11 Just watched the video of the Doctor at the prayer breakfast. It's a really sad commentary on the idiocy of the current political process when a speech made up of plain spoken common sense thought is hailed as genius. I applaud and agree with alot the doctor said. Sounded like something my grandparents would have recommended. No wonder the "unwashed masses" have hailed this guy. Clearly he needs to be denounced and ridiculed. Racist.

19 Just checking in from stately Poppins Manor, where the f'ng plows have blocked my driveway up AGAIN! It's a damned good thing I don't have a gun.

Anyway – we got about 20-30 inches of snow here, probably. It’s hard to get a real measurement, since the drifts blew snow sometimes as high as the windows. But it was a Mooch’s butt-load of snow, regardless. And as I say, I can hear the plows blocking everything up again, so I’ve got to saddle up, slap on the Ben-Gay and go back out so Mrs P can get to rehearsal.

I hope the rest of you NE Morons came through safely. Since I’m here, how about a quick story?

Chaplin’s second wife, Lita Grey, was only 16 when the 35-year old Little Trap married her (as I’ve noted before, he had a yen for young flesh). The two divorced two years later, and Chaplin had to pay a settlement of almost $500K, which was a record at the time.

Anyway, that Chaplin liked young girls was a Hollywood insider’s joke. The story goes that, at an early WAMPAS Baby Stars show*, a young child no more than five got on stage to do a little routine. “Who’s the kid?” one exhibitor asked.

His friend looked up from his program. “Don’t know. Must be Charlie Chaplin’s next wife.”

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

*The Western Association of Movie Picture Advertisers, a trade group which, from 1922 to 1934, produced a show promoting “baby stars,” the actresses they felt were on the brink of stardom.

24 Something that drives me crazy JJ is that the political consultant class just don't seem to get it. Plain spoken policy speeches work. Reagan was able to reach people because he spoke to people in plain language. Think back to any economic speech Romney gave during the campaign. How many times did he use the term entreprenuer? Hell I probably misspelled the word. The point is people don't use that word in every day language. If you want to reach people speak to them in the language they use. If you think taxes are a hindrance to business developmment, you ask people if they want to pay more taxes. This shit ain't hard. Entreprenuers? WTF? Who talks like that? Outside of economics geeks-NO FREAKING BODY!

Here's some details about the second vehicle the LAPD threw a bullet party for in their frenzied manhunt:

David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work Thursday morning when police flagged him down. They asked who he was and where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue's attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser slammed into his pickup. When the vehicles collided, Perdue's air bag went off, blocking the view of the driver, and one officer fired three rounds; none of the bullets struck Perdue.

His pickup, police later explained, matched the description of the one belonging to Christopher Jordan Dorner — the ex-cop who has evaded authorities after allegedly killing three and wounding two more. But the pickups were different makes and colors. And Perdue looks nothing like Dorner: He's several inches shorter and about a hundred pounds lighter. And Perdue is white; Dorner is black.

The Torrance police chief apologized to Perdue and offered him a rental car and payment for his medical expenses.

LATimes

So they see he's not the guy, send him on, then still give him the pick and start blasting.

We're hosting a dozen of my in-laws today for brunch to celebrate my MiL's 81st birthday. The missus' family is Lithuanian, so yesterday we made farmer's cheese using a press that had been in her family for three generations. I've volunteered to make potato pancakes while the missus makes a potato / onion / bacon / cheese dish called "kugelis". There'll be a lot of potato peeling by yours truly starting an hour from now.

The only downside to this is that our idiot DiL will be coming over. The shallow and self-absorbed twit was seeking sympathy in her Facebook echo chamber yesterday, whining that no matter what BMI and medical practitioners say, she's not "obese".

Um, yes, you are, and stupid, too. Why don't you try working on changing both? (Words that must never cross my lips in DiL's presence or she'll stage a histrionic meltdown for which I'd catch hell.) I cannot fathom what our son sees in her...

The man explained conservative tax principles and healthcare in under one minute, clearly, concisely and passionately. In other Socal Police rampage news:

In what some are calling a clear case of police harassment a new video captures a San Bernardino police officer circling a lone woman in the desert in a helicopter before finally landing the chopper and forcing her through an unconstitutional search. The incident happened on January 24.

At the beginning of the video, Tiffany Jones, 33, narrates over footage of the helicopter, saying it has made several low passes to 'scare' her before it eventually lands. An unidentified officer from the San Bernardino Sherffi's office then approaches her, asking her name and for her purpose in the area. He then calls in her name and date of birth over the radio explaining to her only that 'We're investigating something right now.'

After police headquarters responds to his background check, he asks if Jones has any weapons. 'Don't put your hands in your pockets,' he says and then begins to search her.

