The Perils Of Intranational Turmoil

We still have national enemies. And they are watching our polarized state, and looking to press on the divisions, break us open where we're cracking, find ways to spark the tinderbox that is our national politics.

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – A federal terrorism task force arrested a man they said intended to detonate a car bomb in front of an Oakland bank in the hopes of sparking a civil war by making the bomb blast appear to be the work of anti-government “militias.”

He was hoping to go to Afghanistan and join the Taliban. I'll leave it to you, dear Morons, to elucidate why he seemed to know there would be no profit in pinning his villainy on (currently pro-government) lefties.

Why, you would almost think that the establishment was of the Left; and that it was slavering over the prospect of a general crackdown against conservatives, and that this mutant had somehow sensed that current in the zeitgeist.

And if he sensed it, then how long do we have before framing 'militias' becomes a fashion?

It goes without saying, the debt we all owe to the FBI, and everybody else who is standing on that wall.

Thanks to Sobek.

About negative 5 years.

"A federal agent testified Monday that the founder of a Georgia militia group was not present when alleged pipe-bomb components were buried on his property (by a federal informant) , and the agent admitted that he did not know for sure whether Robert Edward Starr III was aware the materials were there."

Google the conviction.

40 A couple of observations: seems to me the Llaneza guy is a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Wouldn't the normal paranoid loner be kind of suspicious of a Taliban-buddy that could just magically procure explosives, detonators, an SUV and a storage unit? Looks like the FBI plant pretty much did all the grunt work for him, leaving him only enough "decisions" to make a conspiracy charge stick.

I sort of wonder if it's not a misallocation of resources for the cops to spend so much effort "helping" those no-hoper loners to realize their evil plans, perhaps at the expense of monitoring known groups that may indeed have the capability?

And I don't think the typical Zero-Hedge reader would cheer on such an assault against a bank, since most of them figure the banking system is going to implode, anyway.

91 The trajectory to all this is too clear. The Left isn't going to stop in its schemes at the highest level and its slanders at every level. They are a massive, driven and unified movement bent on totalitarian power at any cost. No current member of the GOP understands this, or understands the Left. The new media lacks the reach and influence yet to make a difference, that is, to arrest or reverse the terrible momentum and treachery of the Left. What else but war is possible?

Heh- saw a local TV news report out of SoCal today, quoting the San Bernardino Sheriff as saying when they found Dorner's truck that there were footprints in the snow near the truck that "did not lead in any specific direction." I had two thoughts.

#1- If you look at a footprint, there is a heel and a toe, and the toe would seem to indicate a specific direction

#B- If the footprints didn't lead in a specific direction, would that indicate the suspect was walking in a circle, at which point they could easily apprehend him within that circle.

the whites failed because it was a combined force of Tsarists, and SRs...

there was a peaceful civil war in March of '17 that led to dual government....

The Duma was dominated by the SRs BUT the communists decided in Red October that they would take total power wherever able at the State level and that led to the shooting war in the Red/White starting in '18 on a massive scale....

the Petrograd Soviet's battle was quite hot in the interim.

Iron Felix was captured by the SRs and Lenin speaking to Dzerzhinski on the phone was told by Felix "kill all these people don't worry about me."

The SRs blinked.

This is exactly what the MFM has been trying to do since time immemorial. That's why every single event of mass destruction or violence is immediately the fault of some "right wing extremist," before the truth of the matter is actually known. If they just keep pretending the right is to blame for every bad thing that happens, eventually someone on the right WILL do something bad; in any large group, there's always one wacko. But the MFM won't view it like that, nor report it like that. They'll report it as a right-wing extremist, emblematic of all conservatives, did something terrible, which is "proof" that conservatives are evil. All they have to do is bide their time.

It's a numbers game, and they've rigged the machine.

Yeah but you do pick up on skills and get opportunities to absorb knowledge.

My uncle was a small motor boat repairman in the USN in 'nam....

he was not "combat hot" nonstop BUT he was wounded on one of his maybe ~10 missions he went out into indian country by a 13 year old with an SKS....

He could NOT use the twin MGs on a kid the kid acted like he was gonna go back under and then snapshot him through the elbow....

if the guy was even in a support capacity with the Naval Warfare group or Riverines he may have gotten SERE school and had ample opportunity to get specialized training at the initial entry level of briefing without too much practical lab woork at the skills and doctrine.

Hard telling...you'd need his 2-1 to know what his certs are.

------------

"I'll leave it to you, dear Morons, to elucidate why he seemed to know

---------------

Pinning this
on the leftists in this country would make it look just like any other
politically-motivated bank bombing. The left wing media would downplay
it, whitewashing the leftist bit, and right-thinking people would just
think it was some Occupy loon. Everyone forgets about it the next day.

Pin
it on a militia and it stirs up more gun-grabbing, anti-conservative
talk. It's by design that the terrorists are trying to neutralize the
right. We're the only ones who have their number pegged.

I wonder if he still maintains discreet contact with any former cronies in the LAPD, cronies that may share the same flavor of crazy, but not so overtly? He might be getting intelligence from them.

