Guns & Hunting Thread (1-27-2013)

The Battle Lines Are Being Drawn

Since gun control is working so well in Chicago ...

This is a hold up: Rahm Emanuel takes gun battle to banks

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is taking his gun control push to private banks and asking major lenders in Chicago to stop doing business with firearms manufacturers.

In a letter to TD Bank and Bank of America on Thursday, Mr. Emanuel asked the CEOs to force gun manufacturers they do business with to “find common ground with the vast majority of Americans who support a military weapons and ammunition ban.”

Meanwhile ...

Gun range prohibits police after city considers ban

A rural Vermont firing range has told the police department in Burlington that its officers are unwelcome to train at the facility because the City Council has advanced a measure to ban semi-automatic rifles and large-capacity magazines in the state's largest city.

Diane Feinstein introduced her ridiculous gun control bill this week, and people across the political spectrum pretty well laughed it off. But make no mistake, the left will continue this push for gun control using all means at their disposal. It must be resisted at every turn, so hats off to that Vermont gun range and every business like it that stands solidly behind our second amendment rights.

I credit Ronnie Barrett of Barrett Firearms with setting the gold standard for telling gun grabbing politicians to get bent. Follow that link to read Barrett's letter in its entirety. It can't really be excerpted well and I don't want to copy the whole thing into the thread.

9 I think we should all be VERY afraid of the nebulous sounding "Universal Background Check".

It is gun registration. It will cost you at least $50 to do a background check on your son so you can give him a gun for Christmas.

More importantly, all records of gun transfers will be kept in a PERMANENT file. So every gun in the country that is ever transfer, by death, sale or gift will be put in a register.

Guess where that leads?

17 "Note: I'm going to do the good guy/bad guy list mentioned in the 'Australian Whinemaker' post as a separate post that I'll update as

Note: if conservatives seriously propose to boycott businesses on a "bad guy list", pretty much the entire American entertainment industry with a few isolated exceptions has to be on that list.

Starve the beast. Cancel your contracts with Hollyweird and the MFM and, crucially, _tell them why you are doing it_. Unambiguously.

It doesn't have to be a brick through their window, but when you call to shitcan your TV subscription, say precisely and loudly that you are tired of paying for left-wing crap. Follow that up with an actual physical snailmail letter saying the same, in the same unmistakable words.

There is NOTHING more feared in the executive suites than huge sacks of cancellation letters. Big bulging physical sacks spilling out on to the floor with bye-bye messages from former subscribers. The message is unmistakable. Heads will roll.

A "tomorrow confiscation" on a large scale is not going to happen, for that reason. But the "control freaks" have been trying for decades to create a culture where that *can* happen.

Think about what a culture like that would mean for the rest of your life.

75 I went out shooting a variety of guns with my wife yesterday. She's new to shooting, and has fairly small hands and is not terribly strong.
She had a tough time holding the revolvers steady and staying on target. They were just to heavy for her to hold still at arm's length. She did better with the automatic, but had a hard time racking the slide. The 12-gauge shotgun was too much for her to handle, and her arms were not long enough to rack the pump.
But she did great with the AR-15. It took her a few shots to get the ghost-ring site figured out, but after that, she was on target quite effectively. And recoil was no problem. Her accuracy with the AR-15 was far and away better than with any other type we fired.
Now, I did fine with pretty much everything they had, but I'm a big guy with big hands. The one compact automatic was too small for me and I kept on putting my thumb up on the slide, but all those other guns were pretty much designed for me. But for my wife, theAR-15 was the only acceptable choice.
The effort to ban modern sporting rifles like the AR-15 should be a feminist issue. It willeffectively disarm far more women than it will men. I can always fall back onmy trusty.30-06 or a 1911, but there is no way my wife could handle either of those guns. I know that there are women who are the most ardent opponents of the so-called "Assault Weapon", but theyshould really reconsider. They are only disarming themselves.

I've done both...we are in a privately owned home, in normal sane

That's what I recall from a few years ago. If you live off post, you can refuse to allow your chain of command entrance. Of course, they can simply recall your wife back to live in the barracks, but doing that to all soldiers would be a logistics nightmare.

