Good Piece on SPLC's Pet Assassin

Oh, is it unfair to call Floyd Corkins the SPLC's Pet Assassin?

I suppose I'd be more interested in fairness if the SPLC itself didn't engage in precisely this tactic.

The point here isn’t that the SPLC is to blame for what Corkins did, the point is that hysteria about incitement runs only one way in major media, with virtually no coherent explanation apart from raw partisan advantage. To believe (erroneously) that Palin’s map inspired Loughner but that the SPLC’s “hate map” didn’t inspire Corkins, you have to presume to read two incomprehensibly scrambled minds and conclude that the use of a symbol in a metaphorical context, rather than a blacklist devoted to shaming evil groups, is the tipping point for violent action. Why anyone would presume that, I don’t know; if we’re searching for catalysts to a rampage in a disturbed mind, there’s no obvious reason why demonizing someone by adding them to a “hate” list wouldn’t work just as well as, or better than, an electoral map that uses gun symbolism vis-a-vis defeating incumbents at the polls.

Funny thing, though: The SPLC itself was verrrrry quick to try to tie Jared Loughner to the “far right”, and kept at it long enough that they were posting speculative pieces about “political rhetoric” and its role in the Tucson shooting as late as 13 days after it occurred. Not only are they comfortable with a free-speech slippery slope when it’s right-wingers who are at risk, they’re willing and eager to add some grease.

They don't even bother to explain, of course. That is the privilege of the aristocracy: they don't have to explain themselves to anyone.

SPLC: Did Rightwing Internet Hate Cause Jared Loughner to Shoot People? They're quick to ask the question when it gets them donations.

Shoes on the other foot -- now asked if their own intemperate Otherizing language might be responsible for a crazed loser trying to kill people -- they refuse comment.

Since the citizenry are being reduced to serfs in every other salient respect, including being forbidden the exercise of arms.

Alex I'm not flaming you but "lawfare' requires us giving up another one of our cornerstones "judicial restraint and deference to precedent." 36 22 AlexTheChick,

You do get my point though yes ma'am?

I'm not sure society would survive two carnivorous parties anyway. The heavy patronage games were one of the fuels of 1860. The Democrats argued, and not without a LOT of justification, that the Whigs nee Republicans were as guilty of the Pork cannon as our modern democrats. Their insistence on wild tariffs felt like the north stealing from the south.

I'm reminded of something Keegan wrote in his forward to his latest work on the first world war, "and what would a Serbian veteran think looking out from 1913 at the modern remains of the former Yugoslavia.....'what has changed?'

Anyway just food for thought.

45 39 Hrothgar,

For lawfare to work we have to have ethical judges who use precedent without partisanship. I don't see any on the other side of the divide to take advantage of. The New left has made very certain to destroy ALL the ethical people of the old guard so we'd have to judge shop and I fear they control the flow of the river of the civil service supporting the courts.

The best way to increase probability of success would be to engage in counter revolution with ideologically based judges our own, and how long could *we* be trusted to show restraint from the temptation?

This is a very toxic stew we are playing in.

The answer is easy. We go all the way. Sure we might become the thing we are fighting. Lots of risks. But it should be clear they intend nothing less than the utter destruction of everything good, decent and worth a damn in the whole world. With that as the price of failing to stop them we can and must risk everything; because no monsters we accidentally unleash are likely to be worse than them. That insight clarifies things, in a final throwdown between Good and Evil you don't hold anything back. See WWII.

TOTAL WAR. TOTAL UNREMITTING, REMORSELESS AND MERCILESS WAR WITH NO QUARTER EXPECTED NOR GIVEN. NO HOLDS BARRED, NO TACTIC OUT OF BOUNDS IF THE ODDS OF GAINING YARDAGE JUSTIFIES IT.

Those are the rules they have been playing by for a hundred years now, the sooner we join the better the odds we survive. The day is late, time is growing short and we are on the brink of total destruction, if we are going to make a desperate last stand now would be a really good time to start.

The SLPC, like the rest of the loony left, knew Sarah Palin's 2010 "target map" of Giffords' congressional district had absolutely nothing to do with Loughner's murders (the planning for which had begun years before), but that didn't stop them from blaming Palin, the Tucson Tea Party, and Republican voters in general for Loughner's crazy actions.
