Short Film Featuring Rapidly Expanded Minds

After seeing dozens of youtube ads for a short Sundance film called The Apocalypse, I have to admit my curiosity got the better of me. NSFW probably from the gore, and don't think too much about it afterwards, but a nice break from the more depressing state of affairs.

According to some of the youtube commentators, the point of the film is that white people stress out over stuff and so they deserve to have their heads explode, whilst blacks and Latinos are more mellowed out, so their heads do not explode.

Which is not at all a racist point of view.

I fucking hate Sundance.

68 Okay, some film student had an idea, one that wasn't terribly original or important to begin with, and then somehow acquired the money and technical expertise to make a video. But acting it out and GCI graphics don't make the idea any more interesting.

I say "not original" because it's Monty Python's skit about the weaponization of jokes, plus gore. Or else it's Scanners, minus science fiction.

I'm glad ace recommended it or I would have never seen it because it tanked at the theaters. There are not too many other movies that tanked at the box office andthat I have ended up liking. Funny People is one that comes to mind.

The sidebar story about secret agents needed to squeeze, literally, info out of horny businessmen was a recent plot on an episode of "Elementary". The female manager of an upscale hotel actively encouraged escorts to come to her hotel to take care of business, while secretly wiring up the rooms with cameras and mics. Turns out, she and her husband were deep cover Russian spies, pretending to be Americans.

Makes me wonder how many hotels DO have sound and picture hook-ups in their nicer rooms.

135 Sixteen days after being let go as the Jets offensive coordinator, Sparano has agreed to become the assistant head coach/offensive line, a league source confirmed.

Sparano, who coached the Dolphins from 2008-11, was brought in by the Jets in part to help spearhead Tim Tebow’s role in their Wildcat offense. Instead, Tebow and the Wildcat were used sparingly and the Jets’ offense ranked 30th in the league.

The Raiders’ rushing attack was 28th in the league last year for the 4-12 team that is coached by Dennis Allen.

I was kind of wondering how they could sustain that for another 84 minutes, given that it barely made it to 6.

140 Senior defense officials say Pentagon chief Leon Panetta is removing the military's ban on women serving in combat, opening hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and potentially elite commando jobs after more than a decade at war.
The groundbreaking move recommended by the Joint Chiefs of Staff overturns a 1994 rule banning women from being assigned to smaller ground combat units. Panetta's decision gives the military services until January 2016 to seek special exceptions if they believe any positions must remain closed to women.
