Whoopsie-Pie: ABC Had on Senator Robert Menendez This Sunday and Plum Forgot to Ask Him About the Underage Dominican Prostitutes Story They've Had Since the Middle of Last Year

As Marion Ravenwood said, "Must've slipped his mind."

The man is nefarious.

Martha Raddatz, the latest ABC "reporter" to pass up on the story, is a woman, but the quote's about a man, so.

And speaking of the state-run media, apparently 60 Minutes ran a particularly soft double-interview with Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Kirstin Powers calls it propaganda you'd expect to see from a "state-run media."

Something occurred to me: The preference cascade I was talking about did happen. But it's happened in the press. They feel empowered, they feel history is on their side, they feel the audience is inclining to the liberal position, and so they're not hiding it anymore.

Which, of course, suggests that the very limited amount of Hiding It they did was not for purposes of ethics, but simply for pecuniary reasons; that is, they pretended a little bit simply to not lose parts of the audience.

But, as Instapundit has noted, "ethics" pretends to be some sort of code that provides hygiene to the industry whereas, in fact, "ethics" are usually created precisely to protect the industry, and cover up its excesses.

The media claims, for example, that "ethics" preclude them from revealing their voting histories and their politics, because revealing such would compromise their objectivity.

Bullshit. Their objectivity is already compromised. Objectivity is compromised by bias; it is not compromised by the admission of bias. In fact, the admission of bias increases partiality. Hiding one's bias is dishonest as a first matter but then further creates an environment in which honesty is denigrated, and thus leads to further dishonesty.

The industries have imposed this rule not to serve the public better but to withhold from the public crucial information, which information, while helpful and important to the public in evaluating media reports, would hurt the media itself. That is, if CNN admitted it was liberal, it would in fact be providing more helpful, useful information to its audience, but some of that audience might stop watching it.

This "rule" is a complete lie, and an indefensible one. The "ethical rule" only exists to deceive the public and is directly contrary to the interests of the public; the only beneficiary of this "ethical rule" is the industry itself.

So I guess we shouldn't be too surprised that the media is now treating an "ethical rule," supposedly dictated by non-self-interested considerations, as what it always was, a simple matter of self-interest.

And since they think they won't be punished, market-wise, for showing some more liberal leg, boy are they showing it.

36 Ace,

I think you're missing something here. Namely the contradiction held by the media (and also government.)

Disclosure is good for the soul some would say. And in certain case (like medical research) we pass laws that mandate it. (See Grassley's Sunshine act worked into ObamaCare that he's been running around with for years.)

They (Government and media BIRM) claim it is necessary that such disclosure be mandated so we can keep tabs on the elites running our medical research. Now we can argue all day and night whether that disclosure is good or bad, and what form it should take, and other crap. But the important thing here is, for some odd reason the media doesn't feel the need to disclose this shit amongst themselves.
We're told it matters for medical researchers, and actually doctors in general (which is the field I'm familiar with, it's not exclusive to that obviously). Because their speaking jobs, or their advisory positions or a freaking pen, may cause them to thumb the scale of research (or treatment plans.) Yet for some odd reason, being connected to a particular candidate is seen as having no bearing on the reporters. Nope, they ain't tempted to thumb the scale at all.

Interestingly, in the case of research, we know there's bias built in to prove one's theory correct. We are constantly on the lookout for it, we fear it'll set us down the wrong course setting science back generations. Yet strangely, this truth is totally ignored as having any applicability for the media (while the simultaneously call for greater oversight of scientists.)

80 The real cascade is the erosion of family and marriage. If gay marriage

Yep. This one is fun. First, a lot of the same-sex marriage supporters, when asked, say they have no problem with polygamy, thinking themselves super-enlightened. Second, those who don't assert, with no evidence whatsoever, that it cannot possibly happen that declaring marriage to be a right will lead to polygamy because...and I quote: "C'mon!"

And so is sex with children.

And here's where the tolerance uber alles gets them into big trouble. If you believe in the "Born that way" philosophy (which excludes transsexuals, who were explicitly born the other way, but just turn off your brain for a minute), then you have to face the fact that pedophiles and pederasts are born that way too.

