Enviroweenie David Attenborough, "Humans are plague on Earth"

Scratch an environmentalist, find a Malthusian.

The television presenter said that humans are threatening their own existence and that of other species by using up the world’s resources.

He said the only way to save the planet from famine and species extinction is to limit human population growth.

“We are a plague on the Earth. It’s coming home to roost over the next 50 years or so. It’s not just climate change; it’s sheer space, places to grow food for this enormous horde. Either we limit our population growth or the natural world will do it for us, and the natural world is doing it for us right now,” he told the Radio Times.

This is the real motivation behind the Global Warming Climate Change Climate Chaos movement or whatever they're calling it now. The developed world is, well, developed. But the developing world can't be allowed to do so because ZOMFG!!11! Population Bomb!!eleventy!, even though this has been discredited time and again.

And given that it's the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I should note that a Venn diagram of this mindset with the abortion-on-demand crowd looks like this: O

So here's a helpful suggestion, Mr. Attenborough: You first.

How--exactly--does he propose we limit the population? All the prosperous nations have flat or negative growth. That leaves the unprosperous nations which tend to be more non-white and non-yellow than the prosperous ones.

That means, anyone who attempts to do what he wants to do will immediately be branded racist and driven from public life. If he wants it so bad he can go for it--have to balls to actually propose what you are proposing, dude. We'll just sit back and watch the blue on blue carnage.

I mean, heaven forfend that nearly all of Africa and Bangladesh and India and parts of South America actually become self-sustaining and that people there stop starving to death or dying of malnutrition and the like. How dare they breed! How dare they attempt to haul themselves into the 19th Century!

38 It's hard to find common ground with people who think humanity is a chancre sore on the face of Mother Gaia. These people must harbor the most intense self-loathing. Every breath they take, every drink of water and morsel of food, every article of clothing must seem to them like an affront to nature. Abortion, to them, must seem like an act of devotion.

Bingo. Blessed Mother Gaia does not give a shit about humanity and will destroy us all without a single moment's hesitation.

It's almost as if those spouting the very very very tired out Malthusian line do not believe that humanity can adapt. In fact, a more cynical type might be led to believe that they don't want solutions because that would lead to the use of technology which is apparently per se evil.

41 Funny thing, but in countries where they don't develop energy the grubbing for wood and subsistence type farming tends to wipe out *native forest*. The U.S. is more wooded now than 150 years ago.

If 1st world bigots would stop squelching energy development the planet would be healthier. These malthusians are really just scared of letting 'peasants' have the power that comes with cheap electricity.

The problem is that the few people who usually address the concept in a modern context tend to be over-the-top conspiracy theory types, so a lot of snottier conservatives poo-pooh the notion. Eugenics is never going to go away. Statists thrive on the idea. It's the ultimate game of control. Yet, the masses continue to listen to the "intellectuals"(read: technocrats) that openly admit they want the masses to die.

1. The biggest group now are the liberal politicians. Their aim is more spending and taxes. Taxes because they always love taxes and spending for their cronies.

3. And the smallest group are the true believers. They are the insane people like this idiot who are so washed in the religion of the green movement that they will believe anything.

55 Leftism is a severe mental disorder, not a legitimate political ideology. Attenborough simply is expressing what leftists actually believe. And here's the thing: There's a misconception in certain circles and corners of the right side of the spectrum that liberals all of a sudden in recent years have flipped out and lost their collective minds. Not true.

Leftists always have thought this way. The only difference is that in decades gone by there was no Internet, there was no 24/7 news cycle, liberals were ensconced on college campuses and in lower-level jobs in the media, and they flew under the radar screen. Now, however, they're in the spotlight and we're seeing and hearing their true colors.

In essence leftism is a death cult. They're obsessed with death. Abortion on demand merely is a manifestation of their death cult obsession. Deep down liberals don't give rats' asses about "women's rights" or "women's healthcare." Abortion is death, which by itself titillates liberals. They want to control life. They want to control the life-death dichotomy. It's a function of their psychiatric pathologies.

Compulsory abortions by the government always were and will be the eventual denouement of sustained leftism as public policy. The same holds true for euthanasia. Check out Europe. That's the direction in which we're headed. Elections have severe consequences.