From what I understand, the 1911 is a Filipino cultural institution. Partly for its origins in the aftermath of the Insurrection, but also for WWII. As a pinoy on one of the 1911 gun blogs observed, for thousands of Jap soldiers, the last thing they saw on this planet was a 90 lb Filipino resistance fighter with a 1911 pointed at their face as they laid on the ground.

So, like I really don't "own" a firearm, and although have thought about buying a shotgun for home protection ( I live in a pretty crime free area), that's about as far as it has gotten.

So, an enumerated right under the Constitution is subject to simple majority vote of the Senate / House to be abrogated.
Scary semi-autos, to be used to "spray from the hip" (Dianne Feinstein).

We don't want you to have those scary military type rifles. Does that mean I can have a lever action Winchester, or a Sharps Rifle (military issue in the 19th century)? Or how about bolt action Springfield 1903? Nerf gun?

Where do we draw the line before they frankly criminalize and disarm everybody? Because we wouldn't want to have bad optics and look like the dumb kulak - rubes that we are, clinging bitterly to our Bibles, and stuff.

So here we are, after this Severely conservative President has created an Insurance "tax" that mandates a commercial purchase against the free choices of our citizens. And his EPA is shutting down powerplants by fiat and an incredibly broad interpretation of the Clean Air Act, and will make paupers of us all.

Wait, is there some room to compromise here? They won't take McCain's house in Sedona? Got it.

Cool. My reference was to the fact that the 1911 was developed after the Spanish American War in 1898 because the revolvers the army had would not stop the charging Flips. They did not have the knock down power and the flips, although hit, kept charging.

Soon after came the 1911 with some knock down power.

Gun show this weekend in NW Florida. Organizers opened an hour early for anticipated crowds, they weren't disappointed. Attendenance on Sat exceeded previous records by 30%. Not many EBRs available and those that were were priced well above MSRP in many cases. You couldn't get close to the ammo vendors but had to stand in line. The big ammo guys didn't raise prices, they just sold until they were out. What I found interesting was that for every EBR shopper there seemed to be 4 handgun buyers, home defense was the underlying theme of the day.
The local mullet wrapper reporter(U of Illinois, music critic and "cat dad") wrote an article that started off with "panic" and "assault rifles" but also tossed in references to "zombie T shirts", "throwing knives" and "crackling tasers" to reflect the social standing of the sellers and attendees.

113 We have to stop viewing the left as our fellow countrymen, and start looking at them as the enemy. Culturally, we need to cut them out of our lives.

Your kids are friends with theirs? Not anymore.

Your kids want to go over to someone's house for the evening? Call and find out if they have a gun. If they proudly say that they don't, then tell them that you don't want your child around someone who isn't willing to protect their family.

Don't just go after businesses, go after them personally. Don't speak with them in the store. Don't stop to help them on the side of the road. Don't wish them a happy birthday or send your regrets when their parent dies.

114 I dunno if anyone is interested, I posted this in the ONT thread earlier this week when it happened, but I think my lovely experience this week certainly fits in the weekly gun thread:

So, any of you morons want to bring your Second Amendment rights over
for a visit? I found out today that I don’t have any, and I kind of miss
‘em.

Last month I went to buy a gun. I filled out all of
the paperwork, was very careful to read all of the questions thoroughly
and answer truthfully. Sent it away with nary a thought, figured that
it was just a matter of time, those State Police boys are swamped with
applications right now.

So Today I get a letter from the police,
saying I’m declined. It seems that I am “Prohibited from purchasing a
firearm!” and because I signed the form saying I wasn’t I had committed
perjury, my case was being submitted to the AG for criminal
investigation, and oh, by the way YOU ARE PROHIBITED FROM POSSESSING FIREARMS, please contact us if you have any so we can assist you in disposing of them (riiiiiight).

What.

The.

Fuck???

