White House Pushes Senate Democrats' Tax Plan, Stressing the Need to Close "Corporate Jet Loophole;"
Jay Carney Rambles Incoherently When It's Noted that the Senate Democrats' Plan Does Not Close "the Corporate Jet Loophole"

We're living in the Pretending Times.

Nothing this White House says has any correlation with reality. It's as if, at this point, no one expects its statements to correlate with reality, so no one makes an issue about it.

We have a president who ran to the right of McCain promising to cut deficit in half

Who has not pushed a budget to completion in 4 years and has racked up $4T in debt which ignores we're spending $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in the revenue we actually have and the trillions in QE that the Fed has printed

And yet, it's the GOP's fault.

And yet, Romney could not press this point because, to quote slow Joe, ryan's plan cut security at benghazi.

This is below low information voting.

80 "Stressing the Need to Close 'Corporate Jet Loophole'"

Something worth pointing out is the utterly incoherent and self-contradictory nature of Obama's policies in many key areas.

On the one hand, we have Obama talking incessantly about the evils of corporate jets.

And on the other hand, we had Obama back in 2010 visiting a newly opened facility in the Midwest that makes composite wings for corporate jets, and praising the number of jobs thus created.

So, er, are corporate jets bad? Or good? Depends on the day, with Obama.

If we had an actual press corps, instead of the rancidly decomposing press corpse we have now, this incessant weathervaning by Obama might perhaps be pointed out from time to time.

84 IDK what GOP can do to help because it's about 3years and 6 months until the next 3 hour window to explain ourselves.

You know what would be awesome? Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Mia Love announce that they’re going to debate the future of the Republican Party and really tear each other to shreds, and would anyone be willing to air it?

And then they spend the entire evening explaining how completely stupid and clueless the Democrats various plans are.

Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at February 21, 2013 05:45 PM (QF8uk)

85 "“Our position – in the president’s plan that has been available for ages but republicans and some reporters pretend doesn’t exist – is that the corporate jet loophole should be eliminated. We’d be fine if it were eliminated as part of the revenue component of a sequester buy-down or as part of broader tax reform in a bigger balanced deficit reduction deal. Either way. And either way, Republicans oppose it, and would rather see sequester hit than ask corporate jet owners to give up their special tax break. How is that not true?”"

Shorter Carn-balls:
"It's in the plan you just pretend it's not. And the only reason you can't find it is because the Republicans have willed it out of existence ... with their evil minds~! Besides, as a Democrat I cannot tell I lie."

I mean seriously, just laugh at them. GOP just compromised and raised taxes. SO WHERE ARE THE CUTS?? WHERE'S THE PLAN???

The softballs are floating right across the plate. Helen Keller could hit them. But we have Boehner talking about how "awful" and "terrible" the sequester is.

Messaging should be: Sequester was Obama's idea, we didn't want it, we think it's a stupid way to cut. Obama promised the American people that the sequester wouldn't happen. But Obama has provided no plans to cut spending. We will carry on just fine after the sequester. And the sequester is the beginning of the spending cuts, not the ending. If Obama won't get out of control spending under wraps, we'll do his job for him. I understand he might be wanting some more golf matches with Tiger Woods.

Nothing further.

The GOP should shove a bill through the House banning all such aircraft in US airspace. Saying that while they personally disagree with it, the President has a right to have his ideas put to an up or down vote. Then dare Obama and the Senate Democrats to live down their own stance.

114 Iran defeated the United States in the fourth round of the Wrestling World Cup Thursday after winning six out of seven individual matches in the event held in Tehran's Azadi Sport Complex, a U.S. wrestling official told FoxNews.com.
The U.S. team had defeated Georgia and Japan in previous rounds, however, only wrestler Jordan Burroughs, who is in the 163-pound weight class, was able to score a victory over his Iranian opponent Ezzatollah Akbarizarinkolaei .
The Wrestling World Cup, which changes venue each year, is an annual event that draws wrestlers from around the globe and, in some minds, offers the rare opportunity to put politics aside for sport.
Gary Abbott, the director of communication from USA Wrestling, said political views stay well off the mats.
"I have very close friends who are journalists in Iran," he said, before pointing out that the three strongest countries in wrestling are ironically the U.S., Iran and Russia, with North Korea not too far behind. "The sport breaks down barriers."

"Sports breaks down barriers"? Ah bullshit and we have no more business being in Tehran than we did being in Berlin in 1936

repost from a dead thread

From the drudge link on Detroit:

Nearly half of the owners of Detroit's 305,000 properties failed to
pay their tax bills last year, exacerbating a punishing cycle of
declining revenues and diminished services for a city in a financial
crisis, according to a Detroit News analysis of government records.
The News reviewed more than 200,000 pages of tax documents and found that
47 percent of the city's taxable parcels are delinquent on their 2011
bills. Some $246.5 million in taxes and fees went uncollected, about
half of which was due Detroit and the rest to other entities, including
Wayne County, Detroit Public Schools and the library.
Delinquency is so pervasive that 77 blocks had only one owner who paid taxes last
year, The News found. Many of those who don't pay question why they
should in a city that struggles to light its streets or keep police on
them.

If Romney had actually won, and he was backed with Republican House and Senate support like we're seeing now, with a full court press by the liberal state media to disgrace and disparage every Republican with an IQ above room temperature, I'm not sure I could tell the difference, beyond a slight difference in the second differential of the decline.
