3 Something I said would be coming after all these military budget cuts. Overseas tours will be extended. This happens every time they cut the military. Instead of cutting the missions they increase the mission time for the troops. And since we gave up any hope of a real mission in this shit hole we should have left long ago anyway.

11 This is what happens when you have a federal panel with taxpayer funded lawyers who are black racists. The EEOC should be eliminated. Also, this “disparate impact” bullshit needs to be eliminated because it is one of the biggest legal frauds on earth. One wonders what would happen if companies told the EEOC to pack this shit up their ass and ignored the courts.

Coming to a class action lawsuit near you:

PCWorld.com has confirmed with Microsoft that the new EULA ties Office 2013 to just one PC and one PC only. That means users cannot uninstall that copy of the software and then install it on a different PC, even if that second PC is owned by the same person who owns the original PC that had the copy of Office 2013.

Microsoft offered a "No comment" when asked if a person who installed a copy of Office 2013 could reinstall it on another PC if the original computer was lost, destroyed or stolen. Asked how they planned to enforce such rules, Microsoft stated simply, "Software piracy is a substantial global issue, and we implement a number of protocols to prevent unlawful software distribution.”

It seems clear that the changes to the EULA in Office 2013 are a move by Microsoft to get users to sign up for the Office 365 program.

Can Dr Carson stand up to the state run media, running against Ms Hillary Benghazi Wife of Teflon Slick Willy Rodme Clinton?

He was asked about that. He issued a challenge for the MFM. He said there were no skeletons in his closet. Several books and a movie based on his life would tend to bear that out.

As opposed to my closet, which is constructed of bones.

A friend and I were talking about this last night, we both fear the Democrats will literally beat the bushes to try and do an Anita Hill on Dr. Carson. 126 Can one of the long time Morons put me some f'n knowledge here? A ways back there was a commenter by the name of Stuck on Stupid who showed up for a time on the ONT with some regularity. In the days after Andrew's passing (I know, that's like seven years in Moron time) he claimed to have had a run in at work with a guy in a Che t-shirt and his group of goons. SOS had his computer trashed and his car trashed, the Che-boy got fired, SOS got a better position at the same company, developed a friendship with one of the security guards, picked up a girlfriend, etc. If it was all true, it was a great story. If it wasn't true, he had a real knack for verisimilitude; no single incident or detail was outrageously out of bounds. I got interested and was rooting for the guy. He didn't make himself out to be any kind of hero, just somebody who took a small stand and pushed back. After a while I lost track, but both he and his girlfriend Hummingbird were posting at one point. What happened to them?

A case involving an Orange County teacher accused of luring boys into sending him lewd photos is growing, authorities said. More alleged victims have come forward, bringing the total to at least 70.

Police in Irvine Zachary Reeder, 30, posed as a girl on Facebook and enticed teenage boys into sending him sexually explicit photos of themselves.

Reeder was a history teacher at Servite High School in Anaheim from 2008 until last weekend. Authorities said he was immediately fired after his arrest on Saturday. Reeder was also a walk-on baseball coach at Irvine's Beckman High School for four seasons until the last school year.

He posted $1 million bail after being booked on suspicion of lewd conduct with a child, possession and distribution of child pornography, and child annoyance. He's facing more than 100 felony counts.

The appendix may not be useless after all. The worm-shaped structure found near the junction of the small and large intestines evolved 32 times among mammals, according to a new study. The finding adds weight to the idea that the appendix helps protect our beneficial gut bacteria when a serious infection strikes.

In a new study, published online this month in Comptes Rendus Palevol, the researchers compiled information on the diets of 361 living mammals, including 50 species now considered to have an appendix, and plotted the data on a mammalian evolutionary tree. They found that the 50 species are scattered so widely across the tree that the structure must have evolved independently at least 32 times, and perhaps as many as 38 times.

Ii has been suggested that the appendix has an immunological role, acting as a "safe house" for beneficial gut bacteria.

The reason I don't read those "smart military blogs" is because they tend to be one-trick ponies, and no matter how good they are at it, the same topic gets boring after a while.

Back when the blog revolution started, I read everything I could. After a while, my blog reading started narrowing down to a select few. Right now, it consists of exactly one blog I read regularly: this one. I figure, if it's important enough, the info on those "niche" blogs will filter through to here eventually, so I don't have to go looking for it. Like what Vic said @ #1, the day in 1959 when Fulgencia Batista was replace with Castro.

The father of one of my friends grew up in Cuba and left when he was 36 because of problems with being in a Labor Union (this before WWII).
Later, he and his wife (friends mother) would go to visit Cuba and family from time to time. Cuba is a beautiful island, with nice people. At the time of the disposition of Batista, Cuba had the highest per capita income among Caribean countries, and the highest literacy rate. Yes their was poverty and unequal distribution of wealth, but where is that not true?