85 Eugenics is correct in theory, in the simplest case of self interest. It'sjust being embraced by the wrong people, because they think it's ominous sounding and scary. Well, let's reverse the lens for a few minutes here: These mentally deficient self-haters need to go up the smokestacks. These 5 generations of welfare recipients need to go up the smokestacks. These lifetimeof do nothing slopping at the public money trough politicians need to go up the smokestacks.Scary, crazy sounding shit, isn't it? Well, here's the rub people, at some point, they'll push you into a corner long and hard enough that it will start sounding Good and Just. When you're hungry and cold and have seen your loved ones misused you'll run, cheering, to enact The Final Solution. Because it's a solution all right, final and entirely possessing tangible, measurableresults. Right now, it's just a bunch of drum circle hygenically challenged younglings and liver-spotted, dottering old fools proposing it. What happens when the intelligent, the skilled, the productive embrace Malthusian theory? You know, the people that actually Get Things Done. Nothing good, that's what. SO KEEP FN PUSHING YOU HIPPY DUMB ASSES because IT'S COMING.

Militia leaders told U.S. officials just two days before the attack that they were angered by U.S. support of a particular candidate for Libyan prime minister and warned “they would not continue to guarantee security in Benghazi, a critical function they asserted they were currently providing,” Stevens wrote in the cable the morning of Sept. 11, 2012. He also cited several other episodes that raised questions about the reliability of local Libya security.

I have had people tell me to my face that forced abortions in China are a lie created by those insane right to lifers. There is no way to have a reasonable discussion with people who slap their hands over their ears and say lalalalalalala I can't hear you when actual facts are contrary to their desired political position.

Someone mentioned the difference between conservationism and environmentalism upthread. This is a long standing pet peeve of mine. I actually do give a shit about the environment and pollution and that horrible word sustainability. I grew up in a major farming area. We didn't farm but we knew many people who did so soil depletion and crop rotation and irrigation were all very practical concerns. Now? Now, all of that is being co-opted into we are killing the planet and must not do anything! There is no middle ground between okay we need to grow crops and hey maybe we should be conscious of what happens when chemical fertilizers get into the ground water but hey using manure has health risks as well and how can be balance that out. Hell, does recycling even work? Yes, it is important to know that. There are risks to everything. I want to know what those are and then pick the least worst option. The politicization of everything now means that we cannot even ask questions to get the data we need to make an informed decision.

129 Four F-16 fighter jets left the U.S. this morning, bound for Egypt as part of a foreign aid package critics say should have been scrapped when the nation elected a president who has called President Obama a liar and urged that hatred of Jews be instilled in children.
A source who works on the Naval Air Force Base in Dallas confirmed the departure of the state-of-the-art fighter planes to FoxNews.com. Sixteen F-16s and 200 Abrams tanks are to be given to the Egyptian government before the end of the year under a $216 million foreign aid deal signed in 2010 with then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a longtime U.S. ally..
Critics, including several in Congress, say it doesn't make sense to follow through with the package, given that new Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, elected last summer, has given decidedly mixed signals about relations with the U.S. While he has toned down his rhetoric since his election, in 2010 - the same year the aid package was struck - Morsi attacked Obama for supporting Israel.
“One American president after another — and most recently, that Obama — talks about American guarantees for the safety of the Zionists in Palestine," Morsi, then a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, said on Egyptian television. "[Obama] was very clear when he uttered his empty words on the land of Egypt. He uttered many lies, of which he couldn’t have fulfilled a single word, even if he were sincere — which he is not,” Morsi says in the latest clips, referring to Obama’s 2009 speech, delivered at Cairo University."
In the comments translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Morsi went on to urge that children be taught to hate Jews.
“Dear brothers, we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them," he said. "They must be nursed on hatred. The hatred must continue.

170 136 AlexTheChick,

are you certain?

Restrained Christianity allowed you to get here ma'am.

Do I strike you as wanting to jihad homosexuals, or people who are apathetic about the faith?

Am I a fire and brimstone evangelist ma'am?

I eventually rejected eugenics and the "holy mission of control" on humanity because of God not despite him.