There’s
a number to call, so I do so. I’m thinking it’s probably a mistake, “oh
we got you confused with..” kinda deal. Nope. Seems that there’s a
record of my being charged with “unlawful use of a telephone” in 1989.
Huh? I don’t remember that (I didn’t). No clue what’s going on. Talk to
the guy some more, nope, there’s nothing more, some minor stuff that was
stetted or PBJed (probation before judgment) back in my youth, but
that’s it: unlawful use of a telephone, and not only does it sound like a
joke, it sounds like a dirty one. I did finally figure out what
happened. Way back in college, after a breakup with an old GF, she took
me to court charging me with harassing her. I denied it, the judge said
leave her alone or I’ll throw the book at you, I said I never wanted to
see the crazy bitch again and that was the end of it. I hadn’t thought
of it in over 20 years, truthfully since maybe a week after the time in
court. I’ve figured it out. What must have happened, in order to ensure
that I never contacted crazy ex-gf, was the judge found me guilty of
unlawful phone use, suspended sentence, and stuck me on unsupervised
probation so that if I did call crazy ex-gf, she could find me in
violation and impose the jail time. I, who had no desire to see her
again, counted this as a win and went on with my life, forgetting the
whole sordid episode. NOW, however, I’m in a great big fur ball of shit
because of it. In no particular order:

A) Wife is mad.
Not because of some bullshit harassment charge decades before we met
that I never told her about, but because she was looking forward to
having the gun. She’s developed a liking for shooting and was looking
forward to doing more of it, now she can’t even go buy the gun herself
because that’ll scream “STRAW PURCHASE” to the cops, even if it’s not. I
have no problem not having access to the weapon, but we’ll have to look
into that, it may be tricky. Can’t do that until next week because:

B) My lawyer is in Nevada until Monday. I sure hope the Md. AG doesn’t take it in his head to do anything tomorrow about:

C)The
fact that I now have a FUCKING PERJURY CHARGE hanging over my head. I
put no trust, none, nada, zero in that the guy on the phone said “Well,
they’ll be no charges, but there could be”, so to make sure I’m damn
clean I no longer:

D)“Possess” any firearms whatsoever, and no,
they’re not buried in the yard. There isn’t a firearm in the house, on
my property or within miles of me (except what other people may own, of
course). I possess and have access to not one single firearm, so:

E)Hope nobody breaks in and, to top it off:

F)In
order to get this cleared off of my record I have to begin the process
of petitioning the Governor for a pardon for my unlawful phone use, a
process that starts with a 30 page document that must be exactingly
filled out and ends in 1-2 years, at which point the only guns allowed
in Md. will probobaly have “NERF” written on them.

138 Yup. I've had my run ins with the IG a couple of times while acting as company commander. Never had a problem, however, because I made sure my ducks were in a row and I could justify what I was doing and prove that it wasn't a whim or a vendetta against a specific soldier.

Ditto. Right down to relentless tracking of every admin action from counseling statements to ART 15s and more by multiple variables including, but not limited to, race, age, sex, hometown and so on.

The only way to survive when the IG shows up is to actually have the data to prove the complaint is total bullshit.

143 Some gun related news articles.

Two college students at their house in upstate New York hear a disturbance in the house. One goes to investigate to find armed burglars. His note of alarm alerts the other one who grabs his EBR, an AR-15, and when the burglars see him with gun at the ready - they flee. Bloomberg and Cuomo unavailable for comment.
http://tinyurl.com/a6nuvat

Meanwhile in the disarmed island of the United Kingdom. A thug armed with an illegal gun tries to hold up a bookies' store. The unarmed patrons mob the thug and apparently sit on him When the Bobbies and EMTs tried to resuscitate the thug, all attempts failed. So Hip! Hip! Hooray for those patrons. Showing a thug they can't be cowed and saving themselves a few pence each year because the thug will not be put in prison, just a hole in the ground.

How about you go dig up the remains of millions who died at the hands of tyrannical gun grabbers such as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc. Ask them how it felt to be defenseless and unable to defend their families when they were hauled off to a camp, gulag, or some other murderous hell hole by their own government. Seriously Mr.King, you are a witless douche bag that needs to be medicated. Stay in the house and write your scary little books. Leave the actual thinking to others.

The time is coming -- sooner than anyone thinks -- when the mere mention of the term "credit" will invoke nothing other than wistful sighs of remembrance of a vanished antebellum world.

Ask anyone who lived through the late 1990s collapse in Argentina how useful their personal credit rating was, once banks stopped lending to anyone under any circumstances.