What would really cement Dorner's status as a folk hero in Leftist circles would be him successfully identifying, tracking down, and murdering the stupid cops who shot up innocent motorists who had the misfortune of owning vehicles that kinda-sorta resembled Dorner's ride. 202 The mountains were the focus of Friday’s search effort because police had found Dorner’s burned-out pickup truck a day earlier near the resort community.

The truck had a broken axle, which would have prevented the vehicle from moving, and footprints appear to show that Dorner doubled back into the community, said a source with knowledge of the investigation.

It was unclear where Dorner may have gone from there or by what means, the source said.

But Bachman told reporters Friday: “The possibility exists that he is here, somewhere in the forest, so we’re going to keep looking…until we determine that he’s not here.”

Guns found in the truck were also burned, but authorities believe Dorner may have as many as 30 guns with him, the source said. Dorner was in the Navy and is trained in counterinsurgency and intelligence, the source said.

Two inches of snow Friday coated the mountaintop pine trees and roads around Big Bear Lake, leading motorists to use tire chains. Up to six more inches were expected. But the snow was regarded as a godsend because tracking a man on the run would be easier, authorities said.

232 This Dorner dude has just written himself into a movie script.

And it ain't High Sierra? This certainly (sorry, soitanly!) opens a new avenue of National Discussion of Hollywood's role in our tragic.epidemic.of.violence.

Like Schwarzenegger just called Stallone and said "Suit up"? If those 10,000 cops would just STFD, my money would still be on Chuck Norris.

Film a 11? Don't count on it.

238 well, Donner went up into the woods, ostensibly to
hide for a bit- but his truck crapped out on him and he had to set out
on foot. Then it started snowing up there. So he's on foot with
(supposedly) a shitload of guns and ammo. So- he needs a vehicle,
because that shit is heavy, more so in the snow. He either has to steal
one or somehow get another. This makes me think he has help.

I think the disabled truck at Big Bear is a diversion, pure and simple. Hide a big, black guy in a rural area that probably has few black guys of any stature? Not easy. Hide a big black guy in a district like Watts, where there is probably a certain amount of support for his cause? Easy.

At first it was thought that he might have been there because of the big "Uniform Day" events taking place there. Now I do wonder if it was a distraction and he high-tailed it out of there while they were all checking out the truck.

If so, it means he's not dumb, and could be one step ahead of them for a while.

265 The burned-up pickup truck had a broken axle. Maybe it was a plant. Under most circumstances that would mean it was towed in.

Have they got a drone on this guy yet, and if not why not? Whole thing could be a counter-Benghazi for double-oh nothin's right to kill anyone anywhere. Also, if he does not have a chip in his ass to match the one on his shoulder, somebody missed a lick in his extensive SERE and COIN portfolio. What are we, new at this?

If the guy was smart enough, and if he left the truck at Big Bear as a diversion, it would be easy enough to deliberately break an axle, or a drive shaft. Leave it in two-wheel drive, get it planted in a snowbank, and get one rear wheel spinning at an indicated 90 MPH on the speedo. Slam into reverse. Rinse and repeat. Sooner or later, something vital will break. Result: convincing breakdown to support the notion he's nearby and on foot.

Something else strangle. His camo uniform shows him a Navy LT or an Army captain.

How the fuck did he make that rank? Was he ROTC, OCS or is that his LAPD camo and he was a captain in the LAPD?

Doesn't add up. See @261 link http://is.gd/854umX

Posted by: Billy Bob, Pseudo Intellectual at February 09, 2013 01:50 PM (wR+pz)

272 271 Billy bob,

He was a navy LT which is O-3 Captain in the other branches.....he could have done the USN's version of green to gold....we'd need to see his DD-214 and 2-1 to know how he got up there....

He's 33 years old or so....

that's old for a captain unless he went green to gold late.

He was part of an MIUSW support group whose mission profile includes force protection profile actio including logistics, port security, and establishing beachhead operations....

which leads me to believe....

he is at least of averageish competence and has the Coin training he was bragging on...

hell this is the guy who was working in an S-3 tasked with winnowing out likely threat profiles to port operations I'd bet.

Yeah I REALLY want to see his jacket now.

Posted by: sven10077 at February 09, 2013 01:55 PM (LRFds)

273 "If the guy was smart enough, and if he left the truck at Big Bear as a
diversion, it would be easy enough to deliberately break an axle, or a

More likely he broke the truck axle while en route to his vehicle swap point. No plan ever quite goes perfectly. He would then have packed out what he could carry and scuttled what he had to leave behind.

If he is still alive, most likely he is back in LA in a prepared safe house. If not, they will another abandoned vehicle not far from the truck and his body somewhere between the two vehicles.

Those assault weapon/high-capacity magazine laws sure are working good to keep us safe, aren't they? Maybe if they tried analyzing criminals instead of hunks of metal...? But that would mean doing real work, and gun control laws are the preferred choice of lazy governments - much better than actually investigating motives and intentions or being responsible for making judgement calls.