It is not my place to slay anyone who does no harm simply because they are different from me in faith or creed. I may have a mission to influence, and to try to aid the person on the path but I would never engage in the Jihadi or the leftoids' charming antics.

Alex the lack of unity of purpose in ideals is killing freedom not aiding it.

They are using fissures amongst the non initiates of the death cult to make people who want mankind to grow and be fruitful less powerful.

A controlled Christianity as moral baseline would be no more dangerous than what we have now in the Total Control left, and in all likelihood far less.

As it stands the world is going to be ran either by evangelical secular humanists who love some weird hybrid of Marx/Malthus and Sanger, Islam, or have a huge bloodbath.

I'd posit that a resurgent west cannot happen without some unifying fabric that is not innately suicidal, and leftism is innately suicidal.

Trust me I am not trying to convert you to the faith simply ruminating over what we face.

We have poachers in America but the problem isn't so great that we are wiping out species. Then again, we have enforced laws and an army of feds to back them up. I think you would get more jail time for killing a bald eagle than robbing a bank.

Our economy, as fucked as it is, can still afford to defend out indigenous animals. In third world countries, not so much. I can see a causal relationship between poverty and rampant poaching of endangered species.

213 This doesn't surprise me at all. I pointed it out when ObamaCare passed. The birth control mandate is a form of Neo-Sangerian eugenics mixed with just a dash of population control (they're pretty much related.).

I was called crazy by my leftist (and even moderate) friends. Although in fairness to them, a few of them didn't know what Sangerian Eugenics was. Still they didn't see it after I explained it to them.

What people forget is that Sanger not only failed, but got it completely backwards. Setting aside the abortion thing for a moment and looking at the totality of "population control mechanisms" (which I used intentionally instead of birth control, to be more including) Sanger predicted the poor (she used a different term) would self select themselves out of existence. That didn't happen. Instead Middle Class on up selected themselves out (not entirely, "down" would be more apt.)
So to fix that, the JEF proposes handing out Birth control completely "free" (yes, insurance cost shifting...blah blah blah...note the quotes, and note that the FSA is incapable of understanding the difference between "free" and "cost shifted." I know it's not free, you know it's not free, the FSA army is too stupid to figure that out.) His plan (as well as the other Neo-Sangerians) is that the poor will this time have no excuses to not utilize the population control methods (this is also why the law included a complete coverage of BC methods, not just the generic pill, the least expensive, the SCOAMF and Co knew that the adherence rate for the pill amongst the FSA is surprisingly low, but you can't not adhere to an IUD or a tube tying.) By doing this, he hopes to control the population (as well as select out the poor and otherwise "unwanted.")

This may not be the time to bring it up, but a year or so ago I read a very interesting column regarding the Islamization of Europe. The guy who wrote the article ( I really wish I had saved it now.) pointed out that Atheism is only tolerated by Christianity. That when the Islamists are a Majority, they will not tolerate it at all. They will not be moved by arguments of humanist philosophy, or appeal to the rights of man, or whatever. They will either make the Atheists Shut up and convert, or they will start a pogrom against them.

He further pointed out that the ONLY meme which could possibly stop the Islamization of Europe was a contra religion. His point was that a "belief" can only be opposed by another belief. It cannot be opposed by a non-belief.

He said that it was zealous warriors motivated by Christianity which pushed the Islamists out of Europe the first time. Atheists and Agnostics will not be able to do this.

He said Europeans can only be saved from Islam by what defeated it before.

I personally think the Europeans are seriously screwed.

They are doing it to make money...I'm guessing poachers probably were involved in other crimes prior to poaching. Making money the honest way isn't something they understand, know how to do.

The poachers aren't starving - because of the very fact they ARE poaching rare animals.
They are doing what they feel they need to do to make ends meet.

Why are Rhino's being poached? Demand for their horns in Asia
http://bit.ly/zr7teV

These animals aren't being only because rich guys want a trophy. Since trade in most of those types of trophy items are illegal, 'rich' people have nothing to gain, and everything to lose, by poaching.

If memory serves Sanger was a Malthusian as well, so like I said, overlap between the two is expected.