Stay in good health. Own useful stuff. Have useful skills. Be ready to beat feet in a hurry. Be careful of vouchsafing trust. These are the necessary attributes of coming through what's coming. Credit? Not so much.

I will repeat what I said last week about the military. It appears that Dear Leader is slowly but surely replacing America-loving warriors with his version of his vaunted Homeland Security Force.

It's the reason for letting go of tried and true higher ranking officers. Not defending DOMA. Letting women into the combat arms.

Watch carefully. When the leftists get the personnel they feel needs to fill the majority of the military, defense spending will go up exponentially.

see the crazy bitch again and that was the end of it. I hadn't thought
of it in over 20 years, truthfully since maybe a week after the time in
court. I've figured it out. What must have happened, in order to ensure
that I never contacted crazy ex-gf, was the judge found me guilty of unlawful phone use, suspended sentence, and stuck me on unsupervised
probation so that if I did call crazy ex-gf, she could find me in
violation and impose the jail time. I, who had no desire to see her

again, counted this as a win and went on with my life, forgetting the

whole sordid episode. NOW, however, I'm in a great big fur ball of shit

because of it."

No, you're in a great big fur ball of shit because you were a total fucking idiot.

Any time you find yourself in the clutches of the American judicial system, one of the most dysfunctional aspects of our dysfunctional society, you need the best possible legal counsel available at any price, to protect you from it, and also to protect you from you. Not a cheap bozo. Someone expensive and on top of their game.

I hate most lawyers with the intensity and heat of ten thousand exploding supernovae. But I also know that sometimes you really need a lawyer. A good one. This is a regrettable necessity of our totally fucked-up "justice system".

A good attorney would and should have told you that leaving these kinds of supposedly "trivial" convictions on your record was a bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad thing. Get the idea? It's bad.

At this point? You ARE boned. You ARE in a great big fur ball of shit. Squaring this away now will cost far more money than doing it right the first time would have cost.

Posted by: Secret Squirrel at January 27, 2013 05:46 PM (0SmH0)

I don't know that a direct connection was ever established, or even a good indirect one. COSCO was a huge Chinese conglomerate that ran a ship called Empress Phoenix into a California port with 2000 full-auto AK-47s in mislabeled containers (on purpose).

While FeneSwine's husband Richard Blum does business with COSCO (due in no small part to FineSwine's political leverage), I haven't seen anyone connect those dots, except as an unsubstantiated rumor.

220 Now that you have your weapons and ammo as a safety net against tyranny ( formerly thought to be very rare chance) it really is ineffective unless you combine your preparation with other like minded people. It can be a simple as discussing a plan of action and agreement what to do if the worst should happen to the more complex of forming a militia group. 222 The troll Wang Hanglo gives us another example of lefty projection. Because Wangless Ho, like all leftist "males", is a coward and pussy who would let his family members be killed rather than trying to defend them, he attempts to deflect from his own cowardice by sneering about how guns are penis extenders. (Tell that to women who own guns.) Well, Wangless Ho, at least conservative men have penises to extend, unlike the twinks on your side.

It's no wonder that leftist "males" are big fans of anything that tears down traditional masculinity, whether it is kneecapping the military or taking away guns. It's because masculine men make them feel like the inadequate, sorry excuses for men they are. Having the courage to defend oneself and one's loved ones, rather than relying on someone else to put their necks on the line, is a quality they hate and fear. (Oh, lefties like Tiny Dancer Rahm know how to bully and threaten - but that's not a virtue.) They know, deep down, that they are mewling cowards and pussies - so they have to try to turn it around by making their own balllessness a virtue and dragging down men how actually have nutsacks.

Gist is this- the drill sgts wear makeup, tie their long hair back, have their nails done etc- all within regs- and still kick the female recruits asses. Training is also segregated from the males. I'm really not doing the article justice, but I found it fascinating coming from an army background where standards are simply lowered to meet goals. I hate to say it, but I met very few female soldiers who could hold a candle to their Marine counterparts in terms of discipline, fitness and attractiveness. Just sayin!

