NBC's Top Political Analyst: Woodward Email Was "The Nicest Brush-back" Any Reporter's Ever Received

Oh, so it's usually worse?

NBC, huh? Delta House of Obama Propaganda.

Mark Murray, NBC News senior political editor, appeared on MSNBC with Craig Melvin in Thursday where he offered his thoughts on the ongoing war between Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward and the White House. Murray said the letter that Woodward received was, in his experience, one of the “nicest brushback” emails a reporter has ever received. “It wasn’t much of a threat at all,” he opined.

Noah C. Rothman wrote an excellent essay on this matter, and suggests that Woodward had ever reason to take the White House's threat as a threat, because they'd similarly gone to war against FoxNews.

So when they say "You'll regret this," they are not speaking abstractly. They have a plan they put into place when someone reports something they don't like.

Now, the media of course said nothing about the War on Fox, but perhaps that's excusable, as, being archliberals, they buy the spin that Fox News is a propaganda arm for conservatives.

But now this same battleplan is being used against Bob Woodward. One cannot help but think it's not the "conservative bias" that so incenses the White House -- it's simply that a reporter reports a Fact they White House doesn't want the public to know.

And will the media come to Woodward's defense? He says No, and I've been saying the same thing.

Who came up with the sequester and when does not enjoy quite the scandalous magnitude that the Watergate break in did. Secondly, Woodward will need powerful and influential allies in traditional media to speak up for his integrity. He will not find them.

...

Without a doubt, Woodward’s status as a canonized saint of modern journalism will impose a crisis of conscience on America’s Fourth Estate. He is holding up a mirror to the institution of journalism, and the reflection is an ugly one. It is one that America’s reporters will turn from – the truth is too painful.

When they came for Fox, they did not stand up because they did not work for Fox. The media’s lot is now well and truly cast with the administration – their fates are linked. Whatever his contribution to journalism, Bob Woodward will soon find that no single reporter is irreplaceable. "

The penny-ante leukocytes, the no-account Warrior Cells of the liberal governmental-media Hive-Body have surrounded the impurity in the system and are in the process of destroying it.

Apparently there was no threat, and yet the threat has been executed nevertheless.

And Let's Not Forget the Primary Lie That Prompted the Secondary Threat: Brit Hume: Woodward's sin was exposing "big whoppers" the Administration told on the sequester.

There are several lies Woodward has exposed:

1. Obama, despite the media blitz to blame the GOP, actually conceived of and proposed the sequester.

2. Obama, despite now claiming that tax increases must be part of the deal to avoid the sequester, agreed last year that only spending cuts would constitute the plan to avoid the sequester. Thus, he's "moved goalposts" yet again.

3. Obama does not in fact have to release illegal aliens or cancel ship deployments due to the sequester -- he's doing these things by choice, for political purposes.

It was very much a "WE WILL BURY YOU!" note. In fact, it's all the worse for all the kind wording. If anything it was the beginning of the "what difference does it make" narrative- which has since failed, obviously.

And isn't it just an odd coincidence that he was told "you might regret" and now he's become the target of every voice on the left. I'm sure they're not related At. All.

36 Isn't the next question clearly "allright then, what was the worst brush back by this administration?" The media is playing this wrong. "We get yelled at all the time by the administration!" Oh really? About what? See, that's actually a story in itself. We know there's a full court press to hush Bengazi. What about all the "when I tried to write about Bengazi, I got disciplined" stories? I know they don't have the balls for this, but it would be great to see.

But another problem with these events is that it uncomfortably exposes the water-carriers. They know Obama doesn't have their back. They're disposable and he'll replace them easily. But when the public can so plainly go down the list of journalists and say who is credible and who is not, it makes the nots a little queasy. They're fine with indirect evidence of their lack of integrity, but direct evidence sucks for them.

51 Just bringing this over from the previous thread, since it still applies.

The tone I got from the email exchange between Woodward and whatshisname was pretty damn sinister. Sure it was cloaked in niceties, but this is how it read to me:

---------

"We're friends, Bob, amiright? Buddies. So this story you've got out there. About the sequester. I've got to say, Bobby, I'm not feeling the love. I'm feeling a little wounded, actually. Like maybe you've been talking to people behind my back. Like maybe you've been saying things you shouldn't have been saying to people you shouldn't be talking to.

"Now I'm not saying we aren't friends. I'm just saying that, as a friend, I find what you've written to be a little hurtful. Mama always taught me that, if you didn't have anything nice to say, you should keep your mouth shut.

"I'm not saying that's what I'm saying. I'm just saying.

"But we're friends, Bobby. We can patch this up. I wouldn't want to lose a good friend like you, and Bobby? You definitely don't want to lose a friend like me. Because I've got other friends, Bobby. And you know what they say about the friend of my enemy, enemy of my friend.

"Not that I'm saying you're an enemy, Bobby. I'm just saying."

