Hillary Clinton Benghazi Testimony

Hillary is doing her thing on Benghazi in front of the Senate Foreign Relation Committee. Four or five questioners in A republican is finally getting to Susan Rice.

Overall Hillary is saying the House needs to give me money for embassy defense. She's turning this into a victory lap.

Still no mention of "YouTube".

Today's hearing is a political sideshow. If you're interested in the real challenges facing diplomats in non-permisive environments, listen to my talk with security expert Robert Caruso from October.

I'm not going to update with every statement of hers but she just said, "I wasn't involved in the talking points process" regarding Susan Rice's Sunday show appearance.

Obama isn't the only one who knows how to throw someone under the bus.

First testy exchange comes from Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI). He goes after Hillary for the protest story without any facts. Hillary angrily responds (literally pounding the table) saying "We had 4 dead Americans! Was it a protest?...What difference at this point does it make?"

Unfortunately, Johnson had no answer to why it's a problem the administration spent 2 weeks lying. Hillary hid behind the bodies of 4 dead Americans and it will play well.

He might be facing Hillary in 3 1/2 years in the 2016 election. It might not be the worst idea to not cower in her presence. GOP primary voters have a long memory.

That aside, the Dems are sucking up to her for half of their 5 minutes. Most of the GOP Senators have kid gloves on. And the "answers" from Hillary consist of blaming the House for a lack of funding, claiming that everything that could've been done was done(BS!), and insisting that the buck stops with her....even though no one(including herself) has been held accountable for what happened.

We might as well get started on this.

On 3/20/1854, in WI, the Republican Party was formed. By 7/6/54, in MI, they had held a statewide convention and nominated candidates for the ballot. By February of 1856, they had their national convention. And you know what happened in 1860.

101 As Pepi LePew would say, "Le sigh...". No one has asked or will ask the real question about the Benghazi debacle:

WHAT WAS SO IMPORTANT THAT STEVENS WENT TOBENGHAZI WITH MINIMAL SECURITY?!?

Tocommemorate the opening of a Turkish Cultural Center? Please! Everyone in the intel business (and I spent ~15 years in it) knows thatCultural Centers are fronts for intelligence gathering and keeping tabs on your assets. The real story is:

1) We were buying Khadafi's arms to ship to the Syrian rebels.

2) The CIA grabbed someone close (possibly his brother) to the guy we were buying the arms from.

3) The bad guys wanted their guy back so asked for Stevens to come to Benghazi to negotiate a deal. And to show trust after the CIA's boneheaded move he had to show up with minimal security.

4) The bad guys tried to grab Stevens to swap for their guy.

5) Things went sideways.

6) The administration is more than happy to have everyone yammering about security, the response, Susan Rice, etc. because it would be a debacle if the real story got out (Think Iran-Contra times Eleventy!@#!)

7) They will never catch the guys who did this since guess what, we're still doing business with them. Why do you think the FBI investigation has been half-assed at best? Already they "leaked" that the some of the guys behind Benghazi were killed in Algeria. So we'll bomb a few tents and camels in the Sahara and they'll claim "We got them!".

102 Read Jerry Pournelle's CoDominium/Falkenberg novels, in which the country is a republic in name only, with the GOP and the Dems forming a Unity Party that rigs elections, splits the spoils, and ships political dissenters off to the colonies. Starting to come to fruition any day now.

Hillary picked up the 50 caliber machine gun and, firing from the hip, provided cover fire for the surviving members of the counsolate.

But still, that's not enough for those on the right.

If the republicans in congress hadn't made draconian cuts in the budget that was specifically for protection in Libya, this wouldn't have happened in the first place.

The problem in that situation is that the democrats seem content to just pull the goddamned lever for any Communist they run and our threat to not play ball rings hollow.

The Democrats lead their moron fucktard enablers around not the other way around...

I sold plan B as infiltrating the Democrats to try to destroy their worst actors but watching this bullshit leads me to believe Run Red and Divorce are the better play.

The federal Government's primary role is to present a unified front on foreign policy and assert our place in the world defending our interests and rights as a nation, instead a party dedicated to destroying our collective power wishes to cede sovereignty to an unelected International Oligarchy and micromanage our republic from top down.

This is NOT the American experiment.

