FRC Shooter Picked Up His List of Poltiical Targets to be Assassinated from the Southern Poverty Law Center Websites' List of "Hate Groups"

If a a legislative ban -- a restriction of freedom -- can save a single human life, we must take that action, no matter what the consequences.

A little more: the SLPC is a partner organization with the Justice Department. For "reducing hate."

And/or, sometimes inflaming someone to shoot some innocent citizens expressing their political opinions.

You know how Sarah Palin was responsible for inspiring Jared Loughner even though he wasn't a fan of hers and also wasn't even political (except he did believe in the left-wing Truther Conspiracy) but she was responsible for his actions because of a few words she once said?

Like how a single innocent thing she said became worse than the madman's shooting itself?

How the single innocent thing she said became, within 24 hours, the Real Reason for the madman's crimes?

Yes. Well. That doesn't apply here.

Because, that's why.

Correct:

SPLC is a hate group. They gin up fear in order to raise funds.

They are the perfect example of moral hazard. They profit off of perceived hate and fear.

28 Yesterday's news from Philippines is truly historic, and it raises questions about whether there might just be light at the end of the tunnel. What's important, however, is that we focus on what this means on the street. The media seems too caught up in dissecting the macro-level situation to pay attention to how their people are doing. Just call it missing the fields for the wheat.

When thinking about the ongoing troubles, it's important to remember three things: One, people don't behave like muppets, so attempts to treat them as such are a waste of time. Muppets never suddenly blow themselves up. Two, Philippines has spent decades as a dictatorship closed to the world, so a mindset of peace and stability will seem foreign and strange. And three, hope is an extraordinarily powerful idea: If authoritarianism is Philippines's glass ceiling, then hope is certainly its alarm clock.

When I was in Philippines last Summer, I was amazed by the variety of the local cuisine, and that tells me two things. It tells me that the citizens of Philippines have no shortage of potential entrepreneurs, and that is a good beginning to grow from. Second, it tells me that people in Philippines are just like people anywhere else on this flat earth of ours.

So what should we do about the chaos in Philippines? Well, it's easier to start with what we should not do. We should not lob a handful of cruise missiles and hope that some explosions will snap Philippines's leaders to attention. Beyond that, we need to be careful to nurture these first inklings of a moderate, modern society. The opportunity is there, but I worry that the path to stability is so strewn with obstacles that Philippines will have to move down it very slowly. And of course Manila needs to come to the table.

Speaking with a local farmer from the large orthodox community here, I asked her if there was any message that she wanted me to carry back home with me. She pondered for a second, and then smiled and said, won tin jin hao, which is a local saying that means roughly, "A bad penny always turns up."

I don't know what Philippines will be like a few years from now, but I do know that it will probably look very different from the country we see now, even if it remains true to its basic cultural heritage. I know this because, through all the disorder, the people still haven't lost sight of their dreams.

I have been questioning all the recent gun violence (being committed by what seems like people who would have just quietly killed just themselves at an earlier time). It's almost as if that big fat data base Obama collected for his re-election included this information: people who suffer from depression and are or have contemplated or attempted to commit suicide. 53 When Oklahoma City happened in 1995, I had NPR on in my office. Morris Dees pulled over to the side of the road and called his nearest NPR station on his car phone so he could be patched through to national and get the first licks in. For many (of the handful who listen to that "network") the first "news" they heard of the bombing was the Dees editorial message. And it was a heavy message -- he had it all figured out, and no one even had a firm theory of what had happened yet.

I made me suspicious, you might say. Nothing his organization has done since has done a thing to relieve that suspicion.

I have YET to see wholesale rejection of leftist thinking, even in the face of its well-documented failures, like the collapse of communism. Shame requires introspection; not a typical leftard skill.

The reason Alinsky's tactic of "make them play by their own rules" is effective, for THEM, is that we *have* rules, and the integrity to follow them.

90 You're talking about a demographic that depends on the daily denial of
reality, fact suppression and shouting down critics to maintain their
carefully constructed fantasy lives. I have YET to see wholesale
rejection of leftist thinking, even in the face of its well-documented
failures, like the collapse of communism. Shame requires introspection;
not a typical leftard skill.

Not to mention daily doses of taxpayer funded reality-denial pills.

164 The reason Alinsky's tactic of "make them play by their own rules" is effective, for THEM, is that we *have* rules, and the integrity to follow them.
----

There is a lot of truth there. I know people think we should play by the same rules as the left, but I don't want to. The All Means Necessary strategy doesn't work for conservatives, because our master is God. The left's master is Government. So anything that promotes government is good for them. They really have no shame. Conservatives live by a different creed.

Further, we conservatives have other outside interests. It is difficult to always be engaged on politics and the advancement of an ideology. Maybe this is to our detriment, but having jobs and raising kids gets in the way.

This is all very generalized of course. And we can certainly learn some tricks from the liberals. But we will never be able to use all the tricks they have at their disposal.

173 re: 'The reason Alinsky's tactic of "make them play by their own rules" is effective, for THEM, is that we *have* rules, and the integrity to follow them.'

That's nice, but it's not why. It's because they have the power (and desire) to make you, and you don't have any (and not much desire).

Cut and paste this: http://tinyurl.ms/yt4v

That's not a dude whose every angle I endorse, but he knows at least one side of the score. Nut quote, in case the link doesn't work:

The truth is that the weapons of "activism" are not weapons which the weak can use against the strong. They are weapons the strong can use against the weak. When the weak try to use them against the strong, the outcome is... well... suicidal.

