1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, February 21, 2013. On this day in 1741 Jethro Tull died. He was famous for inventing the horse drawn seed drill and developing modern methods of farming. Hahahahaa, Morons gotcha. The band was named after him. Lots of doomy news this morning so lets hit it.

10 I don’t know why Fox is touting this “clean coal” BS because it is expensive as hell. But look at this bullshit:

Researchers have discovered a stunning new process that takes the energy from coal without burning it -- and removes virtually all of the pollution

snip

The process removes 99 percent of the pollution from coal, which some scientists link to global warming. Coal-burning power plants produced about one-third of the nation’s carbon dioxide total in 2010, or about 2.3 billion metric tons, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

I have some news for you SOBs, CO2 is not pollution contrary to what those lying crooks in the EPA say. This scam has been discredited now for several years, quit publishing the lies.

91 New nominee to head EPA was one of the women Romney kept in his binders:

"A Boston native, McCarthy came to Washington after serving as the top environmental regulator in Massachusetts and Connecticut under Democratic and Republican governors.

Former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, a Democrat, appointed her chairwoman of a council to oversee a review of a proposed hazardous waste incinerator in the Boston area in 1990.

She later served as an environmental policy adviser to then-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and launched the state's first Climate Protection Action Plan."

The truth of the matter is several factors:

Decreased drill in the US
Fewer refineries because of shutting them down and switchover to summer gas (biggest reason)
Dollar ain't worth a shit anymore and getting worse.

I held out until the low fuel light came on and save about $10 by merely paying about $4.10 a gallon in the north end of Ventura County. I made a point of having a full tank when the job took me to Santa Barbara this week.

That was covered in the editorial. Governors like Mr. Scott and Kasich are trying to innoculate themselves on the right by creating triggers or "sunsets" that would automatically rescind their participation in new Medicaid if - make that when- Washington reneges on funding. They're only conning themselves. HHS can simply impose a blanket "maintenance of effort" rule that prohibits opting out - or any other change.

Thanks for playing, suckers.

As I've said before, and will say again, until the inevitable happens and Karl Rove lines his pocket with Jeb Bush's dollars and goosesteps us into another Presidential defeat, the Bush® brand is damaged beyond repair.

Which is unfortunate for Jeb, as I thought he did fine as Gov of FL. As long as the American public is willing to give Obama a free ride by continuing to blame everything bad on GWB, there's no chance for another Bush. I don't see it ending. LIVoters decide elections, sad to say.

179 Consider the demographics of Iowa. The type of pregnancies Planned

FWIW, a third of the newborns my father sees (he doesn't deliver, he just checks them out to see if they're healthy enough to go home) have parents that Margaret Sanger would have deemed "human weeds" because they have too much melanin/speak English as a second language.

And about another third of the mothers are poor, and the "kids first, marriage later" thing reached rural Iowa about 20 years ago; she wasn't a fan of those, either.

184 Oh, motor cycles are lovely things. I was active in the sport for decades, until I faced incontrovertible evidence that Sacco, Vanzetti and Che all rode my brand (JK; I suddenly didn't have a spare kidney, so guv 'er up). But you can't sell it on the mileage basis, simply because grown men will not (can not) double up on a bike.

I rode across town behind a buddy on a Kawasaki flexible-flyer, once. People in cars pointed. And sidecar? Not without a .303 GPMG. It's like wearing seersucker.

So, four guys on 51 MPG motor cycles go for a weekend trip. That's 13 MPG, plus a little oil. You'd do better with one 4WD pickup truck, if it's a half-ton.

A lot depends on where you live. Have had a 103 since 2005. Here in Florida it runs hot and had the added expense of a race tuner and new pipes so we would not burn our legs. Bike came with an oil cooler and you'll need to add one if the bike does not come with one. Here on flat ground we get about 33/34 mpg. When we travel to NC we get 38-42 mpg. If you live in or near the mountains you should be okay. If not, prepare to be disappointed.

200 Carter was the worst of all worlds totally incompetent and a micro-manager. I have worked for one of those before. Let me tell you, it is a grade a SOB.

Welcome to virtually every manager I have ever had. My current supervisor and the supervisor I had when I started my LAST job are/were awesome. Every other one has been either a micromanaging idiot or a laissez-faire twit. I'm all for laissez-faire when it comes to gubmint, but when you're a private business with three employees and you're leaving a lot of big business decisions to little old me, the chick who answers the phones and takes orders? Then there's a problem, IMO.

The micromanaging is at its worst in gubmint work; I honestly believe that. It's already such a bureaucratic profession. Toss in a hovering moron (lowercase M) who doesn't know the first thing about what you're trying to do and keeps interrupting you as you do it and you just add to the amount of time and red tape it takes to get ANYTHING done. At least in private business there usually has to be SOME deliverable that has to be completed by a certain time.

On the other hand, I told the honest truth on a phone interview once that I would be uncomfortable working with people whose first language was not English. No job offer. But I really did not want to do IT work with people with a limited ability to conjugate verbs correctly.

246 Wyoming has low gs taxes, and all other taxes too which is one of the reasons I want to move there.

Not so fast there, pardner. The (R) Governor has approved a 10-cent per gallon tax increase which will become effective in June. It'll be great for the State economy they said.

251 One thing I don't understand about the "Blade Runner" case is why-

He doesn't spend the night sharpening the edges his running blades like a convict sharpening up a toothbrush handle as a shiv then

then cut off the heads of every single asshole in the courtroom like a

paraplegic helicopter of death!

257 253 Not bad. Waiting to see how bad this storm coming in ends up being since I've heard everything from "no snow" to as much as 10" with an ice glaze on top.

258 @241

I have to aslo think that some of these teachers, at least, really don't want to teach. They want to be models or actresses or porn stars but either can't make a living wage at it or don't know how to break into the porn industry....

^^^^THIS^^^^

The Education Degree has become the refuge for the less than intelligent and lazy who want a job they can't be fired from and retire early to double dip.

I meet a fair number of young teachers and you wouldn't believe how many tell me:

a) they're taking an administrative course because they can't wait to get out of the classroom

b) they can't wait to put the minimal time in to retire then double dip and that's the main reason they became teachers

That's also why they become so crazed when people discuss changing the system to make it more cost efficient.

261 Fox going on and on about blade runner murder, all while showing pictures of his blond babe wife.

One wonders if we would have even heard about this if he had been married to an ugly pig.

Our local newsreader said he is accused of "allegedly" killing his wife. I e-mailed her to let her know that there's no "allegedly" involved. He killed her. The question is whether it's murder or an accident.I have to wonder if these people actually pay attention to the news or just read it.
Yes, I know. That's a stupid question.

262 We are beyond boned if we shut down 4 CVNs. The USN guarantees our trade and peace in the Far East.

World peace between major powers depends on previous decisive victories, nuclear weapons, and maritime supremacy. See Europe 1814-1914. Some exceptions apply, ussally involving Germany.

I now return you to fantasies about John F Kerry convincing the world to love us.

That's one of the problems with our politically correct society. Anyone with a handicap can only be exalted. We're not allowed to point out that maybe, just maybe, the person is flawed in a big way. Early on, the reports were that this wasn't the first time police had to come to his house. Those reports quickly disappeared.