That was an email following up about a 30 minute screeching tirade by Sperling at Woodward.

Also for the first time in my recollection after a historic event--the Benghazi attack--you had a sitting Secretary o State do a lengthy sit down prime time interview--the first one after the attack--and the Secretary of State--Hillary Clinton--didn't even have to hear one question about the event from the reporter--Barbara Walters.

Barbara Walters--who should have had some leverage to be allowed to at least ask the questions.

No how in the hell does this Obama White House get passes like that?

(I think Woodward just gave you a big clue.)

I do, I think Woodward, at his age, wants to be the first one on the pile.

I've said it before.Even if they want to argue it wasn't a "we're going to destroy you" threat. It would still be a "you'll be sorry when you see how wrong you were" threat. Which is completely out of context given that they didn't actually try to defend against any of Woodward's arguments (past the talking point's he's already debunked.) So to even pull that conversion off would imply they're lying to him which brings us back to "destroy you."

No. The email he has. It's on the record (by definition, unless the writer asked it to stay off the record). Whatever phone conversation he had might not have been recorded, or might have been off-the-record.

Woodward is a leftist-hack, but he's one of the few Journalists left with some standard of ethics. He wouldn't release something that was off-the-record.

______________

Was it a phone call--for some reason I assumed it was face to face.

A phone call makes much more sense however.

Hears the thing though---we alll know during the phone call it was much more instincutal --so probably worse than what you would sit down and take the time to write in an email.

Plus--bet you anything Sperling is a lawyer or went to law school so he knows writing a reporter like Woodward is a much different ball game in the rules of evidence as opposed to what he might have screamed at Woodward while losing it during a phone call.

--btw--Obama's new Chief of Staff Denis McDonough has a real reputation for being a hothead--and that is his M.O.

Before just being recently promoted/rewarded to Obama's Chief of Staff--he was one of Obama's chief national security advisers--during the Benghazi attack.

173 Just like Dr. Benjamin Carson at the National Prayer Breakfast said of on the tax code: If the government wanted to 'get you' on something, the tax code is so big they could easily find something to 'get you with' (paraphrasing). So, Dr. Ben Carson pretty much covered his butt and prevented an audit. With Woodward going public, will it prevent the administration from sicking the IRS on his ass?

Not that either Carson or Woodward public statements would stop the regime from sicking the IRS on their butts, but they would risk a Tea Party on steroids if regime did attack.

"Simple Gifts"

Its a gift to be simple, Its a gift to be free,
Its the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
Will be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend, we will not be ashamed,
To turn, turn, will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right

How do these people know what took place on the call between Sperling and Woodward? The only indication we have besides Woodward are the emails. And in the emails, Sperling apologizes but notes that he really did think Woodward would come to regret his portrayal of events.

Wouldn't anybody assume that this was a small climbdown from a greater sort of threat Sperling made on the phone? And the email was a little paper trail Sperling could release to cover his ass from the original telephone threat?

Spurling threatened what Woodward values above all else - his reputation. 251 Vladimir Putin's ways of interacting with the media can't happen in the West. Our media is smarter than that.

I wonder if these rat tits realize that many of the reporters who were fired, arrested, died mysteriously or disappeared, were not all Putin critics from the start.

I wonder if they will ever realize what kind of trouble they were in during these times.

It's so cute when you think there are rules for the actions taken by the gerbils.

254 Amen, 245. Don't expect him to not stab you in the back, Woodward Conservatives. It is what they do. Conservatives stuck up for Juan Williams-he is as scummy as ever no matter who is cutting him his check.

255 32 And isn't it just an odd coincidence that he was told "you might regret" and now he's become the target of every voice on the left. I'm sure they're not related At. All.

Nope, it wasn't a threatening letter, just friendly correspondence.

Excellent. Well played. (Next up for Bob: drug addiction, suicidal ideation, fornication with a moron, bastardy, AIDS, marriage to the moron and early painful death. Cut and that's a wrap.)

This is all too delicious.

Anyway, Bob better be planning on a lot of meals by himself. It's how it starts. First, it's soup and cottage cheese on a tray in front of the television, next thing, you're talking to the portraits on the wall and asking Kissinger to pray with you.

Bob wrote all about it.

Fun times.

259 Probs not news as I haven't read all 200+ comments, but the link to Mediate about "gone to war against FoxNews" is kapoot.

260 Woodward's sin is supporting a communist agenda for 40 years and now crying about what he helped create.
Hahahahahaha, suck it up Bobby, you asked for it.

261 Woodward might want to share notes with Sharyl Attkisson and Pat Caddell - hmm Fast and Furious - Benghazi and the Sequester - I seem to see a pattern here. One mendacity is chance, two is coincidence, three is enemy action.

"Mr Woodward, do you know what your sin is?"

"He is not the plucky hero, the Alliance is not the Evil Empire, and this is not the Grand Arena."

"....and that's not incense."