Make no mistake, Sanger was a Eugenicist first, and a feminist second (if ever.) To the extent the aligned she utilized feminism to push her Eugenics agenda. I think a lot of the Current Sanger cultists are much the same. They're willing to co-opt feminism to the extent that it pushes their agenda, but will happily dump it at the first sign of trouble.

The reason is, Liberals are having fewer children, while the Orthodox are having many. Demographics is destiny. In 20 years or so, New York will likely become much more conservative.

286 Soooo, what exactly is Attenborough's suggestion? If he's so certain that the natural world will limit humanity's population growth in the absence of a self-imposed population limit, and since the natural world is (to Attenborough) holy and sacred, then why exactly should we bother limiting our OWN population growth? Eh? What, does he not want to make Mother Nature earn her keep? He prefers mass abortion or birth control to, say, plague and famine? Why? Are they more sanitary? Really? Are STDs acquired from casual sex that diminish quality of life and require expensive, lengthy treatment preferable to the relative speed of a bubonic plague or ebola outbreak? Does he recommend feeding aborted fetuses to the carrion eaters who would otherwise feed on the dead bodies of famine-struck villagers? Hmm?

I just don't see why he wants to employ artificial means to limit population growth when artificial means are what led to that growth in the first place, thanks to big agriculture, big pharma, big oil, etc. If he believes that the natural world will take care of itself, then let it. Let nature fight its own battles, Attenborough. And if nature doesn't do anything, maybe -- just maybe -- it's because the problem isn't a problem after all.

296 Environmental extremists would be a great topic for a documentary. There are plenty of them...easy to find, and they're not shy. And they hate humans. A director could probably do something with that, I suppose.

I think you misinterpreted me. I allowed for misinterpretation, hence my use of the term "jammed."
I don't think that implies a "reality fulfilling scripture" as much as a "scripture back ported to fit reality." (Although I think it goes both ways, people back port scripture but also misrepresent reality.)

My only point was it's a futile argument with no end point, because the people who believe "reality fulfills scripture" have enough wiggle room in scripture to shoehorn it together and claim "evidence."
It's like arguing with a relativist. Or a Nostradamus believer.

In any case, New Testament scripture (IMHO) isn't so much needing "fulfilling" as it is a type of Aristotelian style virtue text designed to provide a description of a "good life." (and much like any other Aristotelian type text, it gets misinterpreted, abused, and often people fail to live up to it's actual meaning because it's hard.)

312 Granting a benevolent scripture leaves only misinterpretation of that text as the reason for the historical excesses of the Church.

The Church is a human institution and capable of the same failings as any human institution.

As a sidenote - in many cases it was clergymen who rescued or hid Jews during pogroms, many of which were instigated by secular authority.

And life in medieval Europe was brutal to everybody. The Jews got it worse, but Christians tended to treat each other pretty poorly as well.

The thing you say is "proven" or "proved" is not the thing that is in fact "proven" or "proved" at all, nor is the concept you seek to maintain maintainable over time like a bug in amber preserved. The good news is that you are either an atheist, so fully aware of your blasphemies but also aware they are only gross cruelties to other creatures and not punishable in eternity, just in the context of those creatures now alive suffering from your cruelty, OR you are a 'true believer' and thus laboring under a Disease of the Mind and not responsible for your ravings.

Not trying to justify or rationalize bad behavior. No Christian would or should. What I meant by 'reality fulfills scripture' is that since the Bible is the Word of God, then it (The Word) is not a reflection or expression of reality as is the case of works written by men; rather, reality is a reflection of The Word.

Sorry about those pogroms, by the way. If it makes you feel better, I'm guessing Christians in America will get a first-hand perspective of pogroms of one degree or another soon enough.

455 2016 Begins: Biden Huddles With DNC
11:15 AM, JAN 22, 2013 • BY DANIEL HALPER

President Obama's Second Inauguration was only yesterday, but gearing up for the 2016 election has already begun. Vice President Joe Biden is today meeting with the Democratic National Committee in Washington.

"Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill will be hosting a private reception at the Democratic National Committee's meeting in Washington on Tuesday, according to two Democrats familiar with the event," reports CNN.

"The unannounced reception will take place with party delegates after the DNC meeting concludes in the afternoon."