I don't think cherrypicking some Alinsky is a bad idea. Some of his suggestions are for everybody--as are some of Lenin's, Mao's, and Hitler's. But Alinsky is for Them.

His two most prominent fans are the goddamn President and the woman who was going to be President if that guy fucked up and lost. That's not two flukes.

Further, we conservatives have other outside interests. It is difficult to always be engaged on politics and the advancement of an ideology. Maybe this is to our detriment, but having jobs and raising kids gets in the way.

There was a time when having jobs (secure ones, with the chance for advancement and a little security for retirement) and raising kids (not cis-normal kids, but real ones who played outside without helicopter parents freaking out every ten seconds) was the accepted norm in America.

We didn't really need to worry about politicians wanting to disarm us, or destroy our economy, or spy on us, or call veterans "terrorists" or wanting to fundamentally change us, our way of life or our government.

Simply start a campaign that she was so mean that even that nice guy, Dario Francetti, couldn't put up with her.

It's pretty easy to make her the villain in that deal. She was a real attention grabber at the Speedway plus she flaunted the rules. She even inserted herself into the ceremonies memorializing Dan Weldon.

She made a big deal about not having any children, even though Dario grew up Catholic.

She's a poisonous, high maintenance snake.

269 Sue. Sue immediately. Bankrupt SPLC for their role in motivating the shooter to commit murder. Win-Win. SPLC can either 1) lose and go bankrupt, 2) settle for no monetary damages if they admit that their is evil in the world and you cannot blame your political opponents for evil committed by the individual. Option 1 they cease to exist. Option 2 they admit that they're entire model of stoking fear is a sham and they undermine their very existence. Even if the FRC loses the lawsuit, what is the judge going to do other than rule that Option 2 prevails and SPLC can't be held liable. I'm sorry, that's not Win-Win. It's Win-Win-Win.

It's even worse than that. Loughner became obsessed with Gabby Giffords years before the 2011 shootings, after he attended one of her local meet-and-greets and Giffords said something to Loughner that he didn't like. Loughner wrote in his journal of his desire to kill Giffords years before Sarah Palin appeared on the national scene.

The only way Palin could have influenced Loughner's murderous thoughts is if Palin were a time traveler.

“After seeing this picture I just remembered this guy lived in the same barracks as me in 2007 in Camp Lejeune, N.C., he was definitely NOT a highly trained Marine he was a mechanic in for only about 4 years,” said the Marine.

“My friend deployed to Iraq with Eddie Routh and this guy never even went outside the wire, so the PTSD from combat as the news is saying is unlikely, and this guy was no highly trained Marine as they are also saying in the news,” he added.

The Marine also told us that Routh “was into drugs.”

he was a mechanic, he never saw combat, he never left base. He is a druggie who has been using PTSD as an excuse for his dysfunction, like a drug abuser would.

327 3 for the price of 1:

What a lot of Leftists have trouble understanding (and what some Leftists merely pretend to have trouble understanding) is that "hatred of haters" is still hatred, and actually does, in fact, make you a "hater."

Leftism is, to a certain extent, about nothing more than the maximization of hatred within society and the culture. The masses are most easily and efficiently mobilized by negative emotions, after all. Therefore, appeals to humanitarianism and empathy have largely fallen out of favor, in... um favor of the more aggressive, hatred-based, variant(s) of Leftism.

--

"If a a legislative ban -- a restriction of freedom -- can save a single human life, we must take that action, no matter what the consequences."

It strikes me that Leftism's implicit maxim is "Freedom is Death," as well as that slogan's pseudocorollary "Death is Freedom."

"A little more: the SLPC is a partner organization with the Justice Department. For "reducing hate.""

Separation of Agitprop and State? "Fuck you."

"And/or, sometimes inflaming someone to shoot some innocent citizens expressing their political opinions."

Thoughtcrime is real crime. Disagreement with previous proposition, thoughtcrime.

--

Using the word hate as a noun strikes my as Newspeakish (sic).

329 As my man and I have been trying to explain to stupid libtards (and it falls on deaf ears), just because someone abused a right - used free speech protections to incite riots, a gun to kill people - does not mean the rest of us don't have that right any longer.

So with the SPLC's abuse of the 1st Amendment, should no one else now have the right to free speech, or should SPLC be held accountable alone for their actions?

But this, as with all things, requires more thought than "GOP BAD! Ban them all!" (Although with Kasich's betrayal yesterday, maybe they have a point).

I love that the SPLC hate group can be connected to the shooter.

*starts daydream - if only conservatives on TV would now call the SPLC a hate group inspiring mass shooters - ends daydream*
-
TV conservatives are the kept opposition. They're the ones that the liberals who keep them feel comfortable with. That means they don't hit liberals effectively, and when liberals really want to lay the hurt on someone the kept conservatives make it a "consensus" position by saying, 'I'm conservative but that's unacceptable".

It's useless to hope for them to be effective and not sellouts. They draw salaries in effect for being ineffective and for being sellouts when it counts most, on the big, long-term issues like amnesty and mass immigration.

The ones that don't play along enough get booted, like Pat Buchanan, and the others notice where the lines are drawn.

If there were many jobs open for people to make good money being effective, defending important right wing positions even when they are unpopular and not pulling any punches, you'd see a lot more people doing that.

As it is, almost all effective right wing advocacy is done by groups who are off doing their own thing, like the NRA.

And of course, all serious efforts to move the Overton Window to the right are targeted as 'hate' by the SPLC, and not defended by 'conservatives'.