As he goes through her belongings, the woman repeatedly repeats that she does not consent to a search but he ignores her and continues. 'I know you’re doing your job but I don’t consent to a search,' she says as he dismisses her and inspects her belongings. "That's fine, that's fine,' he says as he inspects her. After finding no reason to detain her and nothing illegal in her possession, the officer finally goes back to the helicopter telling her to 'have a good one.'

I just ended that conversation, you can't get anywhere with these people. It did not even occur to her that maybe her side ought not to savage people and destroy them when they want to get something done. No, it is the Republicans fault for not being able to stand up to venal Democrats.

I have only been out of the house twice in the past 10 days. I can truly say my life sucks big fat green donkey balls.

She's not entirely wrong. Our side has yet to embrace the tactics that it will take to destroy the stranglehold the left has on our country. Fuckheads like Boehner still think they can negotiate with those turds. Fuck that shit. They need to tell Debbie WashYourGash Shit to STFU in those exact words and not to waste time with their lying bullshit. And stop dragging Gabby Giffords around like an organ grander's monkey to advance her cocksucking husband's aspirations for office. The Republicans are wasting their fucking time consulting their Amy Vanderbilt and Emily Post guides for how to be a permanent minority party.

I had a problem with that shit a while back (I play basketball with a heel insert in one shoe because I servered my achilles tendon 12 years ago and it causes me to be unbalanced as far as the skeleton is concerned; that was the hypothesis on how it happened) and I was in misery for over a fucking month. It started as a severe backache that kept me from sleeping but eventually went down into one of my legs where it got *really* miserable for over a month. I couldn't walk more than 20 yards without my leg just feeling dead with miserable pain. Physical therapy is what eventually cured it. Even today I'll feel it coming on and do some exercises to make it go away.

The Democrats can get away with being nasty bastards because the Media will cover their asses six ways to Sunday. MSNBC is a non-stop denunciation of Republicans and howevil they are.

We have to be smarter than the Democrats, which actually shouldn't be THAT much of a problem, but not with the crew in office right now. We are led by imbeciles because that is the mean IQ of the voting public, either Right or Left.

When I think of how that paste-eating bumblehead Biden acted in the VP debates and got away with it, I realize how truly screwed we all are by the Media.

212 jewells, be sure to mention to the doctor the possibility of a sciatic nerve problem because your problem sounds very similar to what I went through. When I first went to the doctor she thought it was bursitis in my hip because it hadn't gone into my leg and was just centered in my lower back. I didn't blame her at the time because based on the symptoms, it was a reasonable diagnosis. But it was after that that the pain became *really* bad which your description sounds basically identical.

OK, LAPD corruption true. But doesn't this create the catch-22 of "if you go proving everything he said was right, all you do is tell someone 'go on a killing spree if you ever want to draw attention to your cause.'"I see a problem there. Jewells45, I'm just catching up on comments. Sorry to hear about your problem.
To give you hope, though, I had a back problem last summer and ended up with a good result. The problem occurred after I started exercising a little too strenuously last spring. I ended up with a bulging disc in my lower back. The pain got progressively worse. The bulging disc caused a sciatic nerve problem in my right leg. I got to a point where after I walked about half a block, my right knee felt like somebody stabbed it and twisted the blade.
Finally, my doctor recommended an MRI and I ended getting a hydrocodone injection in my lower back that didn't hurt a bit. After two weeks, I was pain-free. And after 7 months, I still feel fine.
A co-worker had the same problem about the same time, and found a chiropractor that fixed her up.
So take heart, back pain can be cured.

The point is you make the case about his actions and then you execute him, California's failure to kill him will be damnable if/when convicted but you use him to expose the dirty machine and then retire him through law.
None of this is about 'him being right" or "justified" it is about another baby step along the road to mainstreaming the police state we're becoming. You'll recall I've said for a long time if there ever is civil unrest the RoE here will be worse than what we allow the military to use against radical Islam?

The intrinsic problem is that I don't think he cares whether or not he's justified or right. Reading the coherent parts of the manifesto it seems he's OK with dying*for his "cause" so that makes it an applicable course of action. We don't want to create a precedent that encourages that.

We should be having a conversation about the media's involvement in perpetuating these crimes through constant reporting of them. I'm not sure how exactly you fix it, but we need to.
Granted it pre-dates the Cable news network (and even the MFM). I think you could look at a previous case (like the Zodiac Killer) and see how media attention created a cyclical self feeding cycle.

*It's not even really "dying for one's cause" in the normal sense. The normal sense brings to mind heroic actions and being fed to the lions and the like. There's not really a word for this that I can think of. "Being cast a murder for his cause" perhaps. IMHO the only thing that separates this fucker from as suicide bomber is that he's figured out how to stretch the terror over a longer period of time without recruiting more morons to join him.