What I usually do in these kinds of situations is to save the receipts from a year or so of sending business to competitors, and then photocopy the lot and send it all to the CEO of the boycotted business. Re-explaining why I took my custom to their competitor.

That apparently has firecracker-in-a-henhouse consequences once in a while. There are some CEOs who do still insist on reading some of the customer complaint mail.

267 Re: IP

The "/24" refers to the number of ipv4 addresses assigned to the provider.

It would be a mistake to take that as the last octet. Which would give you the PA provider, but that's not the IP.

So 198.228.228.0 /24 is in Maylasia

The PA one would be 198.228.228.24 /(whatever)

Posted by: Merovign, Dark Lord of the Sith at January 27, 2013 06:29 PM (bxiXv)

268 Also to be pedantic the *number* after the slash is not the number of addresses. The higher the number the fewer addresses in the block.

/24 means the Maylasian provider has 256 ipv4 addresses. /16 would be 64000.

275 Remember last month the New York Times ran an opinion piece byProfessor Louis Michael Seidman, “Let’s Give Up The Constitution”?

Now CBS Morning News has actually given his opinion wider view by running it on their Sunday Morning show:

Is the U.S. Constitution truly worthy of the reverence in which most Americans hold it? A view on that from Louis Michael Seidman, Professor of Constitutional Law at Georgetown University:

I’ve got a simple idea: Let’s give up on the Constitution.

I know, it sounds radical, but it’s really not. Constitutional disobedience is as American as apple pie.

For example, most of our greatest Presidents — Jefferson, Lincoln, Wilson, and both Roosevelts — had doubts about the Constitution, and many of them disobeyed it when it got in their way.

To be clear, I don’t think we should give up on everything in the Constitution. The Constitution has many important and inspiring provisions, but we should obey these because they are important and inspiring, not because a bunch of people who are now long-dead favored them two centuries ago.

Unfortunately, the Constitution also contains some provisions that are not so inspiring. For example, one allows a presidential candidate who is rejected by a majority of the American people to assume office. Suppose that Barack Obama really wasn’t a natural-born citizen. So what?

Liberals really are crazy and dangerous

293 Okay, it looks like I may have got the IP owner backward. I thought Jaral owned it and SPC leased it, now it looks like SPC owns it and Jaral leases it.

I am now wondering who owner whois is giving two different results from different sites.

Andy, SPC's abuse e-mail is ipabuse@wdspco.org

Otherwise the same information is needed.

SPC provides IPs to wireless companies as well as some overseas entities (like Jaral). They are a frequent source of hard-to-track spam.

http://randominternet.blogspot.com/2009/07/service-provider-corporation.html

Their status makes it hard to track IPs - a proxy, a momentary IP from a phone, etc.

294 Secret squirrel , how many different kinds of calls can you use competently . Sometimes variety is the spice of life .
One of my tricks is to cut aggressively with a good loud box call while trying to shock one into gobbling . Don't do it if one is close to you but a lot of times that call will make one sound off when nothing else will work .

298 It may *still* have been through Jaral. The address given here was 198.228.228.0 /24 and technically SPC's is 198.228.0.0 /16. The former is *contained* in and owned by the latter but run by Jaral.

I might start with Jaral anyway because SPC does not seem especially responsive from reputation.

The lack of common sense amongst Leftards is breathtaking. It makes me wonder where all the normal people went.

Also, the prof's statements employ a typical psychological mechanism: someone with "authority" makes a point that flies in the face of logic, and the weak of intellect will automatically think that he must know what he's talking about because, authority.

I know I don't have much going for me between my ears, but at least I have a healthy scepticism towards just about everything.

And you, my astonishing friends, you are certainly getting into a millennium, such as never was before,— hardly even in the dreams of Bedlam.

I consider myself a staunch Party of Lincoln, straight-ticket-voting Republican, but you're right. National-level GOP politicians keep acting as if Obama was reelected by an overwhelming landslide and the only rational response (in their view) is to go along and get along.

So no, I can't keep my allegiance to the Republican Party if they become nothing more than Tory sellouts. Thing is, I don't think GOP leadership realizes how disenchanted party rank-and-file has become. Does the GOP Establishment honestly, truly believe they can dispense with the conservative core, attract solely moderate Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats, and remain viable?

