| Biden: Our Gun Control Plan Isn't Going to Reduce Mass Shootings, and Isn't Even Guaranteed to Reduce Shooting Deaths by a Thousand Per YearThis isn't new news; it dates from February 1. But very little of last nights State of the Union was new, either (although I think Obama did add "self-healing electrical grids" to his laundry list). So as Obama's speech was recylced, as it always is, Joe Biden's words from a couple of weeks ago are still relevant.Comments1

No "gun control" law will save "even one life." It may mean the killer has to use a crossbow (or a longbow, or a flying squid) to kill, but it won't save people's lives.

Exactly. "Had." And it's not just actually dangerous rides/toys. Remember the spring horses (not always horses, of course, but animals mounted on a post and spring so you could "ride" back and forth on them)? Yeah, you don't find those anymore, either. If liberals had their way, we would never leave our homes, except to go to the Certified Organic, Locally Produced Farmers' Market, or to school. Some outlets are reporting that the police started the fire on pupose to
burn him out. This coupled with the early shootings by policeof the newspaper women and the surfer tells me this was a planned execution from the beginning. Interesting approach by law enforcement. The radio communications make it obvious that the police did intentionally set the fire. That doesn't mean it was an execution. Why would they go into the cabin where Dorner has the advantage? He could have chosen to exit the cabin with his hands raised. If they had shot him at that point, sure, execution. Regarding the police shooting the newspaper delivery women and the ramming of the surfer, that was insane. It is a far better point of evidence that some police never wanted to take Dorner alive. Carbon Tax bill coming Thursday to Senate
Under the legislation, a fee on carbon pollution emissions would fund historic investments in energy efficiency and sustainable energy technologies such as wind, solar, geothermal and biomass. The proposal also would provide rebates to consumers to offset any efforts by oil, coal or gas companies to raise prices. * * * This isn't socialism, amigos. This here is straight up fascism. I read that as Crunchy Frog. (Mr. Milton describes the sweetmeat as using only the finest baby frogs, which are dew-picked and flown from Iraq, cleansed in finest-quality spring water, lightly killed, and then sealed in a succulent Swiss quintuple smooth treble cream milk chocolate envelope and lovingly frosted with glucose. The bones are left in deliberately due to circular reasoning: "If we took the bones out, it wouldn't be crunchy, would it?") Ah....Monty Python! One danger of the corruption of the courts is that it's plain for police to see that the bad guys are getting too many indulgences. If they know for certain that some little gang-banger has killed again, and is likely to get another slap on the wrist, I can see them calculating that it's better just to kill them in a "shootout". The problem is that is a very long step down the road to lawlessness and tyranny.
Obama has made the same calculation, and has decided it's easier to just kill them. It's simpler legally to kill rather than to try to keep them (Guantanamo), or investigate them (water-boarding). Posted by: bonhomme at February 13, 2013 02:51 PM (3pWxn) 165

Maybe the police killed Dorner. Maybe they would have killed him if he surrendered. I'll never know. Right now the story seems to be they set the fire to get him to leave the cabin, a much safer plan than going in after him. Dorner then chose to shoot himself.
Was this a Waco or a Ruby Ridge? I don't think so. Dorner had plenty of time and space to air his grievances. He didn't have any testimony more compelling than his training officer kicking a disabled man. Weak sauce like that doesn't merit an assassination. I think the official story is much more compelling. Dude was shifty and blamed his representative for his firing. He went off his nut and starting killing people for revenge. Regarding whether burning people out of their homes is one of the police's contingency plan for dealing with conservatives. I'm not ready to believe that's anywhere close to a sizable plurality at this point. Posted by: bonhomme at February 13, 2013 03:02 PM (JbocP) 172
"Right now the story seems to be they set the fire to get him to leave the cabin, a much safer plan than going in after him. "
It's also much safer to shoot random vehicles and pedestrians, just in case they're your suspect. I don't want police officers to die needlessly. But I'm not interested in burning people to death because it's "safer" for cops. Posted by: GalosGann at February 13, 2013 04:12 PM (T3KlW) Processing 0.02, elapsed 0.0338 seconds. |
