| CNN Contributor Roland S. Martin Isn't Buying CNN's Defenses Regardng "Ethnic" CleansingAs @johnekdahl noted earlier, Bart Feder now says he didn't mean too ethnic when he said too ethnic. To clarify, Feder’s issue with “Starting Point” was that the audience was too small and happened to be predominately African American. A source close to the show insists that the ethnicity of the audience was never the issue, it was the size. Feder in no way meant to imply that the audience was too ethnic. He just meant too small. Too small, too ethnic. You can see how close those words are to each other. They're virtually homophones.* But, thanks to some Twitter troublemaking, in which I congratulated Roland S. Martin numerous times for his prudence in saying nothing about the affair and just taking the check, nice and quiet, I can report that Roland S. Martin, at least, does not believe Feder's claims. When I asked him why he wasn't saying anything about it, he responded: "If you only knew!" And then, thereafter, reasserted how much he's saying about the ethnic cleansing. Behind the scenes, I imagine. He also seems to be hinting that he's got a Plan B, if he needs it. At no point did he ever contradict the premise of the question, to wit, that Soledad O'Brien was fired for having an audience that was "too ethnic." I'd really like to print this all up for you but Twitchy usually does this for me... * Homophones are gay phones, such as the iPhone, or Android, or Galaxy. Pretty much all of them, actually. Oddly enough, the only straight phone I know of is the Nokia Cock-N-Go. They should probably change the name. Comments1

So, in a gun control debate on Facebook. This was the last exchange.
Her - Ugh. I take it back. You're not interested in discourse; you're interested in proving yourself right by misreading and pulling bits of my comments out of their whole. Which is unfortunate and exemplifies why, as a country, we are finding it impossible to work together to find a solution to the violence that is being perpetuated with guns - by people, of course, but people with guns - that have far fewer regulations than other dangerous instrumentalities. I wish you an open mind, empathy, and an ability to question your views. It is in the questioning that the most transformative moments in society, as well as life, occur. Me - That was the biggest load of lib garbage I've heard in a long time. Could you throw in a couple more meaningless buzzwords? Ok, the floor is yours. Tell me, how many children (cause that's always what's thrown out) were killed by firearms in 2010 and what laws you would pass that would reduce that number and by how many. Posted by: BCochran1981 at January 30, 2013 09:49 PM (GEICT) I've had that same discussion about 10,000 times in the last 20 years. It's always exactly the same, thematically, and usually pretty close on a word-by-word basis. Never changes, never will. And the reason we can't work together is she's hanging onto a fictional dictionary of "facts" derived from ideology rather than the history of what actually happens. You can load them up with facts, history, and statistics until you turn blue, their position will not change because it's not based on external information but by the precepts of their worldview. If you challenge those precepts, you aren't challenging information but *the person*. So they get mad, accuse you of distorting or being stubborn or evil or racist or whatever - because while you think you challenged their "facts," to them you were challenging them as a person. Her - And, another thing: If I have to read/hear one more person spewing "the right to bear arms is protected by the Constitution" I am going to scream. FIRST, you wanna be a strict constructionist of the Constitution? Fine. Then, I SUGGEST you (1) read the damn thing; and (2) read the federalist papers which give it CONTEXT. That's a fun word, isn't it? Context. The fact of the matter is that the Second Amendment was passed to give the citizenry recourse against a tyrranical government, NOT to own an aresenal of semi-automatic, high capacity weapons so you can go hunt with yer buddies and shoot beer cans. Additionally, the government is given the RIGHT (through that same Constitution that is being waived around with confederate flags and camo) to REGULATE anything that is in the stream of commerce. So, guess what? No one is overstepping anyone's Second Amendment rights and this bullshit ignorant "protect my right to bear arms" rhetoric is frankly played. This was her garbage that started me rolling. Posted by: BCochran1981 at January 30, 2013 10:06 PM (GEICT) 217
From the DC:
The Remington factory has operated out of Ilion, N.Y., for nearly 200 years. As Innovation Trail notes, the town was essentially built around the plant, and New York has given the company over $5 million since 2009 to expand operations in the state. Remington currently employs around 1,200 workers in the area Mass migration, anyone? Posted by: the dude at January 30, 2013 10:07 PM (CypDC) 218
My response.
Ok...... 1) There are these special schools that teach people the proper way (hopefully) to read, understand and interpret the law. I have a degree on my wall from such a school. I also have a piece of paper on my wall from the State of Florida stating that I reached a sufficient level of knowledge and comprehension on the law that not only can I give my opinion on it, I can charge a crapload of money for that opinion if I so desire. 2) I read the Constitution multiple times every year. I love it. It's an extraordinary document and I'm in awe of it and those that wrote it. 3) You are indeed correct, the 2nd Amendment's purpose is to allow the citizens defense and recourse against a tyrannical govt. I'm not sure how you do so with a couple .38Spl/.22lr pistols. 4) No one, and I mean no one, hunts with the weapons you're talking about. 5) The vast majority of guns owned today are semi automatic. Most handguns, pistols and revolvers, are double action. Meaning that as long as there are bullets in the gun, it will fire as fast as you pull the trigger. 6) The govt does not have rights. The Constitution does not bestow rights upon the govt OR THE CITIZENS. The Constitution is a limiting document. It starts from the point of view that rights are Natural Rights. It limits the govt from infringing upon those rights. 7) I'm not sure what camo or Confederate flags have to do with this. And Ty, no one's 1st Amendment rights were violated. The 1st Amendment proscribes the Federal Govt from infringing upon the right to free speech. The 14th Amendment enforces those rights where states are concerned. I, as a private citizen, have no obligation to allow you to speak. I cannot violate your 1st Amendment rights in my capacity as a private citizen. I'm all for debate. But it has to be intelligent debate. Stop demagoguing the issue and defend it on its merits. If you wish to debate the Constitution, the you both you should do exactly what you charged others to do, know it. Posted by: BCochran1981 at January 30, 2013 10:08 PM (GEICT) 219

Hi! I don't really know much about anything. I just repeated all that my professors taught me in college while I was getting my degree in Wymyn's Stydyes. But I am a critical-thinking, open-minded, tolerant compassionate person who believes in democracy and justice. That is why I hate Republicans and think that Obama should be given unlimited power to implement his agenda in the face of Republican obstructionism. The Founding Fathers could never have foreseen these Republicans who hate America so much that they'd want a black president to fail. The Constitution is outmoded and ought to be replaced by Obama's vision for this country, which is nothing but sweetness and light. And if you Republicans dont' like it, you can just eat shit and die. That is because I'm a tolerant liberal.

Brent, you'll have to forgive my lack of legalese; I, too, have one of those fancy degrees of which you speak and I, too, will be able to.charge a shit ton for my opinion after the bar. 1. Obviously, my comments we're not directed at you or any one else that is able to have intelligent discourse surrounding this issue. My comments are about FANATICS (read: those people that hold to an opinion without a basis in fact; the same folks who have coopted the republican party). And yes, my comments regarding my frustrations with that particular cross section of the population we're derisive. I won't lie, I have a VERY difficult time with uninformed rhetoric. 2. I know full well that the government does not have "rights." As is surely apparent from the context, I was using the word "right" as a synonym for "power" (as in, the government, specifically Congress, has the POWER to regulate commerce) 3. As for the hunting comment, I was merely poking fun at the stereotypical NRA member. It was a joke. A JOKE. 4. I have no problem with people owning guns, if they so desire. None. What I do have a problem with is the fact that it is easier to get a gun than a driver's license. Posted by: BCochran1981 at January 30, 2013 10:18 PM (GEICT) 249
