We don't get this already from the Stepford Media? I suppose he means more of this.A second way [other than defeat] to demoralize conservative activists is to surround them with the echo chamber of our positions and assumptions. We need to make them feel that they are not mainstream, to make them feel isolated. We need to use the bandwagon effect in reverse...We must isolate them ideologically...I don't see this working, exactly. It hasn't worked yet, after all. I do think it does work in some ways, however. This sort of thing actually hardens the opinions of many dissenters. But that's a problem for dissenters -- we get a little gas-lit sometimes and sometimes begin making statements which are less about policy or politics and more about declaring ourselves unbowed and unbroken. Which, itself, is a good thing. The problem comes when we start treating such pithy, pungent declarations of independence for political messaging. I think a certain number of the more problematic statements we make come from this process -- the left surrounds us with its sulphuric spin, we begin shouting that we will not be bowed, we take one step too many in that aggressive declaration and the new spin becomes "Look what these Kooky Konservative Krackers have said now!!!" Ann Coulter and Andrew Breitbart (and Levin and Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin) wrote a lot, and said a lot, but their basic theme is pretty consistent throughout their writing: fuck you Which is a pretty damn important message, actually. Vulgarity aside, I think that just might be the most important political message. However, I do think we get gas-lit by the left, in the sense that, when it comes to political campaigns, we're so determined to say what needs to be said most of all -- "Fuck. You." -- that we overlook some of the other important things. The dummies in the middle don't understand the bracing liberation of telling the Power Establishment to go fuck itself. They're dumb, and they don't mind being ruled. So we wind up "not speaking" to these bozos. We sound like we've got some personal issues... which we do. We take having our bodies and our minds ruled quite personally. Alas, not everyone does.

Every time I see some cracker comment, I recall a campaign tv spot by Lawton Chiles, then Democrat Govenor of the Great State of Florida in which he was amblin' along a Florida country road and said something very close to "I'm just a Florida Cracker." He left the crazy part out.

i don't mean as far as tone, i mean that i don't think it's a good mentality. there's probably some discrete issues conservatives can appeal to the middle on. they aren't all dumb.

The problem is that markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent. Money is just another market, one that's been thoroughly mangled by the Fed.
There will be a reckoning and rates probably will rise but there's nothing that says it will happen in the next few years. Holding on to debt you have now, if you can service it comfortably, is fine. Going deeper into debt is just gambling.

Who (out of the GOP candidates) stood up to say anything about the real state of the economy during the campaign? Did anyone mention the real UE or inflation figures? Did anybody say anything about the real cause of the Housing Crash being the government forcing banks to issue loans to people they knew couldn't pay them back?

Eh, I think its the nature of each ideology. Liberals, or progressives being a better term, are way more content in a minority status. Between 2008 and 2010 they seemed very uncomfortable having all the control. On the flip side conservatives do not handle minority status well. (no I do not teach business- you really learn that by OJT) During my first day there I was approached by another newly hired History teacher who had just graduated from college. I'm a conservative centrist too. What allies are you talking about? I had some really good discussions with my Obama voting friends during the election, 20-30 somethings like me. I honestly think quite a few of the "dumb" young voters in my generation are libertarians that just don't realize it yet. They know medicare won't be there for them, and not to trust the government, and a lot even understand the need for getting our fiscal house in order, if you can believe it. But for them, social issues trump fiscal issues EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It is the bridge they can't cross, thus they cannot conceive of voting republican. I could not convince them that Romney would do no harm to our gay friends or their birth control, that his business credentials trumped Obama's flattering words. The media has done its job well, a little too well, in brainwashing them. I finally let 'er rip three weeks ago. Best man at our wedding. We paid for their children's college education. He told me "Benghazi didn't matter". After years of enduring Comedy Central politics and the soft gentle breeze of NPR, I just walloped him. He got the smug eyeroll, the smirk, the snotty body language, and I just blew.
This has completely destroyed our relationships with not just him, but an entire circle of left leaning low info voters that we used to party and play with for over a decade. Politics was never an issue until the coming of the One.
I don't know how I feel about this, exactly. Bad, sad, pissed, righteous, can't sleep. No way will I ever apologize.
The only redeeming feature is that I now know two things: 1) this is what it is like to stand your ground so you'd better have the stomach for it and 2) we're cut out of the party circuit. Oh well.

GOOD art is something we can argue about for days, because there is a lot of shit out there. The problem is a lot of theorists have taken the extremely open-ended definition to mean everything not only is art, but is inherently good.

We don't all of the facts about Kyle's killer but I will remain skeptical until we have good evidence and facts. I will not take the media's word for it as truth. Some people go into the military with mental problems and/or criminal tendencies. Some are functional and do well until some bad day trips them off. I don't want our leftist whores of the media writing this off as just another crazy ass vet who was traumatized by the military.
Maybe it was a case of PTSD from combat - maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was his truck he wanted and killing 2 men were worth it to him. Either way it's a tragedy.