So what do you do with them?

You can't tell them that they must stop their behavior, that they have to restrain themselves or seek other outlets. They were born that way. They can't he'p it. So what do you do?

85 I guess Paddy Chayefsky ultimately had it wrong in "Network" -- no one in the MSM "news" entertainment function is getting summarily executed by MSM management a la Howard Beale simply due to declining ratings.

Now, personally, directly, and ceaselesslyfighting with management (and subordinates) because you're simply wired to do so (a la Olby)... *That* plus declining ratings gets you a pink slip, albeit not aBeale-style bullet to the brain.

If you have a problem with Menendez, get in his face and call him out! Some Senator with guts (or cajones or both) needs to go up to the microphone on CSPAN during a live hearing and call the bastard out. Tell the rest of the upper chamber exactly what happened and challenge him on the floor of the Senate to respond to the charges.

If you're waiting for some dick-headed MSM member to do it, you'll be waiting forever.

It's time to start protesting. These people should no longer be allowed to do softball interviews with lickspittle stenographers without 50,000 protesters outside the studio letting everyone inside know that we're on to them. Everywhere Obama, Hillary, Biden, whoever goes to talk to a pre-arranged love fest with a journalist, make them walk through a throng of protesters.

Enough articles. Enough tweets. If people don't start taking to the streets it's going to be too late. There were half a million people in the Right to Life march. Surely 1/10th of that is not too much to ask to protest media corruption.

themselves super-enlightened. Second, those who don't assert, with no
evidence whatsoever, that it cannot possibly happen that declaring
marriage to be a right will lead to polygamy because...and I quote:
"C'mon!"

Of course if you believe ABC or 60 minutes or something. There are tons of happy "poly-amorous" groups all over the place already, just unofficially or something.

I'm not sure we haven't already crossed that threshold (i.e it being accepted), it's just we have no real way of recognizing it as an institution anyway* (and they have no desire to be recognized.) So in that sense it's different than gay marriage.

*Before I'm bitched out, I'm not saying we *should* recognize gay marriage, I'm just saying something exists that could be co-opted to recognize it. Personally, I'm starting to shift libertarian on this. "Axe it all and let contract law handle it." just out of frustration.

Without getting this into a same-sex marriage argument, my main point is that when you declare marriage to be a "right" (in order to get around the electorate and get to the courts) there are tons of unintended consequences that are eliminated when the state is allowed to define marriage capriciously outside of the bounds of common law without it being a "right".

There is no right to "thought error and speechhate" in amendment 1.

There is no right to privacy in amendment 4, and no right to free association anywhere in the document.

Well yeah, except I don't really think the Poly-amorous people care to buy into the whole "marriage" thing anyway. The whole idea of polyamory is the rejection of marriage.

So while I think the logical conclusion is valid (the minute you reduce marriage to "what makes people happy" it opens the door to all kinds of crazy ass shit.) I'm not sure we'll see the practical repercussions of it in the form of them demanding state recognition.

But as I've said before, I'm not really sure Gay marriage was ever about state recognition, I think it was a stand in for societal recognition and acceptance (an entirely different thing.) I do suspect we'll see the polyamory crowd clamoring for societial recognition at some point, I'm just not sure what that will look like (beyond "stop judging me") since they eschew "marriage" altogether.

All the focus should be on Raddatz. Fox should be doing an hour long special on her. Bloggers should be digging up everything about her past, what stories she's done, who she's sleeping with, anything to help explain why she is covering for Menendez.

And speaking of Menendez, every reference to him should be in the past tense, as if a worldwide trial had already taken place and he's been found guilty of fucking Dominican children. However, he shouldn't be spoken of directly, only as a reference or an aside about the Raddatz cover up.

262 Well yeah, except I don't really think the Poly-amorous people care to
buy into the whole "marriage" thing anyway.

Here's the thing: Neither did homosexuals. In fact, I'm old enough to remember (and I'm under 40) that it was anti-gay to support gay marriage.

The whole idea of polyamory
is the rejection of marriage.

Not at all. Not in the backwoods of Utah, for instance.