284 Flying squids?

Little known fact- the word squid comes from the Old English word 'squeed' or variably 'squeet', meaning a "clay-based flying aquatic bird". Down through the ages this has given us such rich words in the modern idiom as "squid", "squab" (a.k.a. pigeon), "scoot" and also "skeet".

Hence- at Camp David "we shoot squids all the time".

Paraphrasing what he said he said:This wasn't an act of civil disobedience designed to draw attention to the law (through your own punishment, much like the civil rights era actions.) Rather this was an attempt to make the law unenforceable by a matter of brute force.(Again, not a quote a paraphrasing, I can't find the quote right now.)I agree, in full. These hackers are anarchists. Because they live in a digital world where the consequences of anarchy go unrealized. (It's easy to advocate for a dog eat dog world in a protected house that isolates you from your actions.)The problem is that the argument is being won by people equating "conservatism' with "corporatism." Example: I think generally speaking as defined in the constitution copyright is a good thing.I think what Disney has done to it is horrendous. I'd like to move to a more liberal (as in "Free") system with shorter terms and a broad fair use clause. However, for the most part I'm not open to the idea of "free sharing" for "non-commercial" uses because I think this is a greedy "gimme my free movies" load of fucking crap.Apparently, according to my wannabe hacker friends, this makes me a "corporatist." With their big hack of the Fed last week, they got the contact names and numbers of regional bank managers and not much else of value. It's like the thugs who break into a house and steal the TV and jewelry but leave a million dollar art piece alone. They know how to break in, but not what they're looking at once they get inside

They also talk to much for someone committing felonies, and tend to trust people "who talk like us"

Since they're not exactly scary people once they step away from their computers, they rat each other out once they get pinched

315 Too many LE agencies are self-interested groups who seem to serve only themselves. For instance, take the behavior of police with the Madison protests who sided with the public unions

While some LE agencies are honest and have sworn to uphold the Constitution if ordered by the Feds to do otherwise, I'm more than a little concerned that many will kill opponents of those in power and not lose any sleep over it

If you really want to put on your conspiracy hat:

Obama Regime "walks" thousands of guns to the Sinola cartel in Mexico, which could give them a tactical advantage over the other cartels, for a while.

Obama Chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel is elected Mayor of Chicago, and gang related (drug related) violence goes UP. (unexpected)

Obama campaign disables credit card check for contributions in 2008 campaign and later in 2012 campaign. Could someone be paying them off surrepetously?

Amnesty is coming!
The border moved, Mexicans were wronged!

317 315 KBDaBear,

with asset forfeiture now being established precedent even on a simple level LE has a split mission add in the corrupting potential of one party rule en perpetual and the temptation becomes overwhelming.

LAPD was caught engaging in a raid based on specious data that is proven at least to thwe circumstantial level to kill an elderly man for his real estate...

this is horrifying to ANYONE who recalls 1980s common understanding of the role of law.

I've grown to believe there's no difference between today's DOJ and the mob except the DOJ is sanctioned by the state. Otherwise, they're very similar. I'm sure they cooperate with each other far more than what's generally acknowledged.

The movie "Casino" had a great sequence that showed that government is little more than "legitimate" organized crime.

The recent discovery of Richard III's remains led to discussion about the War of the Roses in late 15th century England. Looking at the rival families fighting each other for power and control, it's hard not to see it as a glorified version of the Crips and Bloods, or the Mexican drug cartels.

319 This is pretty much the exact same M.O. as that of flying fish. Great
example of convergent evolution, which is the principle that unrelated
groups can develop similar traits in response to their environment.

Dude, way ahead of you.

First thing in my head when I heard the government was taking over. After all, we've got an extra trillion or two lying around in the sofa cushions, don't we?

Related: There is a push in NC to limit state spending on worthless BS degrees like gender studies. The usual parasites are complaining. What? You expect us to actually earn money with this?

I was expecting Ogabe to do it before the election. I thought that might be his October Surprise.

I guess he didn't think he needed it. Maybe he's looking ahead to his third term.

326 Anna, when will your book be ready for release?

Posted by: EC at February 10, 2013 11:59 AM (doBIb)

327 (((HUGS))) I must confess I can't recall what your doc has found or ruled out with your back and I've been lucky and only get mild back pain from muscle issues and found stretches that address that.

Have you tried capsaicin patches? Will do nothing for any underlying issue but it is a pretty good agent to numb nerves. TENS or other electrical stimulation is also very helpful to folks I know with back pain.

Don't be afraid to tell your Dr. that you need to find non-zombifying pain relief now and cant wait for a sure diagnosis to start getting your life back.

331 There is NO chance that any SoCal PD is going to arrest Dorner just so that an 'urban' jury will pull an OJ and cut his sorry ass loose. He will either end up in Venezuela or surrendering to Al Sharpton in front of MSDNC cameras. Any other action is a fast trip to the compost heap.