One DNC member tells CNN, "Biden has a national network of supporters, and this is a reminder to them that he's still in the game. ... What time is Hillary coming?"

507 California's fiscal problems haven't disappeared, but the budget is balanced. This was covered extensively by the WSJ in mid-January.

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Jerry Brown last week said he had closed a state budget gap for the first time in years and was making huge strides toward knocking down the "wall of debt" that keeps California from moving forward.

But in laying out his timeline for repaying some $23.5 billion, Brown did not factor in a looming liability - tens of billions more owed for retirement health care benefits promised to state workers.

Sacramento leaders have failed to set aside money to cover $62 billion in projected costs for retiree health care.
Some veteran state workers have been promised the full state-funded contribution toward their health plans for the rest of their lives. That typically covers most, if not all, of their premiums. Many newer employees must pay a share of their costs.

In July 2012, the largest U.S. public pension system, CalPERS, reported a 1 percent return on investments, even after the assumed rate of return was cut earlier in 2012 to 7.75 percent, a reduction that was obviously too timid. Similarly, the $150.6 billion California Teachers pension fund (CalSTRS) earned only 1.8 percent.

Which means....

California's budget is balanced on paper, but only by ignoring liabilities.

But, you keep fucking that chicken, Jordan.

Saw a bumper sticker the other day that read "I want a president with tattoos!". Not that I have anything against tattoos, or anything, but the mentality is mind-numbing.What exactly does having tattoos have to do with being a competent president? It may make someone "more relatable" to the tattooed crowd, because he looks like they do. But that doesn't make him capable.

It's the same mentality that got Obama elected to begin with. Apparently, the electorate can't relate to a multimillionaire, and successful businessman. They would rather have the guy who is a millionaire because he succeeded at writing grant proposals, that's more important than actual free market skill, or so the voters say. I don't think Romney's solid family man status even entered into the equation, since the media steadfastly refused to cover him that way.

California is in the same position as a bankrupt fool.

No one will lend them money, so they only get to spend what they can beg, earn, or take.

The only way to make it worse would be for the State to be able to print its own money.

Obama is going that same route, but he still has the Zimbabwe option ... which will make California look like a model of fiscal responsibility by comparison.

Ace does not tolerate overt bigotry aimed at Obama nor threats, I suspect were I to produce a video jerking off to killing Obama like the left did on Bush Ace would destroy my welcome here in an instant.

ZH makes a choice when they allow the level and venom in Jew bashing that they do in their comments.

I declined to join there based on it, and upon reflection wonder if my linking them in twitter was wise.

I choose not to "associate" with them and quite the contrary have exercised no use of anything more than the expression of my sadness while identifying that the staff is guilty of at worst tolerance.

Do go on, they are simply put guilty OF association.

And by the way, "millionaire" doesn't mean that much these days. A successful small businessman, what we used to call upper-middle class, is usually a millionaire.

Back when gold was $20 for a 0.8 ounce coin, being a millionaire meant something.

A person with a million dollars today is about as wealthy as someone with $16,000 in 1929.

Ace does not tolerate overt bigotry aimed at Obama nor threats

It's his blog, he can do whatever he wants. But if he allowed other people to say it, it wouldn't make him racist. Maybe he would just believe in free speech. No doubt he'd be tarred anyway by the propriety police.

And that's the crux of it - you have to NOT ALLOW it, or otherwise you are presumed to de-facto support it. If Ace merely tolerated such bigotry he would be accused of supporting it. With or against, no middle ground acknowledged. You participate in the enforcement or you get the social machine turned on you.

Things nobody says anymore: I disagree with what they say but will defend their right to say it. Nobody says that anymore because it's not operative anymore. If you defend their right to draw breath even, then you will be labelled part of the problem.

562 560 Entropy,

Again I expressed that it is my contention that ZH has not shown through their own posts that they are anti-Semitic, I also said they have interacted with commentariat that are and have not disclaimed it.

I did not at any point call for a general boycott, burn anyone who enjoys it(of which there are many here and I am still warily amongst them) at the stake, nor have I the power nor inclination to start throwing Morons under the bus over it.

I am at a loss precisely how I have injured anyone, am engaging in "guilt by association" other than pointing out my personal lack of ease with those who associate with anti-semites without spurning them.