They're fools if they do.

On-topic, I absolutely love Hickok45's YouTube videos. He featured the Mosin-Nagant one time and pretty much explained--in a way I couldn't--the sheer joy it is to shoot that rifle.

321 26 "The oil filter thing is cool, BUT you have to put threads on your barrel. He only shots 22, not very loud anyway. A sub sonic is just a quiet, and he keeps implying that you still have to buy the $200 stamp. Is he just covering his ass?"

Uh, no. I own suppressors and a suppressed .22 is FAR quieter than a subsonic .22. There is no comparison. A standard .22 is not hearing safe, regardless of what people tell you. A suppressed .22 is quieter than a staple gun, frankly the action of the weapon will be far louder than the gunshot. Also, you will hear the bullet striking the backstop or earth.

As far as threads are concerned, there are many firearms that are already threaded, or you can buy a threaded barrel. Many shops offer barrel threading for suppressors. I have had several of my firearms threaded for mine. It was no big deal.

Lastly, you bet your ass you have to pay for the $200 stamp if you want to use the oil can suppressor. The adapter is considered the registered suppressor by the BATFE and the oil can itself is merely a replaceable baffle stack. If you don't pay for the stamp, that's 10 years in Pound Me In The Ass Federal Prison for you. No thanks.

That oil can suppressor is a pretty slick set up if you just want to screw around with a .22 suppressor.

366 OT: The discussion on women in combat has brought up the point of, how do we react when American women are captured by the enemy and brutally raped?

Of course, the question is directed at the American public, but the same question needs to be asked of the American military. If word came out that the enemy had raped an American servicewomen, what would be the response from thousands of men still fighting? Would they simply shrug and go on, or would there be a primal urge to get revenge against the enemy, whether uniformed or civilian?

373 If you look up the FBI stats on firearm homicides, there were a little over 300 deaths from ALL rifles in 2011 (last year of their published data). Semi-autos only account for a portion of those, but using the total yields roughly 0.1 deaths per hundred thousand. Hand gun deaths are roughly 20 times that figure. If you were serious about limiting deaths from firearms wouldn't you start with handguns? It's obvious that is not the true purpose.

The trend is interesting in that as the total number of semi-auto (black guns!) has gone up both the total crime rate and firearm homicides have declined.

Only two volunteered until the brass told them, look we will get the number we need. We will either re-assign your regular duty hours or we will allow you to "volunteer" on overtime pay.
They got the volunteers but my SWAT Team buddy says none of them will come for my guns or allow the two Obama fans to do so either.

380 A Las Vegas blackjack dealer who sold her story of sext and intrigue involving Anthony Weiner to Radar Online made an impromptu appearance on the former congressman's Facebook to apologize for destroying his political career.
"So great to see you back!" she wrote, a one-time Democratic Party worker, next to a photo of Weiner, his wife Huma Abedin, and their newborn son Jordan. "Your wife and son are beautiful! Please let me apologize again for any pain I caused your (sic) or the beautiful Huma…it was unintentional…I still think you are our liberal hero and we need you back in politics!!"
The mea culpa represents an about-face for Weiss, who said she decided to tell her story because Weiner was "a bad man" and "a liar."
Weiss, who also said she initiated the exchanges between herself and Weiner by sending him a personalized friend request, is apparently still Facebook friends with Weiner despite the scandal.
As for Weiner, he has been mostly mum since dropping out of the public spotlight, but a recent op-ed in the New York Daily News suggests hes going to run for Mayor

415 392 Concealed Kerry,

It costs a fee for a dealer local to you in your state to receive it and do your paperwork. As a military family we have experience with having to jump through hurdles to meet the law, but I am not playing lawyer b/c of how divergent laws are. There have been times it has been easier for us to go home to Ohio to buy, and others where a copy of her orders and local proof of residency was easier.

ARs are WAY overpriced and ammo is scarce, I saved a lot of money dropping the hammer when I did on my 2d build and I would NOT overpay for one right now personally. I used to do a "Sven builds a Cheap AR" linkfest on Sunday night ONTs and I may do one here but in all sincereity right now I'd consider getting a pistol caliber carbine or a 30/30 and saving the money for down the pike.