116 Things I've learned so far from Hilary's testimony:
1) Being Secretary of State is a hard job. A really, really, really hard job.
2) When something happens somewhere in he world, that's not the only thing that's going on. Things are happening all the time everywhere. It's very complicated and very hard to keep track of.
3) It's really hard to confirm stuff that's happening far away. It's almost like there are no satellites, cell phone, comm links, IPhones or anything else. Just drumbeats in the wild.
4) It doesn't matter that there was a terrorist attack. WHY the attack occurred is what matters. I mean, there are four dead people, but once they're dead it's time to move on.
I'm glad we chose the coattails spouse of a former president with no international experience except to have other leaders' wives to tea for such a mind-bogglingly important post.
Oh, and she's flown 1,000,000 as Sec/State, which is more than anyone else. This is why the world is a safer place: frequent flyer miles.

121 Why is the GOP going along with this? Are they that frightened/demoralized?

Because they're all on the same team - the rulers.

Were we still the country our Founders envisioned, this creature would long since have had a group of citizens cordially escort her to the nearest tree and ask if she wanted to take up permanent residence there. Which is also why, although I'm a devoted LiB fan, it won't, ultimately, do any good. The power brokers, the DC elite, the Chris Matthewses - not one of them will suffer at all for their outright treason and the abetting thereof. They are the ones who should have their heads on pikes after the FSA runs riot, yet they never will.

Fuck the GOP. Burn it to the fucking ground.

I'm still convinced that the Tea Party should stage a hostile takeover of the GOP. Having the national machinery in place is important, and as is true in so much of politics, having the right people is crucial.

The current leadership of the GOP must be replaced. Their dependence on professional political consultants should be jettisoned. Their cowering before the Dims and refusal to challenge the MFM needs to stop immediately. The entire party needs a makeover and establish its public identity as one that fully supports the Constitution as written, capitalism and the rule of law with no apologies. They also need to highlight how the average American can succeed and fulfill the Dream through hard work and start educating the public about how Dim policies and regulations (including court decisions made by Leftarded judges) is keeping them down. They should be a living, breathing organism of strong opposition to the Left, pointing out its flaws, which are many, each and every day.

If we could just get the Democrats to split into four parties again. (Reds, Greens, Fags, and Hags)
=============
Easy enough to do when we have a political party willing to tell the truth.
And once we spit the GOP, they'll each think they now have huge power in the Dem party which will either force the Dem party farther left or they leave. Either way is a win for us.

And let's not get bogged down in "but what if they don't, what if we just hand this country to the Dems." Fact of the matter is, the current version of the national GOP is doing everything in its power to hand the country to the Dems.

And we cannot, in any way, shape or form, defend our individual liberties and freedoms against a hostile government unless and until we have a political party and entity willing to defend us.

For me, I'm going to start pushing the idea of the state and local Republican parties of Texas disassociating from the national party.

The same place the current Republican Party is getting its money and voters. Last night at the GOP County Executive meeting, most of the comments could have been lifted from here.

Don't tell me the money isn't there for a real opposition party.

And it's bullshit that we need piles and piles of money--we need one, two states, some cities and it'll snowball from there.

201 Clinton's testimony is probably the most disgusting display of mendacity I have ever seen and the committee is letting her get away with it.

In one sentence Clinton cavalierly states it's "her responsibility". In the next sentence she blames Congress because they didn't approve foreign aid?

DoS has a budget for security madam. This was your political decision to deny security for appearances sake and in support of policies that eventually led to these murders.

Congress had ZERO to due with the murders of our countrymen. Yet you dishonor their memories and abuse their families with your politics and obfuscation of facts.

The Republic may in fact be better served as a Confederate coalition for mutual trade interest, currency, and defense more so than a Federal Leviathan to be.

A good bill of rights, precise federal duties and an electorate ruthless enough at the collective assembly's overreach that State level office is preferable as was the case for a good portion of our early history would be ideal.

You're confusing quislings with clueless incompetents. I strongly doubt national-level Republican politicians are in active collusion with Marxists. Our biggest problem is, of course, the inability of GOP leadership to recognize that they're dealing with real-deal, old-school, Lenin-loving, hardcore Marxists. They think they're opposing Democrats. They even think Obama is a Democrat as FDR was a Democrat, a traditional liberal.

Unfortunately, the result is the same either way: the commies win.

We expected her to admit nothing, but this is TOO MUCH.

371 >>> "What difference does it make?"

