Media Consistently Awards Free Passes to High-Status Men Who Abuse Women

Why, you'd almost think they were putting Status ahead of Principle or somethihg.

What do you call a low-income man who smashes a woman with a baseball bat and hospitalizes her? Felon.

What do you call a high-profile, high-income man who does the same? Oscar Darling Sean Penn.

Gossip outlets in recent months have speculated about the possibility of another celebrity reunion—Sean Penn and Madonna. Most of the coverage, interestingly enough, has glossed over Penn’s violent, abusive behavior while the “Poison Penns” were married. Once, Madonna was hospitalized after Penn struck her with a baseball bat. He was charged with domestic assault in 1988 and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. The two divorced a year later.

Afflict the comfortable? Ha-ha. The media is a bunch of celebrity-worshipping Tweener girls. Why, it's almost like they're edgy, counter-cultural SNL writers or something.

Headline Fixed: I blew the whole point-- the media awards free passes to high-status men who abuse women. Not all men.

Men they hope to meet a Conde Nast party.

from Yahoo news / LA Times or something like that:

[Updated at 2:40 p.m. PT]

Disgruntled former L.A. police officer Christopher Dorner is reportedly barricaded in a mountain cabin after shooting two officers during a gun battle this afternoon, according to the San Bernadino County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities have the cabin surrounded near Big Bear Lake, which is about 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Dozens of SWAT officers have been sent to the scene.

An unidentified source told the the L.A. Times that the shooting occurred after Dorner burglarized a home, tied up a couple and stole their car. A spokeswoman with the San Bernadino Sheriff's Office said that two officers were being transported via air ambulance. Their conditions were not known.

"Suspect is pinned down next to the shooting scene," a San Bernadino dispatcher said over a police radio channel. "Marshals have a positive ID and visual of the suspect."

If only Dorner impregnated a co-ed then drove her off a bridge and left her to drown. He'd be a left-wing hero.

Not that he isn't one now.

--Goodfellas sucked too.

One that DeNiro made that I still like is A Bronx Tale. I love it when he tells his son that if the girl doesn't unlock his door after he lets her in the car she's a selfish bitch and he should lose her right away.

Get out! Liked Michael Penn and wondered why he never produced more music. His music is big in the Muzak played in stores, was just recently humming along to "Romeo in Black Jeans"

yeah, JJ, Charles Grodin once remarked how funny it was that Deniro got all the tough guy roles and he was always cast as the wimpy guy

Grodin said that in real life he grew up in the mean streets, whereas Deniro grew up the suburbs.

120 re 103: did you ever see the movie he did with Meryl Streep? Very good movie, at least if you want an empty theater for an unobserved BJ (ok, back to Penn and Madonna.)

"Deer Hunter" or whatever it was called was pretty good, if I recall correctly from the days before I gave up Gallo Sherry for vodka. And no Howard Stern fan will ever forget that uproarious laughter in the theater from "Cape Fear"

135 Excerpt from Rand Paul's TP response:

"Both parties have been guilty of spending too much, of protecting their sacred cows, of backroom deals in which everyone up here wins, but every taxpayer loses. It is time for a new bipartisan consensus. It is time Democrats admit that not every dollar spent on domestic programs is sacred. And it is time Republicans realize that military spending is not immune to waste and fraud."

145 Not to pick nits but there hasn't been anything counter-cultural about Saturday Night Live in a long, long time Ace. The writers on that show are as conformist as they come and wholeheartedly support the status quo.

The right is counter-cultural now. I think that is a point you have made yourself since the left owns the culture.

149 "He was charged with domestic assault in 1988 and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor."

Doesn't that make Penn a "prohibited person" and his shotgun wielding antics in post-Katrina NOLA some kind of felony or something?. I also seem to recall something about a"licensed handgun" left in his car which got stolen (or sump'n like that). Howz that shit work?
