Sarah Palin Departing Fox

I actually always thought this was a bad move by Fox. Well, Sarah Palin was fine enough, as she was a commentator, but Mike Huckabee.... having his own show?

It's pretty hard to claim you're not a partisan political organization when Sunday at 8pm primetime show is Huckabee.

It's not separating the news function from advocacy sufficiently.

Eh, I suppose CNN and MSNBC do it too... but then I always take that as proof of their liberal leanings. But then, as I take CNN's fascination with Elliot Spitzer and MSNBC's fascination with Al Sharpton as signs of their naked partisan affiliation, I have to apply the same rule to Fox.

At any rate, she's leaving now that her three-year contract is up. Allah speculates she might go to Glenn Beck's nascent network; others think maybe she'll run for Senate.

1 I think she'll go home and screw Todd....

the rest of it is murky.

Mike Huckadoodle is his own party.

2 My Guess?

Next year, Palin will bear a child from a man she's cheating on Todd with, now that Todd is in the end stage of cancer.

For the benefit of Andrew Sullivan, Palin will gestate for 11 months and 17 days.

5 Now that sheís no longer a Fox contributor, she can visit other networks and help to get out the conservative message, rather than just preaching to the choir on FNC.

If we are going to start winning over conservative Democrats and independents, we have to broaden our reach.

Thatís why Iím happy with Sen DeMint joining Heritage, where he can use his marketing background to help market conservatism.

Fuckin-A. Good luck to Glen Beck trying to get a TV network off the ground. I think the high-water mark of his popularity was when he still had a show on Fox. Since then, he's been safety-wired to the shill position, pumping out the same book every 6 months, and flogging as many products as he can.

135 >>>"Romney has it in the bag" --- Jeff B

Nice snark. Now explain to me how I am incorrect about this. Do you follow Alaska politics, as I do? Do you know a number of Alaska natives (who are conservatives), as I do? Do you realize that it isn't just Democrats in AK who dislike Palin, it's a substantial number of Republicans, conservatives, and a wide swath of independents?

It's not about "she's too conservative" or anything like that. It's about her history. They look at her as someone who jumped ship, who abandoned them. Quit her job to make money in the Lower 48. She doesn't even spend the majority of her time in AK anymore -- for the last year or two she's lived mostly in Arizona.

A woman with Sarah Palin's profile and views would be a formidable candidate in Alaska. But not SARAH PALIN herself. Her specific personal history is and would be a huge problem for her in that state.

I mean, she could still possibly win. Joe Miller nearly won, after all. But it would be an uphill battle in a state where it should be an easy job.

And what would we gain as a movement, ultimately? Palin -- one of the most widely hated figures in America, nationally -- would instantly be made the face of the Republican Party and the conservative movement by a media eager to destroy and discredit us forever with women and younger voters who see her as a punchline-reminder of the worst of the GOP during its wilderness years.

My point is: you can disagree with me, but disagreeing on the grounds of "I hate you! I love Sarah! Stop dogging on her!" is not a disagreement that anyone is bound to regard as anything other than emotional bleating. I've offered the reasons WHY I think she would be a poor candidate in AK (and anywhere else she would be viewed as a carpetbagger...look at how close the 2012 AZ Senate election turned out and tell me why Sarah Palin would be a 'lock' there, please). Your response is basically "well, you're a jerk!" It's not even a disagreement, or an argument on the merits. It's just ad hominem.

Kind of reminds me of W.

Yeah, sounds simple.
But you can't *see* them inside...and you have to learn when to lift the top, or you will end up messing them up.

Batter that is too runny is not good...nor is batter that is too thick.

Anyone else watching Hoarders right now?

Gutfeld, Beck prior to TV, Limbaugh, Steyn, Corolla, the hitters are there but we are battling ALL of Hollywood.

Posted by: sven10077 at January 25, 2013 08:28 PM (LRFds)

Yep, I was really disappointed that beck didn't get current TV. I think that could have been a hell of a shot across the bow. Wasn't to be. Instead it was sold to an org loyal to a group that wants to see us all dead.

396 I could eat eggs at every meal. Love them!

I had three over medium this very night. Cooked in some olive oil left over from sauteing half a sweet onion, and then cooking black beans into refritos to mop up the left over oil. A one pan hobo dish that really hit the spot. All it lacked was a Polish and it would have been complete.

397 About once a year I make Hollandaise sauce, for a holiday breakfast or such. Very technical operation. I can take it or leave it, but I like that I can make it work out.

Actually not very interesting, but would be more so with you!

401 Oh I LOVE eggs. They just cease to be food once scrambled.

Two words: small curd. High Falutin French Style. Now I like both the small curd and large curd "Farm Style" but that's just me.

406 I do scrambled eggs rough style. Whole eggs right into the hot pan and scrambled in place. Then it's a race to grate in some cheddar before they're all cooked.

410 Take a potato, slice thin, and throw into a greased pan. Shortly thereafter, throw in diced sausage (or cheat and use the microwaveable stuff, cooked partway and chopped up; if you use the latter wait about 5 minutes before adding). Add eggs and near the end add shredded cheese. Cook a bit longer and enjoy.

413 Fox sux. I mean they're supposed to be "our" network and there is nothing of theirs I can actually stomach to watch (I haven't seen red eye, btw) o reily is a shit head. Hannity is a nice guy but not really that sharp. Greta is irrelevant and their regular news cast are annoying.

Everyone thinks Roger ailes is something. I think he is a piece of shit. Image if fox actually had something decent to watch. Beck and Palin were it. And Gufield needs a better agent.

Thanks sven,

Last I had heard Jeff B had serious health problems, so I (and others iirc) kinda laid off.

Hopefully this is a sign that that he's back healthy and we can resume dropping bowling balls on his incessant concerns.

That is an awesome dish --my mom makes it but she uses olive oil in the pan to fry the thin slices of potato first before adding the rest (in the same order that you do). It's a common dish in Greece and is often made for dinner (lunch is the "big meal" there).

422 Having lived in Alaska for a while now, Joe Miller was the worst Senate candidate ever in the history of mankind. And I supported him. Sean Parnell would beat Begich handily IMHO. Palin would be a long shot and probably couldn't do it, sadly. Even Alaskans who used to love her feel that she abandoned and embarrassed them with all of the Hollywood/tabloid type activities.

428 The problem with the idea that an image change would get the press, left or right, to treat her with respect is the the venom has kept flowing from Day One remarkably without regard to what she wears, what she says, how she says it, or pretty much any other objective fact. Color me skeptical that hammering out that Fargo accent, even were it unarguably a good idea, would make any more difference.