Today.50 plus years under the Castro dictatorship, the country is poorer, much less free, with lower literacy and no real hope of a "future", with a large per centage of Cubans having escaped to the US or Mexico.

255 Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife Sandi intend to plead guilty to federal
charges alleging the former congressman misused $750,000 in campaign
funds while she understated their income on tax returns for six years,
their lawyers say.

Federal authorities allege that Jackson Jr. used campaign funds to
purchase a $43,350 men’s gold-plated Rolex watch, $5,150 worth of fur
capes and parkas, and $9,588 in children’s furniture. The purchases were
made between 2007 and 2009, according to the criminal information,
which authorities noted is not evidence of guilt.

Other expenditures listed by prosecutors include $10,105 on Bruce Lee
memorabilia, $11,130 on Martin Luther King memorabilia and $22,700 on
Michael Jackson items, including $4,600 for a "Michael Jackson fedora."

Providence College (PC) has named an award for anti-racist activists after Trayvon Martin, a Florida youth who was shot and killed last year in an incident which embroiled the country in a debate on guns and race.

The Providence College Black Studies Program created the Trayvon Martin Award for Social Justice to memorialize victims of racism.

The Travyon Martin Award for Social Justice will be given to one upperclassmen and one faculty member at the college who have illustrated a commitment to combatting racism and promoting social justice.

According to an email obtained by Campus Reform, the PC Black Studies Program created the Trayvon Martin Award for Social Justice to memorialize all victims of “racism and oppression.”

Dr. Julia Jordan-Zachery of the Providence College Black Studies Program, who is in charge of the award, told Campus Reform on Wednesday that her department plans to expand the award to include a scholarship in the future.

300 Facebook will pay zero taxes after deducting executive stock options and bonuses.

This is the trick Microsoft perfected back in '94 or '95 (with the help of Congress) that created the .com bubble: the IRS treats options at their current value, the SEC treats them at the value the company bought them at (a few pennies). So you pay few taxes but are massively profitable- people buy your stock, the price goes up, making you more profitable, sending the price up again.

Clever.

Some of the ones off the top of my head are Rachel Lucas, Neo-Neocon, Transterrestrial Musings, Market Ticker, Gates of Vienna, and Belmont Club.

Rachel was one of the earliest bloggers I remember reading, and I was reading Belmont Club before Wretchard joined PJM.

Market Ticker and NASASpaceflight.com have forum structures, where members can start their own threads if they want. Both sites are incredibly vast, with dozens of sub-categories.

NASASpaceflight.com is the gold standard for space junkies. If you can't get your fix of space news and discussion there, you need to be actually working in the industry.

Despite its name, NASASpaceflight.com is not associated with NASA. It was started by a British sports journalist, if I'm not mistaken, who was also an amateur space buff. It has grown to incredible proportions, and has members from all over the world including people who actually do work or have worked in the space industry in the US and in other countries. It's an unbelievable treasure trove of information.

311 #297 Why thank you.

A little report from Indiana. Pence is going to have to step up his game or he is going to be a flop. Examples:

1. In the case of the DNR arresting people who had nursed a wounded fawn back to health, he was slow to intervene with the stupidity and let it become a nationwide story.

2. Interviewed about the EPA closing down 6 coal generating plants in Indiana next year (which will be devastating to our economy) he said his plan was to "go to Washington and make out case to them." This is TALK and not action, and as we have seen with numerous examples, will do no good with the Obama people.

3. Failed to get a GOP-controlled legislature to include his publicly requested 10% tax cut into the proposed budget.

4. Keeps referring to Mitch Daniels as "my predecessor" instead of using his name, which irritates me, since that is usually done for an opponent.

Yes, it is better that he is governor instead of a democrat. Unless he steps up his game, he is not going to be a presidential candidate in the future.

Question for discussion
Which is less racist?

1. A person who notices another person's skin color and makes a conscious effort to not let that be a factor in dealings with that other person.

2. A person who repeatedly points out the difference in the color of people's skin and uses that as the basis for every action they take related to those other people.

3. A person who doesn't notice the color of a person's skin in the first place.

321 #316 HA! I have a million eBay stories. My answer after a few questions is this: If you do not like the item, you may return it, no questions asked, and I will even pay return shipping.

I have never had anyone actually request to return something. Of course, I sell antiques which is a different world than some items on eBay.

The reason I believe that a new party is preferable is that it wouldn't have the "ick" factor in the public's subconscience built over years of MSM, Hollywood, and public school brainwashing.

