| Funcession Hits Time, Inc.; 500 Layoffs AnnouncedKhan, I'm laughing at the superior intellect. By the way, the decrepit "tough guy" Lawrence O'Donnell grinned and glinted last night, as it was his time to shine: Someone had to defend NBC's indefensible lie, and O'Donnell eagerly enlisted for that duty. I discussed that at Breitbart. Oh: If you can't find "The Conversation," it's actually just at the top of the page right next to all the "Big This, Big That" clickers. If you can't see it it's because your computer is using a cached version of the top of the page -- it actually is there. But not in your older cached version. Until you clear that, or it clears automatically, you can click on this.Comments1

I’ve been thinking about forestry and how its principles and techniques may be useful in our approach to the world. Fire neither is innately constructive nor destructive. It merely causes change. If we use fire as a tool, we can enhance our environment or control an otherwise out of control fire. Setting a backfire to stop a fire is a very common technique employed to take away fuel for a larger fire. Letting it burn is most often an approach that leaves devastation with few benefits to us. With our economy we should be lighting backfires. Attacking the middle of a blaze wastes resources. Setting fires ahead of a fire and working around the fringes is best at extinguishing the fire. So, the only question becomes what is the best plan of attack to start some backfires. That question leads to who or what is next to be consumed. Lighting a fire there and reducing its fuel becomes the key question. Small areas where an existing backstop is present are ideal. Indeed, it is the immigrants and low information voters where the fire is headed. These groups, or maybe better yet their sub-groups, need to be partially burned before they become a fuel source for the wildfire that is socialism. We need to hurt these people so that all can see the much greater danger of being set fire by the liberal winds. We need to withhold any aid or comfort to the select people of these groups. As a specific example, do not give your time, talents, or money to urban nonprofits. Another would be to take more money from these people for their company sponsored healthcare. We need to make it such that the very people we wish to help have been hurt. Not killed. Merely hurt. Not all of them. Just enough of them so that the others see the danger. Then they can all connect consequences to actions. What we don’t want to do is waste our time attacking liberals or attacking the government entitlement agencies head on. It will not change them. Yes, withhold what you can from them, but only to save your resources not to try to affect some change. Attacking liberals will cement their own ideology and alienate you from those that you can change. Attacking liberals can also give them an explosion of energy in response. Instead, take away their oxygen by not adding water much like you would a grease fire. Instead just put a lid on it and walk away. I do want to change this country and all its components for the better. We must decide what is worth saving and what must burn. Unfortunately we need to harm the very ones we intend on saving so that the whole lot is not consumed. Every action and inaction we take in every moment must be purposeful. We need to internalize our word, take responsibility for it and then change our behaviors such that only positive steps are walked toward self and community betterment. Start by developing a plan in each of our lives toward an achievable and actual good. Determine what steps are required. Then begin by testing those steps; self monitoring those steps; altering course as required though feedback data. Once on the right path, it will become a walk in the park. This missive is one of my steps. Posted by: MMIB (Make It Back Burn - sophistahick) at January 30, 2013 02:06 PM (UhXzR) 228

Ace,
A little while back I saw your piece on shouldn't we let the Egyptians and the Iraqis just fight it out and essentially have their own civil war to figure out what kind of country they should be, and who are we to step in as a "parent." Essentially, that is the Jacksonian foreign policy/philosophy, and is the dominant philosophy in America. I can't remember where I saw that phrase or its explanation, but it was a fascinating read with regard to the various policies/philosophies present in America.
