Obama: You Know What? I Think We Need Higher Taxes

I don't even know why I'm posting this.

President Barack Obama said there is “no doubt” the government needs new revenue from closing tax “loopholes” and limiting deductions, along with enacting spending cuts, to reduce the federal deficit.

There’s “no reason why we can’t have really strong growth in 2013,” the president said....

No reason, that is, except The One.

What was the exact quote he used during (at least one the) debates? Something like:

"When someone tells you I am going to raise taxes, they are lying to you!"

or

"When Gov Romney says I will raise your taxes, he is lying!"

I know there was something very direct like this, but I don't know how I could find it.

To the fuckheads in the government, letting businesses deduct the cost of toilet paper they provide their employees is a 'loophole'. Letting middle class people have some semblance of dignity by allowing them to deduct interest and local, county and state taxes to live in anything less then Section 8 housing in a crime-ridden neighborhood is a 'loophole'.

Meanwhile, someone very close to me, who works in a state position, just spent a week in Hawaii on the taxpayer dime. For a seminar that could have been held in the middle of the country, saving millions of dollars. 116 I read a good article... it might have been Bill Whittle or maybe Reason. They pointed out that Obama talks about how America doesn't do big projects any more like the Hoover dam. At the same time the part of the department of energy that is involved with hydroelectric power is filled with environmental lawyers who support tearing dams down and opposed the building of new ones. We can't do large infrastructure projects under Obama even if we wanted to because the environmentally crazies are now running the bureaucracy. I can only conclude that Malthusians are firmly in control of the ship and have us headed straight for the rocks with no way of avoiding them.

151 "President Barack Obama said there is 'no doubt' the government needs new
revenue from closing tax 'loopholes' and limiting deductions, along
with enacting spending cuts, to reduce the federal deficit."

Well, just as previously predicted, he's back for another bite.

One of the agitprop tactics it was suggested that Boehner should take heed of was this:

Barky is an economic idiot. So, simply give him what he wants, but on a limited time frame, and stick him with the consequences. It's not as though Barkynomics will suddenly produce booming Reaganesque prosperity. The guy is a shit-Midas on the economic front, as someone else pithily coined.

Obama wanted fat new taxes immediately. The GOP should have simply said, "OK, pal, it's on you," and voted for those taxes for two years only.

Two years takes us right into the 2014 Senate cycle, which if played well could put the upper chamber back in GOP hands and render Obama not just a lame duck but a cooked goose for his last two years in office.

And the resulting economic havoc between now and 2014 from those fat new taxes? All on Obama's plate. The House GOP could have simply said, "We enacted, under protest, the President's requested policies. These are the results of those policies of the President."

The road not taken. Would someone poison Boehner's merlot, please?

"No," he replied. "Once the boat is full of water, we should expect to see it drain out of this hole I've made in the hull."

Several of my countrymen then dove into the water, swum up and alongside my dinghy, and helpfully broke a hole through my hull to match theirs.

"The country works better when there's a shared sacrifice," one of them cheerfully explained."

188 Obama said that the fundamentals are good in the economy, and we can raise rates without significant slowing of the growth he expects.

His explanation of why the economy is sucking? A reduction in defense spending! WTF!

Unemployment for the past four years has been worse than it ever was under W (and that was an unprecedented disaster, remember that?), but Obama is not concerned about unemployment. Attempts to trim spending have been embarrassing disasters, but he's not concerned about that. Our entitlements are unsustainable, so he added a new one, and he's not concerned about that either. The only villains he sees are the Republicans who caused "needless self-inflicted wounds" to the economy by trying to stop the debt from ballooning.

"You can't fool all of the people all of the time." When will the majority of people in the USA realize that Obama's plans for the economy never work? Obama is delivering excuses, not results... how long will he get away with it?

Thank goodness we still have autonomous states, and some of them (like, Texas!) are showing what sane budget management will do. In 2016, whether Rick Perry runs or not, I want to see every Republican candidate comparing and contrasting Texas budget policy with Obama's, and pointing out the different outcomes.
