how this was going to go and how exactly the media would befriend him and virtually guarantee him free of any responsibility of his actions.

I wake up almost sick to my stomach every day thinking what else could this band of liars, cheats, and thieves be up to.

This media must be put in check. They must be reminded of what their jobs are. However I fear this will not happen and we are living "The good ol' Days" right now.

I truly fear for this great nation.