It made enough of a difference that Obama personally tried to sell the video/protest story for a few weeks, in interviews and at the UN.

Ask him what motivated him to do that.

Whatever answer he gives, that's the difference it makes.

But I do love to see a powerful, empowered, career woman cry under tough questioning. Inspires loads of confidence.

400 Another inspiring performance by the GOP!

Where do they find these guys?

Posted by: Dark Ages at January 23, 2013 12:21 PM (+kznc)

401 1. Johnson got her upset asking about why they didn't call the survivors (introducing the concept of survivors) and she let slip that there is a guy still in Walter Reed.

2. Paul told her he would have fired her, and introduced the arms-running between Libya and other countries through Turkey. On this she said she didn't know anything about it (a LIE) and perhaps they should question another agency (CIA I presume). In the process of this she again said that the State Department people had been relieved of their positions, obviously trying to make the public think they had been fired, when they have simply been transferred.

3. McCain brought up discussions HE had with the Ambassador in JULY, and wanted to know why none of these concerns reached her.

Given that some of these people are not lawyers, and that some of them are squishy, I think they did pretty well. Plus we still have the House this afternoon.

I think we will hear more about the video this afternoon. I do not for a minute think that the House and Senate members of their respective committees have not strategized or discussed this.

404 Maybe....then again we might wind up getting Chihuahua and Sonora if we put the narcos on notice.

---

I don't particularly want Chihuahua or Sonora, as it doesn't make the border with Mexico any more defensible and would mean taking in the current Mexican populations of those areas, which includes Ciudad Juarez, which makes Detroit seem safe.

IMHO, the only reason to take either would be to get a Pacific port at Gueymas, Sonora, and that is irrelevant as long as the Panama Canal is accepting ships from the new Tex-iana country.

409 I really think it is passed the time to use some Alinski tactics on these dirtbags. These douches lie, make stuff up, obfuscate. I think its time the conservative side does the same thing, ethics be damned. And its up to little people, like us. Even the most outrageous exaggerations about possible Obama policies are plausible, so nothing is off the table.
I actually thought that the Obama/Joker posters were perfect. Ridicule with a message. Why aren't those things being mass-produced as little stickers and stuckon every shopping cart, restroom wall, menu and back pack in America?Same thing with Gadsen flags, both the yellow and the beautiful red and white stripes. Give him to kids and let them stick them everywhere. Some other posters noticed [and so did I] that Obama bumperstickers seem to have crawled out the drawer and onto car bumpers AFTER the election. Time to make the left feel surrounded.
Start the reparations rumor. "I hear thatObama confiscates the guns, he is going to order reparations. And it won't just be in a tax hike. They are going to take it right out ofyour [ss, unemployment benefits, etc] Who caresif its true or not.
Use class warfare to pre-empt state bail-outs. "Well, I don't know if you've heard but the plan is to have all the poor states bail out the rich states like California and New York. Illinois too."
Start anti-religious rumors: "I heard a rumor that Obama is considering a 75% tax on our church collections because religious people won't support abortion."
Although I think when people get a snootfull of ObamaCare, there will be no need to go after it this way. But "You know your free-check-up will be mandatory and will be a mental health test. If you don't pass the test then you will lose [gun rights, voting rights, driver's license, custody, unemployment, access to government buildings] or be subject to mandatory sterilization or your home searched for prohibited goods."

418 The difference is that the lying about the film was designed to score domestic political points that said "Christians and those who are not infatuated with Islam are icky--and should be silent."

That's why it matters. In part because not only was it an attack on those not buying the PC stuff about radical Islam, but because there was a teaching moment lost about the nature of what is actually going on over there, vice the gauzy feel good "Arab Spring" crap.

419 "We had 4 dead Americans! Was it a protest?...What difference at this point does it make?"
________________________

The Obama administration deliberately and blatantly lied to the American public for two weeks about it being a spontaneous protest rather than a planned AQ attack.

It matters because the administration lied for a reason: it wanted to get Obama re-elected, and his chances of getting re-elected would be harmed if the American public knew (1) that Obama's boasts about AQ having been vanquished were baloney; and (2) that Obama's unilateral intervention in Libya was a failure that increased rather than decreased the terror threat to Americans.

But I can understand what Hillary's saying, which is essentially "why does it matter that Obama lied, since the lie worked and Obama has been re-elected?"