The ammo is still there for both those in some quantity without being gouged.

Good luck and SW will be a bit backlogged a while yet.

They told me no idea on the ar's. I wonder if SW doesn't particularly favor them since they sell anything and everything the other spot is the local cop supply store and he told me two weeks on both, two months ago.

Yeah, politics generally will kill a TV show and I'd say that even if it were conservative politics. Of course, I've never seen that in practice, but still.

The key is having enough brass. If you just save what you shoot it may take a while to accumulate a good pile, but strangely a lot of shooters at the range still throw theirs out. However, thinking politically, I think we need to be writing letters to all the sherrifs, congress critters, governors, etc., who have come down solidly on the side of the 2nd Amendment. We have to let them know we stand with them. If we don't gather a stormfront of those of us who abide ONLY by the Constitution and BoR, we will not stop this tide. The stupid and metro-sexual, the takers and fakers are far too strong now. We need a movement, not just picking off one or two seats in congress. That will not be enough. "Could I buy a Class III permit?"
----------------
You have a Class III weapon that was never registered under the NFA. In its current condition, it is basically contraband. There is no Class III permit, you have to buy a $200 tax stamp for each registered Class III weapon that you wish to buy. You also get an extensive background check, fingerprinting, a conversation with your local chief of police, and all of that is only if your state allows Class III weapons. This is not an option with your gun, as you are already in possession (illegally) and, as I have said, it is contraband that cannot be legally registered at this point.

Listen carefully... you have two choices.

(Are you listening carefully?)

1) Get it fixed. You just discovered the problem, you ceased shooting it immediately, and you are rectifying it immediately. So you will not get in trouble. The fix will not be expensive. Lawyers and prison time will be.

2) Throw it in a lake.

Option 2 risks witnesses and question. So I'd go with Option 1.

Do I have your attention?

it's not really about the guns, it's about criminalizing gun owners.

it's the same rationale for most of the other piddling little laws out there. it's not really to make the public safer. it's to provide a pretext for someone whom police think 'ought' to be locked up but they can't find any legitimate reason.

No, he's playing their game like they do with Reagan. It's a backhanded slap.

Do you think Hilary's really going to be in a position to run in 4 years? Shit, look how different she looks since 2008, she looks like she's aged 20 years. 4 more years of this bullshit and she will not cut a presentable figure at all. That's not even factoring in the potential health complications she may end up with. The older you get, the more quickly that stuff takes a toll.

yeah, that's the problem with liberals.

conservatives recognize that man is fallen, and seek to create a system whereby man's fallen tendencies may be redirected into a positive outcome. Ex: free market, government with checks and balances

liberals recognize that man is fallen, and so what do they do? Start attempting to *change man*. So, ban guns, ban beer, ban tobacco, deprive man of those things, and then theoretically mankind will have been improved. Umm no, the fundamental sin of mankind is still there, it just gets redirected. That is what they don't get.

Think about it. You get a group of well spoken and generally well regarded R's and they start going around talking about their counterparts in a race. (They've each got a man in Dem Presidential primary, for instance).

No official endorsements, just little lines. "You know, I was really impressed when Senator X did whatever. Gov. Y, he's got some ideas that I think are worth a listen..." etc.

Make them brutalize each other trying to get the nomination.

I think you've got a point. But I think there are two overriding factors:

1) This kind of talk probably helps Ryan's appeal in Wisconsin.

2) I have doubts (not serious yet, but still) about Hilary's fitness in 2016. Concussions are always serious, esp. as you get older. Then, there's the grueling year of primaries and campaigns. And that's after another 4 years of this admin.

659 Brilliant strategy , try to ban large capacity magazines and .22 caliber black rifles .
Leaving a bunch (like 10,000,000 )of angry people with scoped highly accurate bolt action rifles mostly in calibers that begin in .27 and muzzle velocities around 3,000 fps. and go up from there .
These same angry marksmen and women are intimately familiar with their terrain both physical and human .
No worries , right ? I mean ,What's the worst that could happen ?
Every time I read someone saying , there's no way an American guerilla force could stand up to U.S. military and law enforcement , I think about that scenario and pray it never comes about .