If I've learned anything, though, it's never to say, "But that will never happen..."

It's interesting to hear what people think when they hear polygamy. I think your mind went to Greenwich Village swingers.

But as I've said before, I'm not
really sure Gay marriage was ever about state recognition, I think it
was a stand in for societal recognition and acceptance (an entirely
different thing.)

It is 100% about psychological validation. That's why civil unions wasn't "enough". It didn't have the word "marriage", all official-like.

Of course, the problem with same-sex marriage is that gay couples don't want to get married. They really don't. Oh, sure, when it's "legal" in some state, then there's the rush of some gray-haired couples signing up for the license and having a little ceremony in a courthouse.

And that's it. And then what? Marriage -- the ones that need to happen, between poor young heterosexual couples whose fucking might make a child -- becomes less and less a social norm. Same-sex marriage is just a car on that huge freight train, but if it comes with "rights" baggage, then the throttle's gone beyond the breaking point.

I am encouraged, though, by the fact that the left-wing social reforming elitist granola types actually do get married now. They've rejected the lifestyle they've been recommending for everybody else.

The roughnecks all buy huge houses and lots of toys to play with using credit and then lose it all whenever there is a major downturn in the oil sector.

This means a huge bubble in real estate prices that will burst in a few years and then re-inflate during the next up-cycle for oil.

No shit.

Plant your feet on Canadian soil and say the magic words: "I am a refugee". It's like telling a cop you want your lawyer. Once you've said those words, a lot of stuff happens. The immigration cops can't touch you and you go into the system where you start collecting benefits while your case is prepared.

I watched this shit happen when I was growing up and wondered how much longer it could go on. Apparently a long time.

Audience numbers are irrelevant when there is no mainstream alternative. Fox News has been poisoned in LIV minds and besides they are on cable which requirespeople go to them instead of like networks which are in their faces all the time.

The reason that audience numbers are irrelevant isthat parent companies of the networks are profiting from government's patronage.

I understand your point, I just don't think it's valid. There is a REASON why homosexuality has been condemned for at least the last several thousand years. For one, the behavior is at the bulls-eye of very deadly and dangerous diseases. The gay community acts as a repository for most of the sexual diseases which afflict the nation. Secondly, the deviancy lends itself to other (worse) outlets. John Wayne Gacy ring a bell? Jeffery Dahmer? Henry Lee Lucas? They are WAY over represented amongst the ranks of serial killers. They are also overrepresented amongst the ranks of traitors and suicides. (Suicide is the number one cause of death among male homosexuals.)

What i'm getting at, is the behavior is indicative of serious psychological problems, and their presence in a community vastly increases the odds of death and disease. Take a lesson from history, and don't assume that people can't affect you by their activities.

381 Membership privileges in the Democrap Club include rape and pedophilia and drug use and beastiality and theft and drunk driving and wrongful death and bribery and... Now you don't have to take advantage of these privileges, but they are there for those who want to.

Didn't someone a few days ago describe satanism as having these characteritics?

382 380 decaf,

nah there is still a LOT of inertia here...

the GOP is down with importing Mexicans wholesale because even 55% of our normal life looks good to them...

we're being squeezed and I think too many frogs think the water is "mostly okay"

The GOP does not even have a hard requirement to put hard citizenship testing back in....

we caved on everything.

"we" hell I hope one day snicker at 'we' in relation to the GOP.

383 And since they think they won't be punished, market-wise, for showing some more liberal leg, boy are they showing it.

How could they be punished more? Nobody watches them now, except for captive audiences at the airport and doctor's offices.

384 Your taking it outside of what it was. A bathroom stall in a mens room.

It's sex in public..

A bathroom stall isn't there so Craig can hook up.

It's there so somebody can shit.

Craig should get a fucking hotel room.

And no, I don't want to have to worry about taking my son into a restroom because a guy could be having sex in there. I'm fully willing to tranple on the 'right' to fuck in a bathroom

You are applying the 'keep out of the bedroom' idea to a public restroom. That doesn't fly.

(That said, I like you OSP and will probably get your book when I get some time to read.)
