| Brit Hume: Obama's Making this Sequester, Which He Proposed and Signed Into Law, as Painful for the Country as Humanly PossibleOr words to that close effect. You understand, of course, that when the government fears it may have to lay off nonessential workers, or reduce funding to unnecessary low-priority programs, it always goes after the essential workers in the essential functions of government to make them hostages. Give us all the money we want, or we'll stop inspecting chickens for salmonela. Senator Coburn has some ideas for reducing spending. Perhaps these unnecessary new hires could be cancelled in lieu of reducing anti-terrorism efforts.![]() Comments1

Sure, just like cities always lay off police and close down firehouses, rather than the patronage drones in the bureaucracy. The government is basically holding a gun to citizens' heads saying, "Pay up!"

It is gut wrenching to feel this way about the President, but if we were to have a major terrorist attack I think Obama would find some way to blame it on Republicans because if it helped his agenda he simply doesn't care. God will judge me for this but I hate feeling the President is evil. I hate having to worry what sociopathic thing he's going to do next, and yet i continue to pray for him Scripture says we are to pray for leaders as well as for our enemies.

He pointed out that the news cycle is turning towards the GOP, because instead of the preferred subjects of Obama (and most of the press) , immigration and abortion and such, the cycle is going to be about budget and jobs, a GOP subject.2. He also said that the $500,000 donors getting quarterly meetings with the president could be a Lincoln Bedroom issue for the GOP against Obama. Now, why did the NYT allow a reporter on Fox? That is weird in and of itself. And he was quietly critical of Obama and not crazy in suppoting him, as leftists usually are.So, perhaps things are changing. The GOP never, ever learn this stuff.
It's not enough to have a press release. It's got to be a press conference. And it's got to be hard to ignore. Hold it out at curbside in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Embarrass the bastards. It's not as though they have any shortage of stuff over which to be embarrassed. My favorite? An explicit public demand that Obama cut back his leisure travel to the national average for ordinary American workers. If I recall correctly, that average is one 5-7 day out of town trip per year. If it's good enough for the rest of us, it should be good enough for King Putt. Posted by: torquewrench at February 25, 2013 08:07 PM (gqT4g) 111

I haven't watched Fox since the election, but I don't remember seeing anyone from the NYT there since O's first election. Given how afraid the MSM is to offend O, this is a good sign. Maybe, just maybe, they've finally figured out O isn't giving them any access anyway, so what are they really losing? Until I see a lot more like this I won't get my hopes up though. Mission accomplished. Why do people listen to someone say something and not think to themselves "what else could they be saying other than what I WANT to hear"? I started doing this when I was a kid. I have a large vocabulary and have always been fascinated by the different meanings for the same word. This technique is well-known in government, and is called the "Washington Monument Strategy".
The National Park Service has a cut of a buck fifty a year? The NPS leadership responds by closing the Washington Monument. The citizens are outraged by the savage cuts imposed on the underfunded NPS and demands that their congressmen restore the funds in time for the 6th grade class visit to the Washington Monument. This is classic DC gamesmanship. It's been well known since at least the Kissinger era. That the press isn't bothering to point this out is just another example of how far in the tank they are. President Barack Obama won’t have to worry about his paycheck if the spending sequestration included in the Budget Control Act that he signed into law in 2011 begins taking effect this Friday.
A report published last month by the Congressional Research Service–“Budget Sequestration and Selected Program Exemptions and Special Rules”–identifies certain programs that are exempt from sequestration and lays out special rules that govern the sequestration of others. Section 255 of the Budget Control Act includes “Compensation for the President” as one of those exemptions (Page 19). Well I know that will sleep better tonight! My favorite? An explicit public demand that Obama cut back his leisure travel to the national average for ordinary American workers. If I recall correctly, that average is one 5-7 day out of town trip per year. If it's good enough for the rest of us, it should be good enough for King Putt.
Too many Americans would side with the SCOAMF, especially with the MSM cheerleaders exclaiming how hard it is to be President. Let the cuts come, and let them happen to essential services. The only way we're going to see reform is to make it as painful as possible. When people are complaining about the cuts to police and firefighters, then tell point out to them all the worthless cockroaches that are still infesting the government. My theory is that media, especially television is infested with commies. They did not just happen to fall in love with Barry and now can't stand to criticize him. They carefully selected him because "ooh first black president, historical" gives them the cover to go full pravda for their marxist agenda which aligns with his. People who know the media are lying cut them some slack on it, thinking they just can't bear to criticize the first black president.

Government employees in the DC area only work three days a week. One day it is mandatory to work from home because of traffic congestion. Of course we paid for the laptops, blackberries, and internet service for these precious ones so they could "work" from home. Could easily eliminate 60% of the government employees in DC and not even see a difference in "service." Hell, services would probably improve.