IMO, any effort to start a new party will meet the same fate that the Tea Party did: they'll all be labeled "EXTREEEEMIST!!!11" or racist or some such bullshit.

If the grand poobahs of the GOP had balls to actually refute the Leftard lies, a new party wouldn't be needed. Well, that plus they'd have to stand for something besides slow-motion Marxism.

327 I am actually offering a 30 day return on the item. The picture I took is a high-resolution picture. Click on it and see everything. Even the scuffs from being in a parts bin. But no, they have to ask what's the condition. Why is it like this and not this? Are those plastic or metal?

I am stopping myself from asking them. 'Do you want me to mail them to you for inspection?'

There's also the matter of that settlement from the 1980s, where the RNC agreed not to contest Democrat vote fraud in minority areas. That's the reason why we never hear a peep out of them.

A new party won't be bound by that agreement.

Could probably get better $ on the ouch items if I got them out there but setting up the eBay thing on the phone would be hard on the phone for me (only used it once and that was to buy) and contacted the eBay store a few years ago and using them seemed too expensive.
Any suggestions?

Obama’s legislative agenda instead of reelection.
Vic at February 16, 2013 08:12 AM

It looks like there has been an invasion of well organized, professional trolls over at National Review Online (probably other sites also), so I'm wondering if Obama's paid campaign staff is now drawing salary from Organizing for Action and getting paid to smother conservative websites with Obama's arguments for his legislative agenda.

Has goproud changed? Or, are they still the same assholes who out conservatives they don't like, bad mouth others, and are run by a guy who claims he is a conservative but worked as a lobbyist for PP? Hell, they even lost breitbart who was the most inclusive con around.

345 #327 Oh, my, Anna, you have a real doozy. I once had a customer who bought cutter tablecloths (those with holes suitable only for crafts) and then complained that the holes were too big, and would not send them back as it was too much trouble. Knowing eBay as I do, I gave her a full refund and she STILL threatened to give me bad feedback and turn me in for postal fraud!!

Sometimes people are just crazy. Maybe someone else will buy your item before the nutso decides to.

Those guys at BlackFive remind me of the VFW guys who denied entry to their organization to Vietnam vets. Vietnam wasn't a "Foreign War", it was a "police action".
And the whining about the Bronze Star!!! Groundpounders only!
How many Army army lives were saved by Navy fliers off jeep carriers during the Battle off Samar? Those fliers turned around the Japanese battle fleet that would have murdered those Army men on the beachheadat Leyte. But being fliers, they were not eligible for the Bronze Star. And yet Army A-holes like Gray Davis and John Kerry got them???
It seems to me there were two guys in Benghazi who lit up the enemy mortar position because they expected to be saved by a drone pilot. Bitching about recognizing guys who save your bacon seems like looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I see what you are saying, but Kerry was Navy...

And Andy, if you are still out there (I know this thread is more or less done), I am aware of the origin of the term "smart military blog." My point was, there ARE people who occupy "smart military blogs" who resent this place, precisely because there are people like me who don't have time for them.

Yes, some of them have good people doing good work, but there is a bit of an elitist attitude out there among some of their patrons.

If that doesn't apply to you, so be it, but surely you know it does exist. And the statement that I NEED to be reading those sites is a bit over-demanding.

352 When I was a butterbar--Infantry--senior noncoms would stand around talking loudly about one thing or another--mostly Vietnam to which most of us were going to go. They pretended to be talking to each other and I pretended not to be listening.
Can't say I got that advice from my father whose noncoms had no more combat experience--1944--than he did. But the wisdom of the sergeants surpasseth all understanding, as long as the officer remembers he's responsible for the results.

353 What you want to bet sheik ubama gives hisself one of those 'non-combat' medals? And his will be covered in frenchticklers, roostercombs, mandrillasses, and ivy. That will make his more special than those awarded to 'actual' military personnel who took an oath and live it every day.

As a long term moron (10+ yrs!) getting ready to retire after 25 yrs in the AF, I say thank your mom for letting little bro go into the military.

Keep your head down.
Learn to relish the glory of the unspoken thought.

357 When I finished OCS, we got up on The Day, expecting to be commissioned at a ceremony we'd rehearsed and which was scheduled for early afternoon.
First thing after breakfast, we were assembled in a classroom. A major had us stand and take an oath. ??? Turns out that commissioned us.When we left the building, the cadre Top, Arthur J. V. O'Connell--multiple stars on his CIB and jump wings--formed us up and called us to attention. We were sleepy and confused. He saluted us, called for hand salute, "to", dropped his, and had the company clerk pass among us with a box.
We loved the old fart.