I do not hang out with Klansmen, I do not hang out with NBPP members, I tend to get nervous with people who are against the Muslim world with genetic justification.

I actively besmirch and denigrate Klan and NBPP was vocal about it in the South in NOLA and West Louisiana even though both are present with power there and am in fact rather comfortable being overtly against racists.

I consider it a duty, were I of the mind that Ron Paul was personally, or ZH overtly himself was a racist I would be rather more demonstrative of my point of view on said matter.

Can you explain to me precisely when I signed on to have a duty to silently allow anti-semite, people who hate blacks based on race, or Jews based on race their platform unremarked upon or had a duty to not speak or cast an eye at people who seem content enough to let them camp amongst them?

I have not so far as is known called on the mutant anti jew legion to not have access to the web, I am not trying to deny ZH its gain other than in my displeasure...

my personal lack of ease with those who associate with anti-semites without spurning them.

Again, let's just be clear about what we're doing when we do this.

The difference being that I have seen staff if I read things correctly there interact with their mutant population......

The unease comes from the fact that they interacted, without shunning, with antisemites. Their sin is one of association with antisemitism. IE we saw them talking to some antisemites, and they didn't pull out pitchforks so they're probably one of them, eh?

or had a duty to not speak or cast an eye at people who seem content enough to let them camp amongst them?

You have no such duty. Doesn't mean you're A-OK by doing the opposite. What you are saying is shunning the racists is not even enough, we must also shun those who do not participate in shunning. They're too content to let racists exist.

At any rate, I wasn't pissed discussing that. I disagreed. But then we also have this:

it is the Luap Nor cult mainstreaming the anti-semites IMHO....

I don't know what the "Luap Nor Cult" is, I know of no building with that sign on the door. That's not what they call themselves. Ron Paul supporters? I am a Ron Paul supporter. Fancy I would get pissed off at that.

How is linking Paul supporters who want aConstitutional Republicto antisemitism, any better than going after the GOP for being rape apologists? It's a smear. No portion of the Libertarian platform involves hating on Jews. Sure, you can find some kooks to tar the whole movement with - you can do that with any movement, including GOPism.

Yeah I didn't get into a knife fight with lowandslow that wrecked a friendly relationship entropy.

You haven't wrecked anything unless you fancy. In 2 days I will forget this ever happened.

But there's an issue there. I am a Ron Paul supporter. So, ostensibly, if not an antisemite at least way too cozy with them apparently. Imay beinsufficiently anti-racist for your tastes.

I actively besmirch and denigrate Klan and NBPP was vocal about it in the South in NOLA and West Louisiana even though both are present with power there and am in fact rather comfortable being overtly against racists.

It's a moral trap.

You can beagainst assault, intimidation, violence, etc.

And you can be against racism, but to the extent racism can exist without assault et. al., it's a thought crime. You start telling people it's their duty to shun and ostracize those who's beliefs are wrong (or offensive) and you're playing with goddamn fire. Don't come bitching to me when they throw your warming-denialist ass in a camp.

And being against racism and against racists isn't quite the same. At the end of the day, but for the prevailing moral propriety, you are hating on them for being factually wrong about something. And that is dangerous.

568 "Mr. Attenborough: You first."

I second that, Andy; or third it @ 27 blindside, or fourth it @ 301 mare.

David Attenborough, like any elitist, assesses judgements that NEVER apply to himself, which proves his own point: as a cannibal devouring humanity, he himself acts as a plague. There are authoritarians who unleash plagues on the earth; for instance, perpetual warfare, governmental denial of human rights, effecting executive orders denying that people are anything but beasts of burden.

While in Andersonville, the Federal Union Army prisoners of the Confederacy during the War between the States held court trying their own "Raiders" or Union pirating gang (from New York City) for mass murders against fellow prisoners. The Raiders' "legal" defense was that while prisoners of war, no member of the Union Army was obliged to follow ANY law. The six Union Raider ringleaders were found guilty of hundreds of murders, and hung to die. But that was then...

Funny thing happened on the way to the forum ... http://tinyurl.com/6pthll3

Matthew 7:1-2
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.