Last time there was talk of a shutdown was a few years back but I distinctly remember the number 800,000 non-essential government workers being talked about.
The Republicans need to get every one of their people on the same sheet of music to repeat this number and ask why President Obama is not cutting those non-essential workers back. Every time a microphone gets shoved in their face, regardless of the question. Think about it. Non-essential workers? How many private companies are there that carry non-essential workers? Riddle me that. And Obama is going to stop meat inspections? WTF? Posted by: LGoPs at February 25, 2013 09:05 PM (4x8W0) 304
The Oblamer modus operandi is pretty obvious now, except to the low information drones who know their life's suck quotient has increased exponentially since Oblamer's ascension, but can't put 2 and 2 together...
Step 1- engineer a crisis, play lots of golf and hang out with celebrities as it approaches. Do nothing to remedy the budget problem, the bloated national debt, the economic collapse. Every crisis engineered is instead to be devoted to 2 things - (i) payoffs to cronies, esp green stimulus, and (ii) raise taxes on the rich (which includes middle class), fight to the end to preserve the corrupt payoffs in the tax code you like (esp green energy credits etc). Step 2 - blame the republican house, which will have acted repeatedly to diffuse the crisis and actually lead to a 5 year overdue economic recovery; mischaracterize or flat out lie about the steps the house proposes or passes; instruct Hairy Reed to do nothing...above all, don't pick up the phone and work on compromises with the House or areas of shared agreement. Instead, pontificate and demand, and reward loyal DMM reporters with exclusives provided they stick to the blame the R message and don't ask about inconvenient things, like 20% unemployment or gas / food prices... Step 3 - tell the DMM to ignore Hairy Reed's fecklessness and abandonment of the Senate's constitutional role. Feed the DMM talking points blaming everything on the Rs - if they don't 'compromise' precisely as Oblamer demands, then they are responsible for the catalogue of horrors Oblamer describes... Step 4 - when it all blows up, have slow Joe ride to the rescue with a plan that is greatly inferior to what could have been achieved if he's bargained in good faith and over areas of shared agreement, but which nonetheless serves to set up the next crisis...play golf, hang out with celebs on the public dime, and reward loyal DMM reporters if they fellate well enough... And the real truth is that there isn't going to be an Article V
Convention because the federal government would not recognize its legitimacy even if 2/3rds of the states demanded it. Yep, that's the problem. The federal government daily seems to act as if it no longer recognizes the Constitution as a legitimate governing document. Now, why did the NYT allow a reporter on Fox? That is weird in and of itself. And he was quietly critical of Obama and not crazy in suppoting him, as leftists usually are.So, perhaps things are changing. Maybe someone on the NYT has discovered something which makes them want Obama out. Perhaps that is my hopeful thinking, but it was very strange to see that guy there. -- That is interesting. I haven't watched Fox since the election, but I don't remember seeing anyone from the NYT there since O's first election. Given how afraid the MSM is to offend O, this is a good sign. Maybe, just maybe, they've finally figured out O isn't giving them any access anyway, so what are they really losing? ***************** Jeff Zeleny of the NYT has appeared occasionally on Fox News for the past several years. He's always been pretty much in the middle-if-the-road in his comments, iow he's not your typical NYT "journalist". Jeff Peters, OTOH, is a new NYT face on Fox News. The gun is a Smith and Wesson. Its not a model 19. It is a 357. Its model number, given the adjustable sights, is dependent upon the decade of manufacture. What fraking difference does it make; the dog is stew meat for Barry once the trigger is squeezed?

Probably a dead thread, just came to comment on the revolver, and lo and behold the last comment is on that subject. Don't know, but looks like a 2.5-inch Model 66 to me. It really does. Also, as I just passed on one for sale here locally, and a snub K-frame has been the only gun on my list for some time, perhaps I'm seeing things ..... Model 19 would of course be the blued version. I really prefer one of those in the snub, but alas in idiotic CA all SW revolvers of yore are hard to come by, can't be bought out of state, etc. Back on topic - the "Washington Monument strategy", as this ridiculous hostage-taking tactic was known back in ancient times when I worked on the Hill and saw budget show-downs up close, is a fitting tribute to the idiocy and degradation of America today. That anything like this can be taken seriously, at any level, notwithstanding histrionic press distortion, is an irredeemable condemnation of the collapse of our civic culture. Still recall how much I loved the two (?) short "layoffs" in 1994 (?) resulting from the Newt/Clintidiot showdown. The lifers at my agency were apoplectic, of course. Imagine a week or two of your career off, time to clean out the garage, sleep in, etc. They were besides themselves. I went to the gym, shopped for hockey equipment, read, and enjoyed myself. Kinda says it all about the majority of folks currently drawn to federal employment, at least on the extremely non-essential civilian side (though we were in the foreign policy side of things). Don't be surprised if we do have a "terrorist" attack (generated by the O and homeland security)so he can exact more damage on America. Then he can blame Republicans and stampede citizens to demand an increase in spending all to help Zero lock down his real agenda. E.V.I.L.
